AnonD-7260, 11 May 2011Mine restarts at random, like 2-3 times a day. This is very... moreHave you tried to change its original software? If yes, this may be the cause, maybe new software is unstable or was wrongly installed. If you are running stock soft then could be a phone problem -> RMA. I already have 2, me and my girlfriend, and they are just fine, no restart, nothing, just great phones.
Btw I posted yesterday some very small review but it is not listed here :( yet.

Siva, 12 May 2011I bought the phone a week ago and it has been performing so... morehey,
dat was really nice reading your views on the HTC DESIRE S, Please suggest me as to which phone I should opt for between DESIRE S, INCREDIBLE S, SENSATION. Currently I am a HTC DESIRE user and quite satisfied with my phone except for the fact that it lacks internal memory and the battery back is not up to the mark.
My current phone has an AMOLED display unlike the new phones with SLCD...as to my information SLCD consumes more battery and is not a very good display in sunlight...please correct me if I am wrong.
    Thank you

and here desire s is the winner
coz galaxy s is a year old and wo'nt get any updates after 2.3 and neo have many problems like low internal and its ram is half than that of desire s ...
So i would say that go for desire s with your eyes closed and you won't regret it i guarantee you..

Are you sure you weren't checking for the light leak in light conditions? I've seen it on both mine and some random model at Vodafone. Maybe it's just this batch.

Anyway, I would recommend this phone, the features are great. My only issue is the build quality, which many others here praise. The screens aren't fit perfectly into their frames and there is the light leak issue already mentioned a couple times. What actually does annoy me though is the squeaky battery cover. My friend has the cheap LG Optimus One and even though the whole unit is made of the same plastic that the desire s battery cover is of, it doesn't make a noise no matter how hard you press it. The aluminum body itself is great as expected, shame they included the 2 plastic pieces, even though most people like them. At the point I slap on a silicone case it won't matter anyway though, heh.

Well that's my rant on the issues most people don't even notice, I stress out that the phone is great and super fast and the screen is very responsive. No software issues some mentioned on my side.

Battery lasts for a full day under heavy usage, otheriwise I think it can last up to 2 days (with some features disabled and not so much internet traffic). I have it since 10 days and is just great. The only phone that I may change it for is the HTC Sensation, but for now this is the perfect phone for me: very nice design, perfect size (can fit in my pocket, yet has a big disply), super fast, great software, etc

Should i go for this one or the SE Neo? Camera is not a priority, rather i would want a phone that will be fed with constant updates (like 2.4, 2.5 ....) atleast for 1-1.5 years. Even custom roms will do. So does this make the desire s a better choice. Also, will the low internal memory of neo be a problem?? Also, how is the Galaxy S in this price range? Please reply.

That was a wonderful comment which tells all the in and outs of this phone.
Mostly 80% of the ppl, read all the opinions and they wont bounce back with their opinion abt their phone once they get it.

                      In my opinion.
when we are ready to spend some 24k to this phone.
I think it misses some extra accessories.
It would be great if this phone comes with extra pannel and a pouch,
even Samsung ACE which is in range of 15k comes with an extra white color pannel and a beautiful leather pouch.

I think this is one of the important accessories which is missing not only in desire S,in overall HTC(except HTC Google Nexus one).

Coming to the hardware side, its awesome phone. My friend bought this phone last saturday. In his opinion he is very much satisfied with the phone except the pouch.

Last but not least, Thanks for GSM Arena. With the help of this site,My friend is very happy with his phone :) He almost spend some 6 hours a day for past one month to get a phone. Crazy fellow :P

This apparently is due to whether the application has been tested, then possibly modified and tagged as QVGA compatible. Therefor it is up to the developer. Some apps won't be compatible because they need a higher density (display real estate) to be usable and worthy of the developers interest at heart. Currently there are a large number of apps on the android market that are downloadable for QVGA displays.

does the number of supported apps for a android phone depends on the type of resolution it has (i.e. 240x340,
                          340x480,
                          Or
                          480x800

I want to buy a budget android phone which has most supported apps

I bought the phone a week ago and it has been performing so well. I am totally satisfied with this.
Let me start with the things which raised lot of concerns before buying this phone.

                            1. Light Leak - I couldn't see any light leaks anywhere. I looked in as many ways i can. But no where I could see any light leaks. So this can be ruled out.

                            2. Grip of Death - Grip of death do exists in this phone. I have my Wifi router in my living room and I used access internet from my bed room which is 20 feet away. There is no problem while using it in portrait mode. When i switch to landscape and hold the plastic top(near camera and flash), Wifi signal reduces by 1 or 2 bars. But no impact in the speed. When I move out of my home (40 feet away from wifi router) and hold the plastic part, Wifi signal completely drops.
To investigate further, I did the same test in HTC Google Nexus One. The results are same. So cheer up guys. It is not the problem with the handset. It is the make of HTC. Also there is no deviation in the signal from sim provider.

                            Battery Life:
Charged my mobile to 100% at 9 AM. Moderate use with calls for 1 hour and 10- 15 SMS, browsing for about half an hour in 3G, Exploring the features (As is it new, I was using it most of the times), Syncing and took 10 + photos. At 9 PM battery was 35 %. I would say it has a bit heavy usage. So Battery life is convincing. Pretty happy to get such a backup for a phone with lot of stuffs.

                            Pros:
                            Stunning Screen Quality
Very sensitive and responsive touch and capacitive keys
                            Processing speed is good
                            720 p video support
Battery Backup up to 1.5 days
                            Out of Box GingerBread
Integration with Google, Face book and twitter
Lot of animation features (Weather, Notification, etc...)

                            Cons:
Loudspeaker is only second to my previous Sony Ericsson
                            No dedicated Camera key
                            Camera Quality is average

Thanks to GSM arena for providing many useful info. Please revert back if you need any info about the phone.
