ns, 17 Aug 2011Hi Anthony, U always prefer win6.5(good for office and s... moredon't get me wrong, i don't think Android is crap.....
For streaming online on my HD2 i use Android.
But this is a smartphone and there are other things i want to do. Not just stream video.

Now for the rest of your list....
For a good free dictionary i use TildeTech dictionary (no internet access needed)
I use outlook task to manage, expense (because it can sync with outlook on PC)
But there are other expense managers on Omarket for free. task manager is built into the OS but i like MMTask manager more, don't use data counter because i have Black Berry unlimited dataplan on my SIM, but there are data counters on Omarket as well.
A great media player is Coreplayer. It is the VLC player of windows mobile. The next in line is the TCPMP player, there is MS word for note that PC compatible. There is also Outlook notes that can open in Outlook on the pc. bty outlook notes can sketch, type & audio record all in one file.

Now for MY reasons why i don't use a NAND Android ROM on my HD2 in no particular order.

1 Garmin Mobile XT can't find a program that can read Garmin maps in Android and Garmin is the only turn by turn nav maps there are for my country.
2 i can sort my contacts by name (in any order) by company or by company and name in any order.
2a. more fields to save info in a contact(including notes)
3 phone tracking software that can be cooked into the ROM.
        4. Remote for PC over WiFi. (love it as a PC is the center of my entertainment system)
        5. Task and calendar appointments that can sync with outlook on PC.
        6. Compatibility with a dual sim card holder.
        7. Navigation keys on the on-screen keyboard as the HD2 dose not have a track ball/pad.

Note: this is not all the programs i use but they are the things that keep me from switching my HD2 to Android and never looking back.

        P.S. Take a look at www.freewarepocketpc.net

Finally,I'm back in winmo. This is my view on wp7 on the HD2. I flashed "mango" beta version by DFT modified by elfinlazz. Tile presentations n the start roll out brings in a new experience....kind of remove the icon menu style presentation that we've so gotten used to. Missing call timer is unacceptable, the "os" is locked down to the core, funny. in WP7 you'll realise how important 'OS' freedom is.Overall, lot of work need to be done but hey,it offers the break we need from the all to familiar menu styles. Will definitely flash back to "Mango" final version but won't keep it permanent. Anthony, how's the "Gingerbread" going?

hero bico, 15 Aug 2011Any1 can tel me?why we need to update Rom?if I run android ... moreLet me break it down for you.
The OS has to be able to talk to the hardware in the phone, or things just will not work or it will not work correctly.

You phone came with a ROM that has the windows OS and drivers for Windows to communicate with your hardware.

There is NO official Android ROM with Drivers for the HD2 hardware.

Programmers that have ported Android from other phones to the HD2 have found ways to get it to work with particular windows driver versions.

You must have that driver version on your phone if you want it to work/work correctly.
This is done by updating your radio version to the version the programmer requested.

It is much easier to flash a ROM that has radio version you need. Than to find the radio version as a stand-alone to install.

                    Hope you understand now.

Before you ask WHY do I need HSPL to install a NAND Android ROM? Let me break that down as well.

SPL is built into every ROM that comes with a HD2

1 of its major purpose is to prevent you from installing an incorrect ROM on your phone which can make it into an expensive paper weight.

Android was not made for the HD2 and would be considered an incorrect ROM. so the SPL would not allow it to be installed

The work around to bypass this is to install HSPL which was created by programmers to replace your SPL.

I have got this phone and it is a beauty. My HD2 was upgraded to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). I would strongly reccomend this phone to anyone thinking of buying it. You wont regret it. I bought this phone with android 2.3 installed so i dont know how windows operating system is on this phone. Previously i had a windows phone which i found rubbish and got bored of it within a week.

Anthony, 13 Aug 2011you just had a bad unit.... both my wife and i have HD2's ... moreI agree with you (the HD2 is a bit long on the tooth)... It's still a great phone to have (haven't seen any new released phones that much better than the HD2)... If you look at the new released phone they really have just more speed (dual core)... Some new phones have a nice screen, but the HD2 screen is not bad at all... My movies look just like DVD quality on the phone... I think you will see some sweet phone when Android Ice Cream Sandwhich is released around October or November.... That will be the time to buy... I'm hoping that the developers will be able to port Ice Cream to the HD2?????

I just bought a Toshiba Thrive 32GB Tablet and LOVE it... It has everything you want in a Tab and more... Just ordered a 128GB SDXC (new SD Card standard, can go upto 2TB cards) for my thrive (will have a total of 160GB of storage)... Movies LOOK GREAT on the Thrive...... They look even better when you connect the Thrive to an 1080P HDTV (with the included full size HDMI slot on the Thrive... None of that mini HDMI STUFF)....

Been reading so called specs on the Google Nexus Prime, which will come with Android 4.0 (Ice cream sandwhich)... The specs call for a monster screen (no size mentioned. Assume it will be 4.5+), Super HD 720P screen, capable of 1080p video/playback, 1.5 dual core speeds, LTE 4G, 1GB on board storage, etc. IF TRUE this will be a great phone coming... Said will be out around Thanksgiving time frame... Google want to release around the same time as new iphone... This will trump the iphone no question.............
