After extensive use of Desire 816 for 1 week,here is my review of the same:
Pros:
1.The phone has a beautiful screen.The ppi as per specification is low but it doesnt affect your viewing experience. Overall the screen is sharp and produces pleasant colours.Dont worry about the PPI as normal naked eyes cant differentiate higher ppi.Its all marketing gimmick
2.There is no lag at all.The phone works smoothly and fast.Not even a single time has my phone shown symptoms of lag or slaggishness. Kudos to HTC for carving out such a super speed out of just 1.5GB RAM as compared to 2GB and 3GB RAMs on other high end devices.
3.The camera in day light is very good.The details are good and the pic quality is quite punchy.
4.The design is also very good.Its sleek and stylish and looks sexy as hell from front.Though the back is glossy and easily attracts sctraches,u can easily laminate the back and slip it inside a nice flip cover.Flip cover is essential for big phones anyhow.The phone feels solid in hand and quite nice to hold.
5.I have a dark grey one and I love this colour.
Overall a decent phone if you dont have high expectations from your phone and you want the things you require to run smoothly.
CONS:
1.Low internal memory.Keeping in view the fact that the phone comes with Android Kitkat pre installed and google has put on several restrictions for SD cards on this Kitkat platform.You cant rename or move files in SD card.Also there is no system file manager.YOu have to download it from Play Store.I have downloaded "ES file Explorer".There is no folder lock kind of software as present to hide your private picz/videos/files. There is one app lock software that can lock the entire application.Like if you want to lock some of your pictures or video then you cant do that.The only option left to you will be to lock the entire gallery application.You cant selectively lock specific files or folders.I have searched extensively on play store and all the people reporting that they have failed to retrieve their locked files on Kitkat version.Its disappointing. Also you cant move all the applications to external SD. There are very few applications that can be moved.You can however move all the pics and videos and other documents to the external card.So I think at least 16GB internal memory was required.
2.Though ppl talk highly about its boom sound speakers,I dont find anything special in it.Despite its dual front firing speakers the loudness is very average. I cant comment on the quality as its good and so is it one other phones too.I failed to find the reason of such a highly acclaimed boom sound speakers.
3.Battery life is average and its takes a long time to get charged via USB.Though it gets charged relatively quickly when you attach the charger to power outlet. Nothing great to mention about the battery life.Its mediocare. But average use is sufficent to give you 18-20 hrs of backup.
4.The camera quality in low light is pathetic. Nthing to mention.But it can be forgiven as even most high end phones perform poorly in low light unless the phone has been manufactured keeping in the camera crazy customers.I have a Nokia 808 pureview too and it blows HTC away in camera quality both in day and low light.However for average use,the camera can be considered good.
So for those people who are desirous of having a phablet with all the basics covered and without a hefty price tag attached, Desire 816 is the one for you.Please dont compare it with Samsung S4 or other high end devices.See the 3 Ps(PRICE,POCKET AND PRIORITIES).With the kind of price it comes at, its the best buy without any second thought.

Guys those of you who are in confussion about the devices:
htc desire 816,xperia t2 ultra,galaxy grand 2,galaxy note 3 neo.
I have researched on this four devices.And heres my opinion.
Among these four normally the best screen is of note3 neo its sharper than its contender and it too has gorilla glass.
But while watching movies and photos the t2 ultra and desire 816 had more sharp view.In cameras the best is desire 816 but t2 ultra can capture better images than desire 816 in low light.
In speed the desire 816 is faster than its competitor and doesnt even lag but people may think the note3 neo maybe faster as it has hexacore.but its core doesnt work at a time.All the phones have overheating issue so thats not the matter to worry.All the phones have decent battery life and the best is note 3 neo it lasted for 10h22m and the desire 816 lasted 8h45m t2 ultra lasted 8h40m and the last grand2 only 8h22m.All are used with same works.The desire 816 had the best sound amongst the four.The sound is not the loudest but the quality is the best.The desire 816 and the t2 ultra has the best design the sense 6 and bravia engine is really good.In ram and internal memory the note3 neo is winner and better for gaming and apps.Overall if you want to purchase note3 neo if you pay more than the other three.But within decent price you better go for desire 816 or t2 ultra.The ultra is a bit bigger than the others but not dufficult to handle.

N 3 ho... moreDude it depends, sometimes, on charger not on mobile.
If u saw, oppo find 7 take 30 min charge 75% bcoz its charger's output current is 4 amps
But yes sometimes it depends on mobile too
And u r right, usind charger of other compony is not good for both, charger as well mobile

1. Battery is not gud as it is a phablet
2 . Only 8gb memory is there and only 4 gb is available to use and it's ok but we cannot all apps to sd card and all downloads( music what's app chat backup pictures ) save into internal automatically and the main prob is we cannot move this stuff to sd card without the help of PC so what the use of sd card and HTC says u can insert a card upto 128 gb
3. HTC says this phone has sense 6 yes it has but some features are not there of sense 6 zoe always it shows coming soon double tap on the screen to wake up missing .
4 . The ppi is low in comparisson to it has a large screen
5 . At a time only 9 apps can be open if we open 10 th app automatically 1st app closes so only 9 apps multitasking can be done
6. Non removable battery the first disadvatage of it is at the time goes it decreases the battery life second when phone hangs what to do we cannot remove the battery to restart it
7. When I play music I don't think the sound as much loud as
It is described in the specification that it has two boom sound speakers the sound is normal just like with other phones
8 . It doesn't have any default file explorer we have to download it
But I must say the processor is gud it runs very fast it doesn't take time to load and doesn't lag and the day light camera is gud New features in gallery slideshow of ur photos is running when u visit the gallery

read this and you will come out of your perception regarding more megapixels means better image quality ........ http://www.gizmag.com/camera-sensor-size-guide/26684/ ..... so i mean to say that even a 8 mp camera mobile can produce far more better quality pics than a 13 mp....its the sensor size ultimately what matters most

AnonD-270577, 14 Jun 2014 when we take pictures in the dark room HTC desire 816 came... moreIts true what you have said regarding 816 but comparing it to 2 mp..u must be kidding bro...after all its not that bad...yes if you compare the low light pics of my sony xperia u with htc desire 816 low light pics you will be compelled to admit that even sony xperia u with 5 mp delivers quality images in low light than 816 13 mp.And all those who know about camera's very well know that its not only mp that matters...quality of camera sensor used matters more...if you use a poor quality sensor with more mp it will only produce average pics... So i say it once again don't expect too much from rear camera of 816 in low light photography...earlier i was planning to purchase one for me but after seeing its camera performance i decided to quit idea of purchase for a while as i think very soon other companies will be bringing competitive mobiles to htc desire 816 with maybe better camera quality

when we take pictures in the dark room HTC desire 816 camera very poor when we take pictures are very blurry and of a very poor quality even 2 megapixel can take a better picture with flash in dark room . Can anyone tell me it happens with me only or all HTC 816 has this poor quality camera but I must say without flash in day light it is very good. Trust me don't buy it if it doesn't matter to u the phone is awesome reply fast it happens with my devise or other buyers have the same problem (only reply those who have this device and facing same a problem )

Same ppi.
Note 3 neo has faster processor for games.
Means when games and benchmarks run the mbl use quad core processor.
but when user use normal apps like whatsapp, n all other app. Den mbl use dual core processor, which makes apps slow..
16 gb internal. Note 3 neo
3100 mah battery
Rear cam 8mp
Front 2mp
Htc desire 816
Better camera rear cam 13mp
Front 5mp
