I wished people would learn how to use WM devices before making comparisons. You can adjust pressure sensitivity with a reg edit..make it as sensitive as you like!Try using Netfront 3.5 or Iris 1.14 for Web browsing....ciao

Got the TyTN II in India for Rs 29000 on September 1, 2008. For me, this is a quantum leap in the Windows Mobile Segment, because I used an o2 xda mini before this which had Windows Mobile 2003, and the TyTN II had Windows 6.1 pre-installed, so I expected it to be a different experience altogether, but I must add that Windows has put in significantly more features without changing the UI and user-experience much...
First of all, the main reason I bought this phone was the retractable keyboard and tilting screen... A lot of appeal, and I must add that the keyboard is extremely usable too, one of the best PDA keyboards that I've come accross... I used to be a phonecall-person, but since I've got this gizmo, I've turned into an SMS-person...
Now, simultaneously with this phone, my dad also got an iPhone, and I'll be comparing the features with the iPhone so that you guys get a better perspective as to where this phone really stands in the market...
Firstly, the screen. The iPhone has a larger screen and is definitely less bulky. Also, the quality and depth of colour that you get on the iPhone screen is definitely superior to this. So, no comparison on that aspect, the iPhone wins hands-down.
Secondly, the touch-screen display and its sensitivity. Here, the race is pretty even, because even though the iPhone has a touch-screen (Touch as in real finger touch), sometimes it might be difficult to use, especially while typing because the keys on the iPhone's keyboard are not necessarily very large... And, the TyTN II here has a distinct advantage, because it has HTC's TouchFLO technology enabled... You can also use a stylus to interact with the TyTN in addition to touching the screen (The iPhone is restricted to only touch and the stylus does not work).
But, all said and done, the sensitivity of the iPhone's screen is atleast twice of what pressure-sensitivity is available with the TyTN II...
But, this is where the advantages of the iPhone really end, its got nothing much to boast about except really jazzy graphics, a very responsive touch-screen and simple UI.
Now, if functionality is what you're looking for, then the TyTN II is the only choice here... because the iPhone, despite being very user-friendly and stylish does lack some basic features (which have been highly reported) and also does not support some email protocols (for example, I cannot sync with a Hotmail account for lack of protocol support).
Now, the TyTN II does not have any such drawback and I can sync with any account out there because it seems to support everything out there...
Now, setting up GPS and other services and getting them to run on the TyTN II was a breeze... so no reason to complain about that...
Apart from that, one significant lack that I found the iPhone was that I couldn't open any of the Microsoft Office documents because there didn't seem to be any support for them, and I couldn't find any software that could help me either. So, since the TyTN II, like all other Windows Phones comes built in with Pocket Office, I dont have any problems. It seems to be able to open all documents, including ones formatted on Office 2007. So, no complaints about that...
Also, unlike earlier phones, this comes with a built in PDF viewer and ZIP file handler (with options for extra free RAR file handlers as well). So, any form of compressed archive and file-type can be handled by it.
Expandability can be achieved by using Micro SD cards (hot-swappable of course) and I've tested my phone using an 8GB card and it seems to support it. Unofficial sources on the Internet also seem to have tried 16GB cards and they claim it to be working fine. So, there is no distinctive or significant space advantage that can be attributed to an iPhone.
Also, almost any video can be played by the TyTN II including DivX encoded AVI videos (if there is trouble, just download the codec for free from the official website). But, these seem to be causing trouble on the iPhone as far as I have read, because the iPhone doesn't seem to be supporting the codec yet.
And, another area of comparison can be the Internet Usage experience. Here, the iPhone beats the TyTN II by a mile, mainly because of the Safari browser that the iPhone has in it. Internet surfing is a breeze and the experience is just like a real PC, especially with the effortless zooming and focussing features and rich anti-aliasing of the fonts. Sorry, but the TyTN II just does not come even close to it...
The camera on the TyTN II is about 3 megapixels while on the iPhone its 2 megapixels... so, it's a no-contest really and the pictures in the TyTN II are significantly better. The auto-focus works like a charm, but moving pics can still be a problem like most Windows Based phones.
Finally, one major issue I found with the TyTN II was that graphics response can be very slow. This has been ascertained to be the lack-of drivers for a hardware part installed on the system-board of the TyTN II. Due to the lack of these drivers, the graphics handling sub-system is non-functional and all graphics handling is transferred to the main 400MHz processor, and this can cause it to behave very slowly sometimes.
But, if display response time is not an issue for you, this phone is definitely a very good one to use.
And, as I'm more of a functionality-person than a style-person, I'm very happy with the performance of the TyTN II while my dad is happy with his iPhone. I guess it's a case of "horse for courses"...

Hi, my new TyTNII shuts down without warning (usually when battery is around 60%). After that it can only be switched back on either by removing and re-attaching the battery or by pressing the reset hole. Any ideas what could be the reason?

Thanks for the insight, as I am very curious as to how the TyTN II would handle BB connect.
Actually I am consdering to buy the TyTN II or a BB Curve 8310 all together. Even though the TyTN II obviously has a lot more features than then Curve, the Curve (I presume) would handle the main BB main function a lot better.
I actually don't know, so some additional insights on this would be great.

My beautiful TyTN II is no more charging. I simply don't what has befallen it. Or is that the battery has completely run down and needs replacement or the charging system is damaged? What do I do?

Basic steps 1 remove f-secure anti-virus as this program is resourse hungry and totally useless 2 Go to xda-developers.com and grab the kaisertweak app 3 Set caches at the highest setting 4 Look for scroll fix or install Internet Explorer Mobile for WM6.1

This is the worst phone I have ever had, it boasts all these wonderful features which do not work, to the extent that basic functions like making and receving calls are ineffective. The phone consitently freezes, when I try to type up and text message the characters dissapear and the battery life is non existent...
Save yourself time and trouble and try out a comparitive product.
