Jayne, 05 Apr 2010Hi Ross, thanks for your brilliant information on the Desir... moreI was on Orange before I bought the phone. Orange stores/online correspondence said they won't be getting it until the second week of April, but they aren't sure. Instead I went to Carphone Warehouse, Orange we're the best deal: £30 24month contract, free phone, 500mins, unlimited txts (subject to fair usage/3000), unlimited internet (subject to fair usage/500MB) and unlimited Push email. No-where could match that.
As for the deals O2 will offer, I've no idea. That's up to you what you want to do, that's the best deal I could find at the moment.

Ross.

I have at the moment got an Iphone 3Gs and am considering changing to the Desire. I, like yourself, have been set on the Experia X10 and went to see it in the 02 shop on Saturday and was not that impressed with it as I thought I would be. The fact that it has only got the 1.6 android version and the Desire is 2.1 is not good, also did not think the screen was as responsive as the desire. I will probably get the Desire but at present dont know whether to wait for 02 to bring it out (I am on 02 at present) or just get it on either Orange or Vodaphone (cant make my mind up which one) and pay off my 02 contract,

      Hi all,

Qamar - Web browsing is fast and easy. The WiFi is preferable over the network internet, in settings it states "Mobile network - use phone for data connection when Wi-Fi is unavailable" which is very useful. You have the normal bookmarks, windows, forward, back etc functions. When zooming in, double tap or multi-touch the text is automatically resized to the width of the screen which is very handy, saves constant side to side browsing. As for the size of the phone, it's pretty much identicle to an iPhone. Very slightly (~5mm) taller. Lighter and easier to handle than an iPhone it seems to the touch also.
I also have turned on GPS location to street level, which warns you it uses more battery life.

tibor - I had my heart set on an X10 for the last 2 months or so? Only recently a friend suggested a Desire and I still wanted the X10 when comparing specs. Went to the shop and had a look at them side by side. The X10 seems alot bigger and not as pleasing to the eye. The latest review on here of the X10 put me off it also, glad it did! Also the X10 being on a lower version of android and lacking multi-touch put me off. I used it pretty much all day yesterday, emails, games, apps, chat etc and when I came to put it on charge it was on "orange" battery, what % that is I'm unsure, but it wasn't red. I'd recommend reading the new review on the X10 page, it highlights alot of things that may sway your decision, it did mine.

Ness - For picture/video sending you have the following options: B
Video: Bluetooth, Google Mail, Mail, Messages, Youtube
Pictures: Bluetooth, Facebook, Facebook for HTC Sense, Flickr, Google Mail, Mail, Messages, Peep, Picasa.
Quite a comprehensive list of sharing methods!
My friends has a HD2 and it's HUGE!! put me right off, but he likes it!

It came with a free 4Gb MicroSD card in the phone also, which is where the manual, software etc is location. You connect your phone to PC, drag down the top bar and select what method you want it to connect by. You can mount the card as a drive which is how you load data etc.

The only niggle I can pick out of the whole phone is the keypad is a tiny bit more compact than an iPhones when in portrait so I keep hitting the wrong button, but the phone auto-correction pretty much gets it right everytime. Can't think of any bad points for it yet really.

      Anything else, just ask!

      Ross.

Ross, 05 Apr 2010Hi, I've had the desire since Friday and I must say it's a ... moreHi Ross,

First of all congratulations for your perfect phone! :) I really hope that U'll enjoy it...:)

I'm an iPhone 3G user too, and I want to switch or trade it off for this phone, I was considering HD2 but WinMo OS made me to go a step-behind, cuz I know it sucks :S

I believe that this phone is far far better than the iPhone that makes me to STUCK with its Possibilities! :S

I have one qustion for which I never found an answer:

Dos the Desire have BLUETOOTH SENDING (I mean photo, videos, song sendin over Bluetooth) ??

And in advanace if you can give me your hands-on experience for this phone I'll be glad totally..:)

        Thnx from now..Ness.

Hi, I've had the desire since Friday and I must say it's a fantasic phone. I've swapped from an iPhone to the desire and it's buckets better. The screen is fantastic, it's lightening fast and does everything you ask of it. It copes with multitasking very well. One good app to get is "Advanced Task Killer" which allows you to close apps that are open in the background and saves speed (not that you notice) and battery life.

I'll try answer some of the questions people have asked:
                  - The speaker is plenty loud enough, good sound but at max volume is a little tin-like, but nothing to worry about. It comes with headphones with an inline pause/play and skip tracks either direction which is fantastic. Allows you to switch track without even getting your phone out!
                  - Texting / IM is very fast, you can choose in settings which features you want to (or not to) flash the LED which received: Missed call, SMS/MMS, Email, Voice mail, Reminders, Alarms.
                  - I bought mine from carphone warehouse and by doing so it is sim unlocked even though I went on an orange contract. If you go to Orange directly it's locked to Orange.
                  - You can buy the Desire SIM free and unlocked off play.com for £439.99
                  - Battery life isn't the best, but look at what it's doing.. multi-tasking, running a picture perfect screen with a 1Ghz processor... it's not going to last long. I've so far been messing with it all day and charging over night and the battery just goes to orange colour when I put it on charge.

If anyone wants me to answer anything directly about the phone just ask as it's an expensive phone to buy if you're not sure about something.

                  Ross.

I am on 02 at the moment and am trying to wait until they get the Desire lol! can get it unlocked at carphonewarehouse but have heard such conflicting advice as regards settings for mms/wap... 02 obviously say that I would not be able to get it to work until they support the phone... looked on internet and have found that it is possible to get it to work... not sure at moment if I want to chance it...

... In my opinion it's like driving a supercar; it may need to be refueled every few miles, but it runs so well/fast that it doesn't seem to matter.

I will be getting the desire on Tuesday. I was watching some videos on you tube and one said that you need to charge the battery for 24 hours before use and you will get more out of it.
