hij, 04 Jun 2009firmware update or os update both gives same thing , better... moreha! you could never have too much ram. you will see when you try to open a 500 page pdf or run a game like need for speed. or try to lunch a .CAD file.
and being able to change your os is not the same.
let me explain. the HD came with windows mobile 6.1 dexter is now running the new windows mobile 6.5 on his HD. that's not fixing a bug that's like going from windows 98 to windows xp. as for changing the interface, I'm now running the diamond2 interface on my HD. and that is just one of the interfaces there is for a windows mobile phone.

                              Hi guys,

I'm highly interested in HTC Touch HD & really impressed with it specs.

But as a newbee at Winmo & HTC I need some answers...

I'll sure use all the multimedia specs (AV) in addition to the bussiness but can I use this babe as a databank ?

What I mean is; storing all the private data like bank accounts, eBank passwords, addresses, phone numbers & other stuff not to be reached easily by "searching" fingers & eyes ?

Does this device have a "secret" portion like the good old databanks, digital diaries ?
Keeping the "searching" fingers/eyes away ?

And when I decide to enter my private data, can I unlock the "secret" or private portion with a password ?

Or are there any programs emulating the databank privacy ?

                              Can this be done ?

Thnaks for all the answers in advance :))

Rosalind, 03 Jun 2009Well, I've managed to sort out the contacts on the THD, so ... morethe sorting of the names is easy.
                                1. pick the contact on the phone.
                                2. hit edit
                                3. find "file as" and from there pick how you want it to be filed in the contacts..... the down side is you have to do it for each contact and you have 500 good lock.

Well, I've managed to sort out the contacts on the THD, so I thought I'd contribute back, in case others have the same problem in future.

You can use the PC Suite software that the mobile phone comes with, have that synchronizing with the PC, and it'll keep a copy of all your contacts in Windows Contacts (but all in separate .contact files).

                                  1. Go to Windows Mail, EXPORT addresses (even if you've never used Windows Mail, and the addresses are empty) into a CVS file - it will look up Windows Contacts to get the information.

                                  2. Save the CVS file in a location you choose. Then go to MS Outlook, and IMPORT it into Outlook. All your contacts will transferred over.

                                  3. Sync Outlook & the HTC, and all your contacts will be transferred onto the HTC.

At the moment, there doesn't seem to any short cut to transfer addresses from Windows Mail into Outlook (Outlook cannot read .contact files) so that extra step is needed.

Sounds simple enough, but took me quite a while to figure out, coz Vcards don't work here - you end up with hundreds of Vcards, one for each contact, and in the end.. you'll have to manually get each Vcard into Outlook (500 contacts can be a chore). Getting it saved into a CVS file is better, since it'll compile everything together.

Now, I just need to figure out how to get THD to read the names in the order I want: FIRST NAME, Last Name. It is reading Last Name, First Name... so my contacts ordered is a little screwed up at the moment. Any suggestions?

Dexter Morgan, 03 Jun 2009Did you disable the bluetooth passkey in bluetooth settings... moreYep, and in any case, the passkey entered were identical so they match. The problem is... my C902 keeps coming up with the message that THD has rejected the data. And I've enabled receiving files on THD, so I'm not sure why it's been rejected.

Now I'm trying to see how I can transfer my contacts from Sony Ericsson to Outlook, but the files saved from the PC suite is in dbk format, and Outlook doesn't accept that.

It's past 5am, and I think I need to get some shuteye. Tomorrow (today) will be another battle. ;)
