marshall, 04 Dec 2010what about the cable that attaches the display with keyboar... moreThe screen and keyboard need to be connected by a cable of some sort. When you open the keyboard part way, you can see the ribbon cable in between both halves. When the keyboard is fully opened or closed, the cable is fully hidden and protected.

stellazio, 03 Dec 2010Between this phone and the BB torch which is a better phone... moreI find that it is more of a personal preference when it comes to keyboards. I personally like more space in between keys. I have used both a BlackBerry Tour and the Desire Z. I have also used the N97 before as well. My colleague likes the BB keyboard as it is his preference and he got a Torch.

To find out which keyboard suits you best, I would suggest you go to a store (or perhaps borrow some from people you know) and try them both out. You will get a feel for both.

I think that regardless of which keyboard you use, you will eventually get used to it. Switching from the N97 to the Desire Z for me took a couple of weeks before I got comfortable as certain keys are in different places and the feel is slightly different. I personally do not text much on the BB, so I am less proficient in it.

Between this phone and the BB torch which is a better phone? I'm not one who's very keen on gimmicks like games apps etc. But more of just a call/sms person, but the most important part for me is the qwerty keypad, which of the 2 is nicer to press on?

Thanks. That's how I feel, but I'm just too polite to use such harsh words. :)

As for voting, I realised quickly that the voting results on this site is utterly useless. Just too many uninformed people who are simply trying to prop up the numbers of the devices of which they are fans.

If you really want useful information about a phone, you need to just ask specific questions in the forums.

[deleted post]i wudnt miss voting so much.

another site had votes of what is the best smartfone. The finalists wer N900 and Galaxy S. N900 won with two thirds of the votes, just because more ppl trust nokia than samsung. But... N900 isnt even a smartfone, its a internet tablet/computer. How could it win? because votes will always be ruled by whats most accepted opinion at the time.

I would do the same, out of two fones i didnt know anything abouti would vote for the brand i prefered. So my opinion in votes is worthless

Why those people in youtube are trying to destroy our happiness by showing such loose hinge videos.

my godnesss... its too ret@rded to see all d videos abt lose hinge. "IF WE DO LIKE THIS AND THAT THEN WE CAN POST IT ON YOUTUBE". I like to take those guys and hold them upside down and shake them a bit.

I can confirm that celfones and electronic devices in general does not respond well to hammers and shotguns, are we going to be concerned about durability for all cellfones that are not bullet proof? "yes iphone is good, but if i load my shotgun and do like this and that then you can see there is reason for concern"

The desire Z hinge issue is not an issue at all, just a bunch of ret@rds who want to show us that gravity is working or whatever. Desire Z stays closed when its closed and stays open when its open in NORMAL REALISTIC USAGE SCENARIOS, and its the most comfortable mechanism i have used.

Anonymous, 01 Dec 2010just wait for a month & see how loose it will be.i doubt it will be loose, when its so easy to operate then the strain on the mechanism is very low.

What i really like is that it will not move anywhere in its closed position, since it requires a slight upwards force to open in addition to the forward force. My N900 sometimes moves a little when holding it in weird positions, for example taking photos where i will also be in the picture, with one hand. Not to mention N96, its all over the place when taking one hand photos, very annoying (N900 is ok, but sometimes moves a little). Desire Z does not move at all, no matter how i hold it there will be a small inwards force that assures the display part stays with the rest of the fone.

one thing i need to fix is friendster.com, on the N900 i use Hide User Agent to access the full site instead of their terrible mobile site. How to fool websites to think the Desire Z is a PC?
