Don't expect to much, this phone has only good in screen and UI like iPhone. Other aspect still can't beat Omnia.
Samsung now developing symbian s60 touchscreen, android smartphone and second generation of the Omnia. Samsung will be release soon like INNOV8.
I think Samsung can beat this phone easily.

can compete with Omnia, but it is too large.
The ideal phone for me is:
- width 55mm or less
- display size can be 3.4"
- good camera flash
- buttons can be from the phone's another side

The HTC touch HD's UI looks amazing. It's responsive and doesn't seem to lag whatsoever. The screen is also bigger than the iphone's and doesn't compromise on dimension or sexiness factor either. As far as I'm concerned it dominates the iphone. If it could be released for a decent price under contract, the iphone will be completely annihilated.

It's cool that it's completely open, but being so you won't be able to avoid all of the crappy apps that are out there. I'm almost certain that android will have to be out for a while to catch iPhone OS, or even Symbian and Windows Mobile for that matter.
My point is that you shouldn't hype any device/OS. I'm pretty sure Android will disappoint lots of people, just like every other phone and OS. I also believe that only people who know anything about tech will be the only one to even touch Android, so they've got to do something innovative. I honestly don't believe that being "open" will get android very far. They'll need very capable devices push it's platform, and with only one handset ready to go, Google's got a lot of work ahead of them.

Today I am already using HTC 3450 and also thought looking for a PDA with bigger screen like 3.8 with higher battery like 3000mah at least so I my opinion is this consider to its specification wtih a bigger screen dispaly battery lifetime is really really poor.

The iPhone-killer is not a particular phone. It is a particular OS and its name is Android. All the manufacturers like HTC, Samsung, LG, etc can outdo the iPhone when it comes to hardware and features. What those other manufacturers lacked was the competence to make their own OS like Apple did. Now they have that thanks to Google. Give Android about 1-2 years when the Android Market grows and the sales increase. More developer support means more cool apps. Android Market will kill Apple's App Store. Screw iTunes. It will surpass the iPhone jailbreak community. The potential is endless on Android. HTC needs to wakeup and use that OS. Nobody cares about WinMo anymore.

Man, I wished the HTC Dream looked like this. I would immediately jump to get an Android phone even if I have to sign a contract. Touch HD + Android = bliss. The key in the smartphone is establishing a mecca for apps distribution. My money is on the Android Market over the lame Big Brother App Store and all their lame restriction. Android is going to be a dev commnunity wet dream. MORE FREE STUFF, MORE DIVERSITY IN APPS, MORE DIVERSE PRICES, MORE CARRIERS, AND NO MORE APPLE TELLING YOU WANT YOU SHOULD WANT!

If it come with window mobile 7, then its definitely a i phone killer....will definitely get this phone.....i'm sure htc will allow rom upgrade for Window Mobole 7 when it is available next year.

I'd like to advise HTC respectfully to introduce a multimedia powerhouse HTC device in the near future that include for example 32GB storage memory, 3000 mAh battery life, High res. touch 3D screen with several video-audio players, TV In-Out for watching & recording, 6 megapixel cam. and other latest spec. & features. I can for sure say that there'll be something like that because Sony-Ericsson already did by introducing it's mobile W1. Thanks a lot to HTC.

This phone is cool, not the best but one i had consider buying!! People complaining about FLASH? Are u kidding me? Because of that it makes it a bad mobile? Please thats should be least of your worries considering how much features this thing is loaded with! This in my OPINION is mostly for the business world, u want a toy with camera & flash then get a Iphone or Nokia

billkgr, 18 Sep 2008How can it be the best phone so far? It CANNOT write 640*48... morei can see your argument. having VGA video on my N95 is simply fantastic. it does support SDHC cards though in fairness.
the flash is a bit of a bummer. yeah it misses stuff but it also makes it up with its 3.8 WVGA screen (800x480!!!) and 3D graphics acceleration and windows mobile though.
