HTC can make great phone but must need good or great backup services to archieve great height. Cos In my experience, HTC Customer Services is the lousiest and laziest of all the brands i've tried. Whatever problem you bring up, big or small, all they have is one standard response, "bring your unit to service center for replacement". They don't even read your complaints at all. It took me several complaints to force them to respond in a slightly different way. But still, all useless PR craps. Not one bit that can help you solve a problem. This is for email complaints. As for calling the hotline, nevermind. I've tried calling hotline several times, all i ever get is fax tone sounds. Nobody ever pick up the hotline.

Quadrant score with OpenDesire is above 1400, and the Quadrant score for Galaxy S with its latest beta Froyo xxjph is stil below 1000.
I really recommend install latest OpenDesire and latest "radio", even though it does not have FM-radio.

Has anybody experienced continuous phone reboot/restart of HTC Desire? I have been experiencing it for 1 week already and I noticed it happened every time the phone gets hot (even if not charging). I'm frustrated since I just bought it two weeks ago here in Philippines, and I'm already encountering this problem too often. Pls help.

HTC can make more than one phone, but they should a least try to make one "perfect phone" ever 6 month. By perfect I do not meen maximum camera resolution and both xenon and led flash, but the phone should have everything like a flash and led is better as it can be used as light when recording movies and as a flashligt for finding things in the dark, and the camera resolution should be minimum 5mp and stereo FM-radio and 2 Gb internal memory... Perfect is not the same as maximum of everything, but a perfect phone should be able to do everything like taking pictures and ...

TC, 19 Sep 2010OpenDesire can be found here forum.xda-developers.com/showt... moreYou don't always get new technology every 6 months. And 6 months is too long for a pure mobile phone manufacturer like HTC. They are not like Apple, where they can make a phone and just last for 1 year. Apple also uses their iMac, iPod, iPad, MacBook's sales to last them for 1 year.

It is possible to always try to make the perfect phone, and because technology constantly improves and gets better they can still make customers buy a new phone 6 months as they always implement the latest technology in their phones. They would sell more phones if they made a phone with all the top technology that exists today, and in 6 months that technology is outdated so they then can make another "perfect phone". Not having a led-flash on the Galaxy S or a front facing camera or fully functional 3G-connection software on the Desire is simply stupid and makes customers choose a phone from someone else.

TC, 18 Sep 2010The "radio" I installed is fixing most of my conn... moreYes, like anonymous pointed out, they do not make a super-phone because they want to leave room for improvement, which will make you want to continue interaction with the company through upgrades and updates. If let's say Desire was a "perfect" super-phone, they will not be Desire HD already. This is to make people who are willing to spend to constantly buy new phone. Few months ago, you bought Desire. Few months later, Desire HD is out, and you want to change your Desire for a Desire HD.

Also, it is almost impossible to please everyone with ALL the functions. They have a lot of balancing to do. If they add everything in, the phone will be very big and bulky. That's why they have to make compromises here and there so that they can fit a lot of thing in a manageable-sized device. I can't imagine how bulky a phone is gonna be if it has a 4" Super Amoled screen, 12MP camera with Xenon flash and Dual LED flash, 32GB internal memory with SD card slot, 1GHZ processor, FM radio, Divx support, projector, secondary camera and many more.

Even if they really squeeze lots of things into 1 bulky device, they will please some, but also turn some down. Some like big phones for the big screen, some prefer to handle a smaller phone. You can never please EVERYONE in the world.

The "radio" I installed is fixing most of my connection problems, but it still disconnects/freezes/looses 3G-connection to often to be ok, even though it loose connection much less often than before. HTC needs to continue fixing their "radio"-driver before it is ok enough. I love Desire but the connection-problems make me go back to Galaxy S. Another problem I have found is that even though more and more apps can be installed on the sd-card they still install parts on the internal memory so the smalll internal memory in Desire is fast proving to small even with the ability to move apps to sd. OpenDesire lets me install almost all apps on sd but even there the apps install parts on the internal memory.
Galaxy S does initially feel a lot less comfortable to hold in my hand, but after having used for a longer period now it actually feel more comfortable than the Desire because its low weight and thin body really makes a difference. Galaxy S has a lot of its own problems but they are most caused by TouchWiz wich I think is the only reason why Galaxy S is lagging. I think s-lcd looks better than Super A,oled, but the screen on Galaxy S is a lot more responsive than the one on Desire.
The conection-problems on Desire makes me never want to by a phone from HTC again because I don not want to risk getting the same connection-problems on my next phone. Nokia never has any connection-problems but today their screen-resolutions are to small and batteries are also to small and Symbian really sucks. And SonyEricsson is the slowest of all companies and still have nothing more than Android 1.6 on X10 and probably newer ever will give 2.2 to X10. IPhone is not worth the extra money. Samsung seems to produce to many phones that they simply forget about support for "older" phones.
Why can not anyone combine all existing technology to a perfekt phone instead of producing a lot of phones that always has something missing? Apple proves that you do not need to produce many different phones but actually an make more money on less but better supported phones.
