MP phone addict, 26 Nov 20093. There is not perfect phone. You are right, there is n... moreI looked at the “marking place” from where I am in the world there is about 30 app under categories. Most are free some are paid. The ones that were of interest to me it already had web site that have better programs that do the same thing/more for free, that not on the market place.
eg. Most people know shazam right? Well that is there… full version free to try for 7 days then it gets restricted to limited usage and features. If you don’t pay to upgrade.
But off of the “market place” you can get “midomi” does the same thing as shazam and it even has a sing, hum, or whistle mode. If you are trying to get info or buy a song that is not playing any ware. And it links to “amazon” to buy the tracks.
They have tracking software on the “market place” for free but there are better ones off the market place for free also.
So in my opinion the “market place” has a long way to go before if will catch up to what you can get on the outside for wm.

My fren sold his HD2 on ebay and back to his old iphone 3gs. He just could not bear the slowness & lag of winmob. I can understand that being an iphone user.

He didn't have any pink camera issues but he did have problems with keyboard, browsing & playing music. Keyboard becomes unresponsive when he tries to send sms. Phone takes longer time or sometimes freezses when try to play musics. I told him to wait for xda cooked rom but he doesn't have patience to wait.
Accd to him, this 800dl baby does not even handle simple task properly ..forget about multitasking things.
Surprisingly, he sold his hd2 within 2 hrs on ebay.

Anthony, 26 Nov 2009Standard notes are under the outlook icon, and word mobile ... moreSo ChangeScreen will cause the other programs to auto-rotate? Excellent.

I was wondering if the screen alignment could be an issue but I was getting keys being “pressed” without actually touching the screen. E.g. “M” registering when my thumb was on it’s way to “U”.

Also at times I had “ghost touches” on the screen that exited an application and went back to the home screen. Similarly, sometimes rotating the device would exit the application and take it back to the home screen. Hmm, I suppose that it’s possible that the app simply crashed since I was using the SMS app to test the keyboard when these “ghost touches” happened and there was never a draft copy or open copy of the message I was writing afterwards.

I’ll give it another try when I have the chance.

        Thanks Anthony

Only the browser and the sence music, potos & video and the calculator auto rotate by default.
All other programs need a program like ChangeScreen to be installed before they too will auto-rotate (and you will get the landscape keyboard in them.)
It is more sensitive than the resistive screen of other wm phones as it is capacitive. As for the keyboard thing, I find that after I did a screen alignment in the wm settings the keyboard was very easy to use.’

              Hi,

I got to test this phone out for an hour in a Vodafone store on Monday and I have a few questions.

Is the standard Notes application on this phone? I couldn’t find it (I know OneNote Mobile is there).

Does anyone have a list of applications that don’t auto-rotate? OneNote didn’t and from what I’ve read I don’t think that Excel does either.

A number of people initially complained that the touchscreen on this phone was way to sensitive. When I tried the phone on Monday I found that for navigating around the screen, pinching and zooming, scrolling, etc the touchscreen was perfect but for typing the phone WAS far to sensitive making it pretty much useless since it would select letters that I hadn’t touched.

Has anyone else found this? If so was this with a vanilla device or with a carrier branded device?

Oh, I should add that before anyone says that it is because I’m not used to using touchscreen keyboards I was able to test a Touch Pro 2 side by side and I had no problems with the touchscreen keyboard on that phone. Also due to the large screen size I was able to use the touch screen keyboard on my Nokia N810 (poor as it is) as easily as the hardware keyboard with no practice (it was this that convinced me that the HD2 could be a viable option). Finally, while I don’t like the device, I can use the keyboard on the iPhone without having this issue.

Anonymous, 26 Nov 2009Well I read a few posts between you and NICK a while ago bu... moreNick is a ..... just lest leave it at that.
He rubes me the wrong way. Every time he comes on My IQ drops just so i can talk to him in a manner he can understand.
So the talks i have with him no one should take serous.
But that is not what i was taking about. I was asking if you did not also read the post where i also said if you didn’t already have this phone you could wait till the issue is sorted out by HTC.
And you are right; being the first to buy any phone will make you like a beta tester. So the people that can’t deal with that should never buy a phone as soon as it comes out. I wanted this phone right away because i was using the beta of its UI on the HD for a long time and was getting my work done but it was a bit slow. So i could not help myself but to get it as soon as it came out for the speed improvement and the bigger screen. Also selling my HD before the HD2 hit the shelves meant i would have gotten a better price for it rather than waiting on next year to sell it. Used the money from that to help buy this.

Anthony, 26 Nov 2009 1. The sound without the headphones is loud but is not in... more3. There is not perfect phone.

You are right, there is not. But there is this:

BlackBerry (bold) is TO business, bad camera, no touchscreen, but good phone.

iPhone is TO multimedia, BAD BATTERY LIFE (which alone is a deal breaker for me), and that OS is just getting boring already.

I am looking for a phone with the following:

                    -Good browser
                    -Good battery life
-Good Application store (no not 100k apps, but at least 10 or 20 I can really use)
                    -Good looking UI
-Decent Camera (better than the BB's)
-Big touchscreen (yes, I thought it doesn't matter, but it does. I don't need hardware keyboards anymore)
-I can live with some bugs, but the OS needs to be good overall

So it seems the HD2 has all of those things, the only thing I am not sure about is Marketplace. How many apps total? I heard a LOT of them are not free. I don't game very often, but I would like to play a game once in a while.. Are there any? With the hardware it should make an excellent gaming device.

And yes I know about the pink issue, good luck to all of you having that problem!

Also a lot of the posts seemed to be answering very, very basic questions that I would have expected people to answer for themselves via Google (and most didn't really relate explicitly to this device) which means that there is a very high signal to noise ratio (for me) here. Useful information just gets lost in the noise.

I do have some questions about the device so perhaps I'll post them separately.

I didn’t’ write to HTC because I don’t have the phone and I wasn’t about to buy it yet. The funny thing is that having used DSLRs for many years I know not to buy as soon new hardware comes out because early units often have faults that get fixed later as production goes on. We refer to early adopters as beta testers as a matter of course. They pay the highest price and get the worst units.

Having said that though, due to the extremely short lifecycle of mobile phones these days I was hoping to get one (if I get one) after it had been on the market in the UK for 6-8 weeks and once it was available pretty much everywhere with no backorders.

That should be the end of all hardware/software confusion.
Also people should check what the patch does before they get it installed on their phones. Particularly people who doesnt have the problem.

There is something that HTC has done with its camera for the first time, integrate camera flash.
I'm sure the flash is interferring with the camera causing problems.
Now the people who have bought this device should just pray that HTC doesn't shut the flash feature with their patch/hot fix.
