Anthony, 08 Apr 2010Is your wi-fi set to the default of “sleep when in standby”... moreMy Wifi is set to be awake in standby mode!

Yes, pretty impressive numbers with the extended battery for now.

I will keep you guys updated today when battery reach the red zone.

Stock battery is good for 9 hours (safe: with moderate usage), and you will start sweating for being in the red zone.

Plus, I did not have enough confidence putting the stock battery in the Wifi standby mode for testing.

So, so far the preliminary result of the 2400mAh battery is putting out some good result.

Ok, preliminary result of the ebay 2400mAh battery.

7am to 12pm. 75% battery left with light usage as follow:

3:30h of Wifi in standby mode
          1:30h in regular standby mode
          Total 5 hours.

20 minutes playing loud Trance music at 100% volume with Wifi connection.
Within the 20 minutes of playing the music, 10 minutes surfing the internet.

5 minutes playing video music. Just for testing.

          5 minutes browsing pictures.

Made 1 call for 1 minute.

For the rest of the day, I plan on leaving Wifi on in standby mode. I may leave it a rest in regular standby time for 1 hour to justify this test as a moderate use.

Woohoo. This fone is awesome with Slacker Radio playing Trance music while surfing the web & typing this message.

No lag. Stable, and still plenty of juice w/ all the tweaks. N connection unleashed.

            Forget about WP7.

Ok, I have just found out why the plastic cover of the extended battery isn't fitting well in the US HD2.

At first, I was having some problem pressing the volume keys. I have found that the opening in the plastic cover is a tad smaller than the stock one (by about 0.5mm).

Lucky it was a plastic cover. I have just trimmed it a little bit, and now it fit better. Volume buttons work now.

The fit of the extended cover now looks better with some modification, but it is still average with really thin gaps on the sides. Hence, it is not a perfect fit.

                Man! (or woman)
I cannot imagine how many mistakes I have made, and sorry about it (e.g. faith instead of fate, bottom vs button, can vs get, and etc...).

Sorry again, and do the adjustments as judged necessary. I am using my other PC because my other (partner/wife) is taking control of my main PC. My old wireless s*cks big time.

Mahayaya...#&%)_+#@... it is driving me crazy... mawaaahhh....

High Tech, 08 Apr 2010What type of casing will you need for it, due to extended b... moreWell. In my old WinMo phone (i.e. Omnia i900), I had an extended battery, but it did not have any case for it. There is still no case for it, and the phone is smaller than the HD2.

The HD2 will share the same faith if I plan to keep using the extended battery.

I have tried the US stock gel case with the extended battery, and of course I knew the answer to that before I had even tried it.

I just wanted to see if I can custom made a case for it. The answer is as clear as before!!!

Nah...Nope...uh...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!. Definitely no case with an extended battery.

High Tech, 08 Apr 2010I use my HD2 on wifi only... I don't have a data plan.. I r... moreYeah, I also use Wifi, but I also use a data plan when Wifi is not readily available.

For the most part, I got the HD2 for the US T-mobile 3G, the 1GHz, the screen size, and HTC of course.

Wifi is a necessity to cut cost on data plan provided by your phone service provider.

So imagine my reaction when a T-mobile service rep told me that an unlimited data plan was needed with a contract for this phone.

My eyeballs were in the 2 and 10 o'clock (switching back and forth constantly: like a CPU on the verge of freezing with overheat).

My response and solution was clear. $500 cash, and see you later.

All I have to say is T-mobile 3G is awesome (compared with Edge) in Chicago for the most part. If 3G connection fails, Edge catches up.

MS is going to release new products for Win and WM every two years and not every three years as before... MS says they don't want WM falling behind other players like before... MS wants to release Win and WM OS's at the same time.... Like WM7 should've been... Here's the link:

Yes, Coreplayer is one of the first thing to install in the HD2

The official site for download is coreplayer.com

The "un-official" site for download is a good Google search. Tip: GDI in video setting.

                                Uni-marketplace? There ain't such thing.
I would go for free stuff first, then pay for the extras.

                                Try for a start:

                                freewarepocketpc.net
                                freewareppc.com

                                pocketgear.com

                                Have fun happy testing.

ray, 08 Apr 2010i m an aspirant of HTC HD2...i checked it out and it seems ... moreI use my HD2 on wifi only... I don't have a data plan.. I really don't need one... I use Starbucks or Mcdonalds free wifi when I'm at work (lunch).. There are other free wifi places... I also use my wifi at home to surf... I don't surf much.. Now when I go out of town for vacation I will add a data plan for that...

Even without WM7 (which is a plain OS to me. WM6.5 is better) the HD2 will still be in demand... Also what can WM7 do that WM6.5 cannot???? I would rather have an OS that I can customize, than an OS that is locked... Don't be fooled by all the hype of WM7... WM7 is just a iphone wannabe.... From reading reports of WM8.. That's the OS that will be alot better... From reports, WM8 is built from the ground up... Everything in that OS is new.... MS is going to update WM every two years, just like the Win OS.. Win OS8 (rebuilt as well) will be out in 2011 or 2012... Along with WM8... They say that WM8 will be great (way better than WM7)...

(Also) With the extra thickness of the extended battery, you get a more secure grip/hold of the HD2.

Have you ever got the impression that a stock of the HD2 would just slip off your hand due to its thinness? Well, this feeling is gone.

Hey, it may no longer be the beautiful little princess that a girl may fancy for, but it (HD2 + extended battery) feels more secure when you use it.

The unit will not stand by itself on the side on the table. A kickstand is definitely needed. I am still wishing that the HTC version would be released soon.

                                      Still testing...

Alright, I got a non-OEM 2400 mAh extended battery yesterday.

First charge was around 10 hours.

                                        Battery cover is plastic.

The fit of the extended battery cover on the phone is at best average. There is a slight gap next to the volume bottom.

I was a bit disappointed at first by the cover compared to the rigid cover of the stock cover, but it feels cooler when you hold the phone.

The extended battery is about 2.5 times the size of the original battery in thickness!

Overall with the extended battery and its cover on the phone, the HD2 just look like...hhmm... any other smartphone with an extended battery. I guess it only makes sense to those that had extended batteries before. In short, it's little princess with a big fat stomach.

Batterywise, I am still testing it. I will keep you guys posted after 3 days of continuous testing with recharges of course.
