Right now there are 9 original language roms for the HD2 there.
But how will you get it on the phone without the HSPL? You have to get a HSPL that was made for this phone.

Anonymous, 18 Nov 2009 First of all, "...i ment pixels per inch of screen..." ... moreThanks for the Per (square) inch correction.
I don’t disagree with you that a smaller screen with the same WVGA will look better.
I would even go as far as to say if this phone had a HD 720 (1280x720) resolution that would have been even better.
But the point I was trying to make to you was... the reason no one talked about the WVGA res before you came along is..... all around the world many people are watching a 640x480 TV broadcast on a 21”, 27”,32”,42” even 52” TV and they don’t even complain about how that looks, so those same people will not complain about 800X480 on a 4.3” screen.
So when you think about it like that. HD 720 would be nice. But WVGA on a 4.3” screen is nothing to complain about.
I don’t know if you are complaining about the screen size or just the res but ... One of the big reasons I sold my HD to get the HD2 was the bigger screen. The people that say it must look odd to put this phone to your head when in a call never heard about Bluetooth headsets.

                        WinMo is suckest OS.
                        Microsoft should not make WinMobile.
Wish HTC stop using Microsoft products.
Look at Apple iPhone, take only a year to get to top of smartphone maker. Talk about 1st iPhone.
Nice HTC HD2, will buy if not using Winmobile OS.
After using iPhone 3G and S, NO phone can beat iPhone.

Oh, and lastly, the reason why this is not doing so well in HD playback and coreplayer benchmarks compared to the acer will be the QSD drivers for video acceleration.
XDA developers have custom drivers that boosts MSM72xx based device performance and are working on QSD**** ones too.

I believe there is a licensing issue or qualcomm are just lazy.

The drivers are keeping HD2 back...similar to menlow and the GMA500 core.

felix thomas, 18 Nov 2009this model & size ,expecialy this is windows 6.5 really eve... moreI purchased the HD2, because I like the phone. I agree with you, the HD2 should have front camera, photo and video editing, and beter audio.....I also have the Omnia 2 and it has front camera, photo and video editing, DLNA, TV out, record from FM radio, and better audio. The battery usage is GREAT. I use both phones. I mainly use the Omnia 2 for music and watching moves on my big sreen TV or while traveling. The picture is AMAZING from the Omnia 2 to the TV.....

Don't get me wrong I love the HD2 too. Both phones to me are the best out RIGHT now..........

Just a note that iphone has 320x480, the satio and the blackberry storm as well as many LG devices with 3" to 3.5" screens will have a much lower PPI.
HD2 is a step up from this.
But sure, on 3" density of pixels is higher, and dot pitch smaller than on 4.3"...but the bigger screen actually lets you read something at that res for a while.

3" might look spiffy at 800x480....but it will give you more of a headache than 4.3"...and in any case 4.3" at 800x480 is still leading size and res and PPI.

biggest problem is not PPI but more colour depth for 4.3".

                                    First of all,
"...i ment pixels per inch of screen..."

Its per square inch, cause screens are 2 dimensional.

                                    Secondly,
As far as displays are concerned there is something in pixel 'count' that is called as native resolution.
OS es have 'display' resolution SUPPORT while displays have 'native' resolution.
Display resolutions can be changed while native resolution are manufactured into a display.

WinMo supports four 'display' resolution types only namely : QVGA, WQVGA, VGA and WVGA.

Windows desktop OSes (7, vista, xp etc.) supports various 'display' resolution types being as low as VGA as can be seen in another HTC device 'Shift' running Vista.

Now coming to HD2, the native resolution built into the display is WVGA for a 4.3" display making singular pixels larger in size as compared to display of phones like Xperia X1 or LG Arena.
You have a pixel count of 480 horizontally and 800 pixels vertically, i.e. 38400 pixels in all.

Larger singular pixels means this display (in terms of image quality) can be compared to 2.8" QVGA displays.

A more pixel dense screen meaning more pixels per square inch meaning smaller singular pixels makes viewing pics, videos, icons, animations, texts etc look finer.
