Even I can say all br... moreNokia are the worst of when it comes to batteries, they always put way to small batteries in their phones so that they never really become truly "mobile" phones. Nokia does not have any mobil today that can compete with the best from HTC, Samsung and Apple.

I bought Desire last week. Everything is OK, except there is not "MARKET" app in my menu.

The best touchscreen phone I've ever had... Far better than HD2 as per the usability... Very very stable OS when compared to the socalled OS winmobile (I've also used HD2 for weeks). Keyboard may be a problem for BB users at the first time.

Hey guys I'm thinking of gifting Desire to someone. So need an honest opinion on this phone. I already have an Xperia X10 and have owned Google Nexus 1..so not new to Android...what I'm looking for is the battery life with push email activated all the time...and how is HTC's service fairing in India...coz its hard to find their service center anywhere near, not that I actually went out to look for one but Nokia,SE service center's are clearly visible on the street wherever you go.

Micho, you asked about voice navigation. The answer is yes, you need to download a few pieces of free software from the android shop (Google maps, navigation, text to voice conversion) and you can use your Desire like a TOMTOM. With the traffic overlays it will guide you past traffic jams. This will work wherever Google maps are available, i.e. UK, Europe, USA, Canada etc.! For this to work you need however a data connection. I tried this out sticking my Desire in my shirt pocket, works well. There are a few things you need to be aware of: The Desire is a highly complex piece of kit. That means that it will take you some time and effort to read the manual and learn how to use it. It also means the phone breaks easily. I had mine for 6 days, then the WIFI stopped working and the phone is in for repair right now. Internal memory is another problem. Apps download into internal memory, and it took me only 4 days from delivery of my brandnew phone to fill it up completely. The phone then stops working properly without telling you what is wrong. You can manually transfer a small percentage of apps to the memory card to preserve internal memory. Some apps can be transferred, others can’t, I estimate I was able to transfer about 20% of my apps to memory card. The Desire does not connect to the bluetooth handsfree setup in my car, which mutes the radio and routes the phone through the cars loudspeakers and built in microphone, because the Desire does not support rSPA profile on bluetooth. I also find the touch keyboard very slow and frustrating, had a full QWERTY keyboard on my previous phone and typing was three times faster and less error prone. The optical trackball is another piece of equipment on the Desire which I do not like. It moves very slow, character by character. The screen is phantastic, very bright and clear and with some care you only have to charge the phone overnight which is normal for a smartphone. There are some amazing applications out there, and the available storage space (32 GB) allows you to download a number of ebooks, music, films and photos. As it is an Android device it should be possible to use the new sdxc memory cards with up to 2 TB (62 X 32 GB!) capacity and ultrafast read and write transfer once a system upgrade has been made. These cards have been presented at a number of computer shows and should become available within the next two years. They will be expensive at first, but the manufacturing cost is the same as for the 32GB micro sdhc cards, which have a theoretical 2TB capacity but are limited to 32 GB because of OS limitations. So eventually the price will come down. Just imagine having 2 TB storage capacity on a chip half the size of a fingernail!

can anyone tell me if there is any free voice navigation for the Desire because I like the phone very much but the voice navigation is very important to me.

Hi all, would people please stop moaning about the battery life and do a little research. Open your eyes and the solution is simple right in front of you. Once again, I'll repost my previous post. Please refer to the below and pass on to all other smart phone users. Also advise those who intend to get a smart phone too so that they know they can enjoy their battery.
                                        ----------------------------------------------------

I will be getting my first HTC phone at the end of this month or at the latest, the end of October. The HTC Desire was pefect for me but I was hesitant about the battery. I know all smart phones have poor batteries. I am never keen on the idea of charging the phone daily. Also I play games on my phone so I wanted a beast of a battery. Anyway with a little online research, I have found you can buy extended batteries on the internet. If you google search HTC Desire Mugen 3200 battery or Seidio Innocell HTC Desire, you will see batteries that are twice, three times or even four times stronger than the one that comes with the phone. So those worried about the battery life, her is the solution. Also if you type in you tube search engine, "your phone model" followed by the word "Extended Battery", you will see further info. Thank God I didn't get an iphone4. Thank God I am finally leaving Nokia. Thank God for Android and the Taiwan wonder HTC
