The usability, performance and battery life can be improved by using a good radio and rom combination.
For heavy users the official HTC extended battery (BP E270 1340mAh) is worth having although it does change the size of the phone.
Currently I am using a combination of HardSpl 1.24, Radio 1.10.25.25 and Shaks.p V3.20 rom which work well together.
If your phone is CID locked you will have to go through quite a few steps, I recommend lots of reading at xda forums first.

and yeah i also wanted to know wat all video formats does htc diamond support? i tried playin .avi file, but it dint play it. is there any way i can play other video files dn 3gp?

i think your phone have defect. I don't think there is any phone that is 100% defect proof.
I've been using this phone for a week here is wat i think so far....
battery life average (need to charge daily) like most of the smartphone if you use most of its features. But if just make a call it should give you at least 2 days.
Internet. good with wifi and 3g.
touch tech. NOT the best for the first timer. some times too sensetive. you need a lot time to get used to it. for the first few days you really get frustated. I prefer big Icons and big menus so you don't have to take out stylus most of the time. I believe there are third party software for that.
SPEED. well its window mobile, I already new what everyone was guessing.
file tranfer Sych: fast
size: very sexy, light, not bulky at all compare to other similar device
camera. not bad in good light condition.
Conclusion: I have some frens complaing about this phone a lot. I almost didn't buy becoz of their bad review. Well there problem was they didn't now how to use WM. like opening to many program and not knowing how to close them, making phone to response slow and even get hanged.If you are not into WM this phone is defenately not for you. But if you are looking for WM phone I this is one the best. If you wait until Diamond2 then this phone should be good bargain price.

You can try this.. I experience my phone when there is incoming call, and I not pick up and let it ring till it cut off... the phone is hot..if you are on the phone more than 5mins, the hot can burn your ears

After weeks of looking at loads of phones I decided to buy the Touch Diamond on contract. I wish I had a time machine because it is nothing but INFURIATING!. Ok why.
The phone runs on Windows mobile which has to be one of the most out of date and annoying pieces of software I have ever used. The menu structure and layout is abysmal. Some menus take you back one step at a time while others take you all the way out! GRRRR.
The Touchflow looks good, however, you soon realise its just like a dodgy wallpapering job over Windows. If you recieve a message more than a standard text you can't read it all in Touchflow. You have to go into Windows mobile and (when you eventually find it) the font is tiny!
There is no 'wraparound' menus either...why o why? Its all one way then back all the way again.
Making calls is bizarre too. If you use it in the dark you will see the phone switches the send/end buttons illumination OFF! As soon as your call is answered the main screen also switches off making keypad inputs impossible!
You cannot change these settings either.
If you actually are able to answer a call you are doing well as the software takes so long to 'think' while it receives a call before it actually rings.
The volume is far too low as well as the speaker distorting when its at max (which isn't very max!)
These are just a few of the many, many things that makes me want to smash it with vigor.
Pros- It is a very well made, strong and small phone.
Cons- As soon as its switched on - SCREAM.
I fell for the marketing and 'seeded' reviews.
If you like Windows Mobile go for it, if you haven't used it before.. don't touch it with a barge pole attached to a barge pole it will drive you nuts!

The phone promises much, but performance is very, very disappointing. The Touch screen interface could be described as slow, but that is optimistic. I regularly miss calls because of the slow response on the touch screen. The other main problem is "freezing". The phone, especially when accessing sms functions, freezes and prevents further input without a power reset...very annoying. Users looking for a fast phone/texting functions should NOT consider this phone.
Having been a long time consumer of motorola and nokia phones, and HP PDAs, I was can say with some degree of experience that HTC have alot of work ahead of them if this model is representative of their product performance.

My HTC diamond become hot whenever I surf the internet but not during normal used such music, call or other. Why??? Anybody experience the same???

but we dunt ... morehttp://mahmood1.com/htc_touch_...spx.....just go to this site to download gps software and i think u live in delhi so just visit gaffar market and download mapking r10 it is gps software and will just cost you 300 to 400 rs..for this and u can navigate full city after that...and u can also download gps software from net too.....tomtom 7 and with maps just try to search on google...

hey people if u are having hanging problem and all just update yor phone to version 1.93 its really worth it,as it removes the problems and make phn really fast,and as per the battery is concerned just !(1) switch off the beam
(2) go to setting,advanced network,disable hsdpa/hsupa as it is big battery sucker..
(3) go to phn setting,go to band,choose yor network type to gsm.....
(4) download g light software for yor phn it will control screen light according to the light sensors its really good.....and trust me yor battery will stay longer and much better than before.....atleast 1 and half day with good usage....like it used to get over in just 1 day...with theses recommendation yor standby of phn will also improve.....trsut me tey these things....it will help u a lot.....me also a user of this phn really found it better through these setting....and just post yor reply if u find it good...thanku
