I don’t know if this is coincidental or not but just be careful.
After I changed over to the new 1.66 rom from HTC my 16gb SD became unreadable both by the phone and the PC about a hour after. I had to use the “Format SD Card” utility on the phone to get the card functional once again. (not even my PC could format the card)
So learn from my experience and backup your SD before you do the update & after the update, use the “Format SD Card” utility on the phone to format your card before you put any thing on it again..

NICK, 28 Jan 2010OK here is things I did with my new HTC HD2: 1) 4 hotfix... moreOne program U're missing is Spb Mobile Shell 3.5.3. I have that UI on my phone and I love it....With shell you get 10 UI desktop to customize the way you want. It comes with 5 professional desktop layouts and 5 lifestyle desktop layouts. I use my lifestyle layouts for games, social networks, movie and music playing, etc. Use professional layouts for busines use, doc, spreedsheets, powerpoint, email, texting, etc. I evan read about WM7 having several desktop UI to customize as you want. Looks like WM7 took a hint from Spb Mobile Shell...Give it a try.......Also you can find Spb skins to load ontop of Sbp. I'm using Espresso Theme for Spb Shell and it's great. Very easy to use and the widgets you can add are very nice...Give it a try??????????????????

Leak of WM High End Specs Req:
            -1GHz processor (HD2 has)
            -3.6 inch WVGA display (HD2 has 4.3)
-G-sensor and compass (HD2 has both)
            -8GB of onboard memory (HD2 DOESN'T have)
            -5MP camera (HD2 has)

As you can see the only thing missing from getting High End update (Media Edition WM7) is the onboard memory. I do believe the HD2 will get the WM7 update, but it will be the Business Edition (Strip down version). If you want the High End WM7 update you will have to wait until WM7 phones are released at the end of 2010, early 2011. The low end phones will get WM6.5 high end phones will get WM7 going forward. We will see two versions of WM7 (Bus. and Media). Which version of WM7 Do you want?????????

NICK is back with HTC HD2. Ya…I bought this phone a couple of days ago. Being an iphone user for 2yrs…..this is sth different experience for me. Here is what I found between HD2 & iphone 3gs. I'm not apple fan boy….if I were….i would not spend $750 for this damn phone.

IMHO iphone 3gs is still the king in touch-screen phone. Why?? Answer is simple…..iphone is damn fast (no matter hd2 has 1 ghz processor) & UI is simply great and not to mention apps……100000 apps …even half is crap…still lot. One thing I found out is that apps with same developer for iphone & winmob is totally different. Same apps in winmob looks damn ugly. …why they make so ugly apps for winmob??....may be racist or biased?

I was going through HTC sense and realized that how much htc tried their best to imitate iphone. Bravo HTC!!! I was LMAF……... iphone is benchmark for touch screen phone & that’s the reason every phone wanna be iphone killer……but in vain. I still consider iphone no 1 and hd2 no 2. It depends upon how you take & use phone. For me…….camera (I use my canon dslr for better pic) and multitasking is bullshi..t. ( for me multitasking ….is listening music and do other things samultaneously as I am an audiophile….which I can do in iphone0. I don’t need to run damn chat or other programs in background…………I do one at a time but I need music everywhere.)

So you guys must be wondering why I buy this phone??

                1) The main reason is its 4.3" screen. I love this big screen.
                2) Hoping to get upgraded to windows7. I'm pretty sure win mob 7 is gonna be game changer …just like pc version windows7.
                3) Last but not least……I just wanna take a break from iphone & try sth new. I'm an old win mob player. I know most of its tricks & tweaks.

Im now running the new Universal English rom from HTC 1.66.405.2.
Based on the rom number it looks like you don’t have to install any of the old hotfix files.
I can’t say if the sms problem some people had was fixed or not because I was not having that problem. Someone that was having the problem would have to try it and see.
The is not doc tab in this rom (for the people that wanted to know.)

                    “Liverpool”
If HTCpedia does not post 1.66.405.2 by 06-02-2010 then let me know. I helped you before and I’ll help you again.

                    “Mark (Re music playe”
HTC made the 2nd rom update (that’s the 3rd rom for this phone now) and you are still running the 1st O2 rom. Are you still going to be loyal to the old rom that is giving you hart bake, of are you going to be brave and make the change? :-)

My SMS worked from day one, no problem. My audio worked from day one, no problem. I have a three level home, and I can put the phone on the first level of my home and still can hear my music on the third level of my home, without ext speakers. I played my music all night long, no problem... The audio sounds even better with ear phones (I use Bose, sound GREAT). The only problem I had was with the pink issue (camera), but that was taken care of with the fix......So, Yes you made a good choice.........

Every phone is going to have some short comings, but as long as they can be fixed with ROM's or hotfixes, I'm cool with that....Really we're talking about a phone that was put out before its time. This phone was made for the future, which is WM7....I'll wait til WM7 is on it to really judge it. This phone wasn't made for WM6.5. Also with MS releasing WM6.6 in FEB, that should make the HD2 even better (hope that ROM has the Doc. Tab feature. Really would like that).....With WM7 on HD2 it will be complete.....................................

boetaru, 28 Jan 2010I've ordered this handset & will probally be getting de... moreAlso about bugs: I have read about a SMS bug, but I have never had any problems with sending a SMS. I am on Vodafone. I had the pink-camera issue, but with the updates you (almost) don't see it anymore. My phone used to freeze sometimes, but now it never happens anymore. So overall I can use my HD2 without any bugs that will ruin my experience. Also remember that the phone is very thin, so it will not be a pain to carry around in your pocket.

Btw, Android will soon be usable on the HD2. I think within a few months. Check XDAdevelopers for more info! (also a very good site to find tips/tweaks for your HD2)

boetaru, 28 Jan 2010I've ordered this handset & will probally be getting de... moreDon't worry, it is an amazing device. I have had it for over a month, and have had a few moments that I thought I made the wrong choice:

because of the Windows Mobile OS, it is just a bit old. But Windows Mobile 7 will 100% sure change that.

because of lack of a good official appstore. Apps can be found though on the internet. Also WM7 will solve this problem.

So yeah.. I said to myself: WTF are you crying about?! Look around you.. 80% of the people don't even have a phone that is good for browsing the web etc. And yesterday when I saw the iPad with its 1GHz processor I though ''I have that, in my smartphone, which I can put in my pocket! Take that Apple!'

It is important to understand that the HD2 is one of the best. Only problem is it is a big phone, which can make one handed usage harder. See the future my friend! (yes WM7) And just focus on the positive parts of the HD2 when you get it!
