Everybody knows that a provider branded phone always has a crippled ROM, in comparison to its counterpart that has a factory unlocked ROM.

is there any wonder why the desire can't handel the Froyo upgrade.

'm currently a Nokia N8 user but I almost ended up getting a HTC Desire. I'm glad I didn't now as my friend who has one tells me that when he is connected to his WiFi network he can't send a MMS.
Also I found this on the Virgin Mobile Forums.

        " HTC Desire

95% of our customers should now be on the 2.2 update, we're working with HTC on upgrade path for the rest currently.

We've also recieved reports of the following issues from HTC Desire users on 2.2:

        Email randomly deleting
        Email service has stopped working
        Applications crashing
        Phones rebooting randomly
        Phone screen stops responding

However we've found that a simple factory reset will cure these problems 90% of the time. Please remember to back up all your data before a factory reset as this will restore the phone to when you first recieved it deleting any downloaded applications, text, photos etc "

What a sad state of affairs when a firmware update causes more problems than it solves.

I've also noticed a fair amount of lag on my friends Desire so it's not the mighty phone most people make it out to be.

I'd welcome any feedback on the above comments as long as it's not flame-baiting and is sensible.

        Thanks.

        Ray

lovis, 30 Dec 2010hello i want to helb me.. i want to buy new phone and i don... moreYou can’t put those 2 together for a (which to buy) comparison, because one is GSM sim the other is CDMA. What wireless service dose your phone provider give, will end up deciding what you have to get between those 2.
If you are a GSM sim user you should decide between the Desire HD and HD7 or even HD2

What ever your answer is it dose not change the fact that this is a WP7 forum.
And we all know according to Microsoft new rules, every one going to get the same phone.
Go complain about HTC Android phones in a Android Forum.

As i said the best HTC handsets are only issued in US format not UK GSM!As a consumer spending my hard earned money, should i not have the right of choice from the whole range? if i wanted to be insulted i would have bought an iphone 4. HTC is a good company but what they are offering the UK is a joke.

How can you say any HTC UK phone can match up to this. If your only point is that the Evo 4 (and this is not the only one) was not made with the UK in mind or any of the high end HTC which all are only issued in a US format then that was my point in the first place! There is a "compare" section on this page why dont you put the Desire an the Evo 4 side by side, in fact any UK HTC an see how much is missing an which comes out on top for yourself before you open your mouth.

I am a HTC UK user but to be honest i will never buy HTC again. I am disgusted in the manner they treat UK users compared to USA user. The UK handsets are poor at best a joke at worst. Just look at the HTC Evo4 to name one, there are many more like this: HTMI output, high spec cameras e.c.t, now look what they have given us. They could at least have made these phone useable UK at least we would have the choice to import one. HTC u.s.a great, HTC U.K what a joke!
