I hope, you see why can't we take you seriously.
It does matter that X10 looks well from outside, but it does not Desire Sense looks better from inside.

pH1, 20 Apr 2010"1. Desire looks very basic and has no wow factor visu... more1. compared to Desire, X10 is definitely stunning. i saw people gushing over it in the store at the first look.
2. why can't i have a good cam in a high end phone ? I'll grant you that 5 MP isn't bad, however the performance is worse than my old N95 5 MP cam. by your argument, if people want more memory they should buy a desktop, or the iPhone users can say, if u want multitasking, go buy a desktop or a laptop. that argument doesn't work.
3. screen: as i said in both of my posts, you need to see the phones side by side to make a true comparison, not go by the specs or the videos or reviews. i have seen and played with both phones side by side.
4. X10 does support 32 GB. check any of the X10 blogs or forums.
5. 4GB : GSM Arena and techradar both say Desire ships with 4 GB. however i'll take your word for it. That goes to show how much u can trust online reviews.
6. X10 no multitasking ? are you kidding ? Multi-tasking works fine in X10.
7. multitouch: i said its a personal preference because it depends on how people prefer to work in their apps whereas camera is a hardware and spec issue. if it is really that important, X10 will have it in Sep. apparently your perfect phone also has to wait for video upgrade and app memory issue for which there is no date yet.
8. performance: my friend's X10 works fine. transitions and apps both. he did turn off the animations because of the battery drain, but HTC isn't faring much better in the battery issue either.
10. Sense UI. i agree it has more eye candy, but does it help users to accomplish tasks more efficinetly than SE's UI ? i would say not, but if someone prefers a more catchy interface i wouldn't fault them either, just keep an eye on that battery meter however.
9. price: well if you found them to be equally priced then obviously you wouldn't buy it for the more expensive price. i found them at an identical price as well, and without having to search too much, actually on my first hit.
in the end, i did say ( in both of my posts btw), that this is MY take. i suggested users should try the phones first hand and not rely on reviews or spec sheets or videos as we all know they can be biased or manipulated or just plain wrong. for e.g some posted a techradar review for X10, and so i read it. it was hilarious. the reviewer obviously had a pre-production sample because 50% of his review was just inaccurate. I also checked the Desire review on techradar and it was funny how if the Desire was lacking in anything the reviewer let it off with a tap on the wrist or had some explaination for it whereas if he didn't like anything in the X10, however minor, he presented as a major drawback. If X10 got something right, he was quick to either attribute to Android OS or say " well thats to be expected". lol. i mean, if these reviewers are going to biased, atleast try to be subtle, or atleast don't present it as fact. bottomline, try the phones first hand!
For the sake of fairness, even if the Desire wins on couple of points that u mentioned, it loses on all the other points. On aggregate, X10 still wins. in my opinion. :)

Sarkish, 20 Apr 2010" You dont know anything about smartphones..MAN You ca... moreYou weren't fair and objective. You know why? Every each category in which Desire wins you called draw or "it's based on own personal preference". How can this be objective?? So the camera is important if X10 is better at it and multitouch, number of colors on display is somehow "personal preference". And that draws in every category in which Desire arguably wins are ridiculous. Look, I don't say you are lying but that little overview you made is completely based on what is important for you in a phone and written completely matching your own taste which obviously leans towards X10 and that's SUBJECTIVE, not objective... If you wan't to be objective you should overcome your own personal preferences and watch wider picture what you are most likely, not able to. And one more thing... You didn't even hold Desire in your hands, but if you had based your review on watching videos you should see this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UzNYvHMz-A and spare yourself all this...
Desire is better in overall performance and that is not my impression, it's provable, just like the fact that Desire has Sense UI, which most people consider the best Android interface and, unlike X10, it has Android 2.1 (When you get your update on 2.1 in September, new version of Android will be on its way). Finally, Desire it's cheaper then X10. I rest my case.

Sarkish, 19 Apr 2010I was waiting for the Desire to compare it to the X10, and ... more"1. Desire looks very basic and has no wow factor visually. X10 on the other hand, is stunning to look at, and immediately draws compliments. X10 wins."
--> ok agreed x10 has better design but its not stunning. other phones hv had similar designs.
"2. Desire offers only 120 MB available for apps. yes i know about rooting etc but that also voids my warranty so i'm not willing to go that route. X10 offers atleast 500 MB for apps. X10 wins."
--> ok less internal memory but android will soon allow users to store apps to sd cards. speaking of sd cards, htc desire support more upgradeable memory. and it has a greater possible total memory.
"3. Desire camera performance is average to poor at times. for people arguing that camera doesn't matter, if for nothing else it matters for direct features comparison to a similar rival product. X10's camera is great. X10 wins."
--> if u want a good cam, u go buy a 12mpx cam phone.
"4. Desire's video performance is even worse. no excuse for a high end phone to still offer 15 fps video recording, its embarrassing. X10 video recording while not exactly 720p, comes pretty close. X10 wins."
--> at lower res its easier to record at higher fps. lower the res to get more fps. also there likely will be a software update for this.
"5. Desire has the goodness of the AMOLED screen, however in the day light and outdoors, its worthless. X10 has a TFT screen, but same resolution as Desire, it is bigger and it is scratch resistant. with the 2.1 update now confirmed for Sep 2010, X10 will also have 16 Million colors. as it is, it still looks fantastic even in 65k and its more usable in all kinds of light conditions. based on real word usage and implications, X10 wins."
--> hang on. x10 loses here. not only does desire have more dpi or ppi, it also supports more colors. (yes i know x10 will get 16mil w/ android v2.1). compare them in these pics:
http://www.gsmarena.com/showpic.php3?sImg=reviewsimg/htc-desire/review/phone/gsmarena_006.jpg
http://www.gsmarena.com/showpic.php3?sImg=reviewsimg/htc-desire/review/phone/gsmarena_007.jpg
x10 is worse at both outdoor and indoor.
"7. Desire and X10 both support upto 32 GB memory. Draw."
wrong. not only does gsmarena say x10 supports up to 16gb but so does the sony ericsson website.
"8. Desire ships with 4 GB card. X10 ships with 16 GB here in canada and 8 GB else where. X10 wins."
--> where i am desire is over €100 cheaper and comes with 8gb. x10 win? i dont think so. this is location dependent so u cant call it a win either.
"9. Desire has Android 2.1 with Sense UI, X10 has 1.6 with SE's customized UI, Timescape and Mediascape.. on first look, Desire should have the advantage here but its not that straightforward. SE have added some 2.1 features in their UI and a full 2.1 update is coming in Sep 2010, and from some reports it may even be a 2.2 update. at that point both phones should have the same OS. as it is, i didn't feel any disadvantage using the 1.6. it felp crisp and fast and certainly not outdated compared to the Desire. i'd leave this for personal preference."
--> 1.6 disadvantages include (but r not limited to):
- no multitouch
- no multitasking
- 65k color limit
also sony's ui is much more demanding on the processor and it has less ram.
"10. Desire has multitouch. X10 doesn't. personally i didn't miss the multitouch as i'm not a gamer. for zooming in and out of web pages or pics, i find it more efficient to use one finger to tap the +/- than use two fingers for multitouch. again, personal preference."
--> didnt u say that for direct comparison of specs for camera u wud give the advantage to x10. well u cant hv it both ways, saying that it doesnt need the features it doesnt hv, while at the same time criticizing htc desire for lacking others. this is a definite htc win.
"11. Performace wise, i found the Desire and X10 both to be similarly speedy. in benchmark tests, i can see the Desire has the upper hand, however in real time use, i couldn't tell any difference. If anything, i was expecting Desire to be much faster than X10 based on more RAM and 2.1 but sadly i found the performances very similar. based on real world usage, i'd call this a draw as well."
--> weird cos i found the x10 slow and laggy with lots of animations to stall for time before i actually got what i want on the screen. dont get me wrong the animations r sorta fun but they do waste time.
"12. Desire has no voice dialing. X10 does. its an important feature for me since in canada driving and using your cell phone without a handsfree is illegal. X10 wins."
--> theres an app for voice calling: voice dialer hf. theres probably more apps as well.
"13. Pricing for both phones is very similar. for e.g i found both phones listed at 614.99 at an online retailer featured in GSM Arena so i'm not sure how some people have stated that X10 is much more expensive than Desire. in canada u can find it for $100 with a contract and around $540 without contract. i'm sure prices will drop even more as they did with Samsung Galaxy, Palm Pre or Nokia N97. in UK, you can get X10 for $0.00 and £25 plans. not pricey at all."
--> its dependent on location but so far i hvnt found an unlocked x10 for cheaper than the desire. they are either equally priced or more expensive

--> i wud guess that the problem is for that particular model. there will always be defective products made by any company. he cud tilt the keyboard landscape and maybe that wud solve the problem. but that phone shud be sent back/replaced.
"This is related to the screen quality: http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab...led-display/"
--> they put a lot of time and effort into testing it out. i wud hv just gone with a shot of the display compared to other models so u get a better idea.
in dark:

under light:

amoled is very good in dark conditions but worse under sunlight for instance. however, i hope u agree that in both conditions the htc desire looks better than its rival: the x10. samsungs super amoled however is the best display in all conditions.
"Until now I do not find any official information telling "this is only a software issue that will be fixed soon"... :(
I hope it becomes solved as soon as possible... :("
--> i wud guess there r just some defective models. but i agree its certainly is a shame for what is otherwise a v good phone.

A review of the X10 has just been released on www.techradar.com.
All I can say is the desire was techradar's first and only 5 star phone, whereas the x10 manages a pretty average 4 stars, with the keyboard, contacts menu and timescape getting a particular battering!
Come on guys, shall we leave it to the experts now?

Anonymous, 20 Apr 2010Man im sure that you buy x10 and you just want to make your... more" You dont know anything about smartphones..MAN You cant compare HTC with SONY for smartphones.. "
why not ? if you know so much about smart phones then you probably know that its not about the brand or the manufacturer. its about the OS, its features integration with the hardware and it has to offer premium features. premium features used to be only about business applications but these days that doesn't cut it anymore, so your high end smartphone has to do business apps and media and entertainment, all in one. and as i compared feature to feature, X10 comes out on top.
" can't even bring himself round to say that Desire has better OS and interface .. "
No i can't, because i'm not a fanboy and i'm not blind. i don't care if the version says 2.1 or 7.0. the bottom line for the consumer is if it has enough upgrades, practical upgrades compared to the previous version to justify going all gaga over it. so what does 2.1 have that is so essential ? multitouch ? i covered that and my opinion of it. 16 mill colors ? covered that as well. excahnge compatibility ? X10 has that too. as for the HTC interface, sure its nice. the one on X10 is just as eye catching and for me personally more grown up and sophisticated looking than Sense UI. so yeah, its a personal preference.
i did a fair and objective comparison. i haven't read anyone actually refute any of the points i made logically or factually, only retarded personal insults. Also, one cannot form opinions and pass judgements based on spec sheets, online reviews and watching videos. trust me thats only scratching the surface. u have to go to the store and do a side by side comparison. if spec sheets were enough, no one would ever need to actually play the World series, they'd just hand it over to the Yankees every single year.

I was waiting for the Desire to compare it to the X10, and now i've seen both, played with both and as an impartial consumer, here's my take:
1. Desire looks very basic and has no wow factor visually. X10 on the other hand, is stunning to look at, and immediately draws compliments. X10 wins.
2. Desire offers only 120 MB available for apps. yes i know about rooting etc but that also voids my warranty so i'm not willing to go that route. X10 offers atleast 500 MB for apps. X10 wins.

6. Desire and X10 both have Snapdragon 1 GHz CPU. Draw.
7. Desire and X10 both support upto 32 GB memory. Draw.
8. Desire ships with 4 GB card. X10 ships with 16 GB here in canada and 8 GB else where. X10 wins.
9. Desire has Android 2.1 with Sense UI, X10 has 1.6 with SE's customized UI, Timescape and Mediascape.. on first look, Desire should have the advantage here but its not that straightforward. Thats my take and for me X10 wins handily. Feel free to make up your own mind based on your personal experience, your expectations and your needs. thanks for reading.
