ProjectCM3, 07 Nov 2009Thanks for the explanation Anthony...yet more questions tho... more
    1. How do I know what apps/programs are compatible with the HD2?
The foul proof way is just to install it and see if it works. If it does yahaaa, if it does not then just uninstall it. :-)
Now that, that is out of the way, here are some things you should know.
    1. Most of the programs you would want to install will not be made by a phone manufacture so don’t expect it to be for just one phone only.

    2. Two main things you look at are what windows mobile OS version it was made for and what hardware you need for it to work.

If it was made for wm6.5 it will not work on 6.1 or earlier. But if it was made for an earlier version of wm there is a very good chance it will work in wm6.5
Then you need to look at hardware needs… eg.
If the program needs a front camera it will not work because this phone does not have a front camera
Or if it’s an old game that was not made to use touch screen but a D-pad instead, it will not work because this phone has no D-pad.
If the program needs a next program to be on the phone or a newer driver to be installed, it will not work till you install the program it needs or the newer driver it needs. If the program was not made for a WVGA screen but for a VGA screen, it will work but look really small and only fill about a quarter of the WVGA screen.
And remember if a new feature comes out or you want an old feature it does not have. Once the phone has the needed hardware it’s just a matter of finding the drivers and/or the software. XDA is always a good place to start.

    3. You can download the program on your PC or the Phone.
If it is a .cab file you have to copy it to the phone and double click it there.
If it is a zip file you have to unzip it on the phone or the PC then put it on the phone and double click it to install.
If it is an .msi file you have to install it on your PC and let active sync put it on your phone.
If it’s a .jar file you have to use the java installer on the phone to install it

This. Handset. Looks. Amazing. I can't wait for a similar spec handset from HTC running Android. My Hero is great, but too slow!

If you haven't ordered your HD2, now would be a good time to do so. It seems the price is going up. Got mines for $750.00 + shipping. Seems the phone price is starting in the $800's now..... A few sights still sell in the $750 to $799 range (only a few). Most are selling around $825 on up...... If this version is selling at this price, I wonder what the US version will sell for????????

                              Hi All,

Of all the reviews I’ve seen not one mentions if this phone can connect and share file via Bluetooth or justconnect to headsets etc. For me it was definite downfall of iPhone.

                              Anyone know? Thanks.

Anthony, 07 Nov 2009follow up... And other difference between a rom and a skin... moreThanks for the explanation Anthony...yet more questions though :)

                                1. How do I know what apps/programs are compatible with the HD2, because from what I've gathered from you and others is that it doesn't necesarily have to say "for the HD2" in order for it to be able to run on the HD2...so in other words, it doesn't have to be specifically made for the HD2, unless its a rom, then it has to specify the HD2. The question is, what do we look at, or what do we take into consideration when looking for apps/programs for the HD2 and go, "oh, yes, this will work just fine on the HD2" ???

                                2. I've checked out lots of sites with apps, games, programs...but how do you go about getting these things in the first place? Do you,

                                A. Download them on your computer, then load them to the HD2? If yes/possible, what are the steps?

                                B. Are you able to just visit the website with the HD2, find the app/game/program that you want, and then try to download it directly to the HD2? If yes/possible, what are the steps?

Basically, I've heard of people downloading things on their computers, and then not be able to put them on their phones, something to do with ZIP files, etc...

I trust you as an expert, and sorry for all the massive amounts of questions! :) Thanks in advance.

Is there an application that is similar to remote for the iphone? I would like this functionality for either iTunes or windows media player.

This phone is almost as powerful as my Pc 2 years ago, 448MB is a lot of RAM of a phone, its even faster than samsung jet, 1Ghz CPU is impressive. This phone is a super phone, Well done Htc.

That is what I like about Windows Mobile it does not matter what phone you have. If you see software on a new phone you like you probably could find it for download to use on your phone as well. All you really need is a phone with good hardware and that what makes the HD2 great... its hardware.
