I can't play avi video on my htc desire A8181. I have downloaded a few apps but only QQ player is able to play avi format and that too badly. some of the other players can only play audio from the file and not video. please help.

Guys, I need your Urgent feedback. I am planning to buy either HTC Desire or Samsung Galaxy ACE... However, I heard that Desire has some 'hanging' problems and the music quality on the earphone is not great... Can anyone confirm this... Please help

I have a question concerning the desire, I want to know the difference and advantage btw the A1882 and A8183 desire. Being an american, I'm planning to buy one I can use in US, when in Europe and Africa cos I traveled alot.

downloaded QQPlayer from the market last night, it enabled me to play my mkv videos, nice app! also downloaded Free Music Download, nice app as well, very easy to get tunes.. regarding the "battery trick," i noticed my battery life to increase from 14-17hours to 24hours of heavy usage (3hours audio, 2hours video, 2-3hrs wifi browsing, 200++ text messages, 2-3 1minute calls), me and my wife text a lot so sometimes 200txts is not enough.. keep you guys posted

If you want to change your message tone, on the All messages screen, press MENU and then tap Settings.
Then select what you need from the following options-
Received notification
Select this option if you want to receive a notification in the status bar when a new text or multimedia message arrives.
Play notification sound
If you want the phone to ring when a new message arrives, select this option.
Notification sound
Select a ring tone that is specific to new text and multimedia messages. Note that the ring tone briefly plays when selected.

Absolutely right. Well said. It does all boil down to personal choice and what the individual wants from a phone.
The Nokia N8's browser is an absolute joke at the moment, utter rubbish. The Desires browser on the other hand is considered the best out of all the smartphones.
I myself am a long term Symbian user and find the new Symbian^3 to be a massive improvement on previous versions but it still is quite buggy and needs a serious firmware upgrade to sort it out.
I've only had my Samsung Galaxy S for a week and find Android to be quite user friendly but it is missing some features that Symbian has such as automatic WiFi connection when it's in range of a known WiFi network. It is annoying to have to remember to switch wireless on and off manually, but I'm sure Ill get used to it eventually.

Wolverine, 28 Feb 2011Just wondering how you all cope/manage with the lack of mem... moreI use a custom ROM which moves the data partition to the sd card... that basically means I have as much space for my apps as I want. I've set up a 1GB partition dedicated to apps.
There are numerous tips and scripts that can do this, easiest if you just load a ROM that takes care of it for you though.
I realise that it's not exactly the easiest of solutions for everyone out there, but it works.

since most of the forum said its a hardware problem and it can never be solve.. any answers?
