Anonymous, 03 Jun 2023Yeah, until you lose OS support, which Google seems to slip... moreOnce you switch to Apple device, you will have no way of turning their location scanning off (turning location service off doesn't mean it's actually off)

In addition to that, Apple now has capability of AI scanning on the device, which means they can spy on you anytime at their will.
I'm not spreading conspiracy here; this is a fact.

Google Android is just as bad as iOS on spying the user, but the difference is that you can flash AOSP based custom rom that doesn't have google spy codes

I thought my pixel 6 was garbage because I used T-Mobile for the first time. I thought maybe it was a service making the phone act up. I saw nothing but negative reviews having to do with this phone now I know it's not just the carrier and not just my phone. This phone is absolutely garbage! The lagging on it is ridiculous! My storage is nowhere near full and I keep my phone about at bloat free as possible and it lags all the time. So disappointed in this model I don't think they could ever would need back

I was wondering what the tensor hype was about as It clearly has nothing to do with performance gain.
According to some research, seems more likely to be used for AI scanning similarly to what Apple is doing.
Doesn't sound like advantage for us, but for google and the government to spy us more.

Nothing but issues from dropped calls in full service areas to losing connection to the internet while someone sitting beside me is connected to LTE+ with no issues. The phone is junk.

Anonymous, 03 Jun 2023Yeah, until you lose OS support, which Google seems to slip... moreThat's not entirely true as there are custom ROMs available for Androids (some of them support quite long time).
But first of all, what's this Update hysteria about?
Do you really think you need so many updates (unless some app stops working or there are other serious issues)?
These security patches, if you know the basics such as not to click malicious links, not to let others access your phone physically, you will have no problem as long as the phone lives.
You don't get hacked unless you are a high value target, and it costs thousands of $ to hack a phone through internet (unless you let someone access your phone physically).

I've been nothing but disappointed with my Pixel 6 Pro, doubt that will be the case when I switch to a 14 Pro Max later this month.

As for Android phones, it's not recommended to pay too much, instead you have many choices to choose.
And if you handle the phone normally, normal android phones last for as long as iPhone too.

                                1. Too expensive mostly just for cameras

Last time I checked with them about availability of stock of some model, they just said they don't have it anymore, and not even planning to restock either.
That turned me off for sure.

Decided to get it also because I can flash custom ROM on it.

My Pixel 6 is the worst smartphone I've owned. Lowlights include refusing to charge from some USB power sources, Google Maps inexplicably changing to dim l/black night mode while driving in bright sunshine, unresponsive touchscreen with some apps, failure to login to some public WiFi networks, over-processing of camera images that you can't turn off (it looks like painting-by-numbers) and generally weird, erratic and buggy behaviour. I had an early Huawei smartphone with Cyanogen on it and it's worse than that. After happy times with three Moto Gs and then deciding to treat myself to a "flagship phone" it's come as a crushing disappointment. Shame on you Google for even releasing this.

Want to get one, but it will highly depend on current pricing.
If I can find one priced USD 250 or lower in a good condition, I may have it.
Google phones are not really cheap for their spec.
