My advice is to wait, because at the moment it seems like they are taking a few steps back
not only they made of cheap plastic but also a few things are step back, here for comparison let's take the Huawei P smart 2021 which came out in September, negativity or reduction, cheap plastic, mobile network speed LTE cat 6, Wi-Fi without 2.4GHz no 5GHz, no dual band and 2x2 MIMO antenna for fast finding and connecting, then display without gorilla glass protection, without NFC, without gyroscope, video limit 30 fps, and with the same hardware and the same price you get a much worse product than the one you already have, I stay on Honor 8x for now because it meets my needs and in 3 months I need to renew the contract with my mobile operator and then will offer me a discount for new telephone.
At this moment I see nothing better for this price, when I should choose then it's hard, because these good models (which are for my budget about $ 300) are not offered in my country, Honor X10 Max 5G or Honor X10 5G and ''Honor 30'' , best regards.

i am really confused, what will be the next phone, because they will stop sending security patches by end of this year, and i need dual sim + dedicated sim card slot, even if i have NAS system, still i prefer to have sd card with 400 or 512 gb.
But the problem with the new phones wich are covering my needs, is that most of them coms with either a plastic frame or plastic back, nothing tell now has the same premium and nice look like 8x, tell what do you think, i would like to hear your opinion and your advice.

auto focus in auto mode it is constantly adjusted and spoils the video but it is mainly with all phones, but with Honor 8x there is a pro mode where you can adjust yourself as you described and it is a feature of expensive phones as well as night mode is a great tool,
and as you said if you have the knowledge to take photos you can get even better quality because shooting a picture is not just one click it is a complex thing where many factors are involved and professional photographers with expensive equipment that costs thousands of dollars they use a tripod as a basic tool and from 300-500 shot photos will choose 10 of them , glad that someone has a greater knowledge of photography, cheers.

Aaya23, 04 Nov 2020i bought honor 8x last year after it was published in my co... moreSince i bought it i knew that 8x does not have image stabilization for videos, but iam using it for non moving videos with a trypod and its really very good if you know how to use the pro mode, because the auto focus and rhe wite balance sucks in auto mode, Its excellent with my DJI osmo mobile 2 with.
For the photos its the same, the pro mode is very good and you can take a very good shots with the auto mode, i think it became better with the updats.

i bought honor 8x last year after it was published in my country..at first the camera was so good and nice.. buat after a few updates till now..it have a fucking bad camera..worst ever! DONT BUY please save your money n buy another phone dont go for honor

I will write the last comment about our conversation and please do not take it with bad intentions because I am just sublimating what is available, and that is that I am very pleased with my Honor 8x which has never let me down in 22 months or works beautifully against my 3 previous samsung phones that caused me problems and for them I paid twice the price compared to Honor 8x and when you read 80% of bad comments for the newer samsung a51 and for honor you need deep research to find at least 1 in a hundred so when something starts from the beginning bad and you still have a road ahead for the a51 that needs to prove its quality? please visit page for a51 it's really bad and my experience shows the same, I still have a samsung j5 and s4 that works like an old grandmother from 5.1 update and I can't touch the power button because then it constantly restarts and you have to beat it to work somehow , I can't even sell it and I paid 450eur, it hurts and the plastic look looks like it went to war. that's why i love my quality in HONOR 8X, so I would buy it again,because it is quality.
read the comment when my phone drowned in the mud for half an hour and works again as if nothing had happened, what proof is still needed.

so you enjoy this day and you favorite choice. :)

Today I got september 2020 update , but is just security pach, no other improvements, no camera update nothing. I buyed this phone in december 2018. I don't read comments on Samsung A51, i just saying that is far better than honor 8x. And you get updates with camera improvements, and other fixes. So why you should buy honor 8x in 2020?

Honor 8x was offered to me by my phone operator with 50% off for my loyalty and the seller offered me his Honor 8x to try it out and make sure of its quality, working on it I was surprised by the look, quality and speed and I accepted this excitement that still lasts and will last for a long time.

talk as much as you want this is a free zone I have no intention of convincing you because it will be an endless story so enjoy your choice wrapped in cheap and harmful plastic I am for more precious metals and glass and my HONOR 8X has already proven itself in all fields
and that's why I have two of them and satisfaction is on my side.

in terms of fixing what you would like to fix when everything is great and work perfectly and what you expected in the latest security patch update (android 12 update) and both models use android 10 , I think that you are obviously looking for something you don't even know what, but just to remind you, when the new model in 2020 which is built of cheap plastic that was discarded from production for quality smartphones, samsung A51more looks like a desperate attempt to keep pace with the battle with serious competition that produces better quality products which 2 years ago produced appliances with new higher quality material ''glass and aluminum'' you know that the latest smartphones are now made of ''ceramic''?, which means that they have two steps ahead of plastic, which in 2 years will look like an old wreck
but I wish you to enjoy it with pleasure on you new A51
