HTC TyTN II

Well... you can't compare iphone with tytn ii as both are totally different platforms. I agree iphone is rich in graphics but lacks so many features (no 3G, no GPS, no 3rd party S/W, no qwerty keybord)
if you can survive with QVGA screen you can go for tytn ii (of course it is bit bulky). Except for the lacking GDI drivers it is the best pocket PC in the market.
hope now you can make a decision........

You can run install Linux on pocket PC. However the initial setup will be tedious. I guess you don't want to spend a lot on a device like TyTN ii and want to play with Linux on it.
May be if you are curious and have more bucks to spend you can. Else just go for a Pocket PC which is cheaper in price to try and play around with Linux.
BTW: There are other open source operating Systems such as 'Android' that are specifically made for Pocket PC. just do some googling

have been using tilt for a month now.. screen went blank the second day and the dial screen just froze another couple of times. i found out the reason after some troubleshooting. if u keep the wireless manager (the one which allows u to change to flight mode, start/stop wifi, set to vibrator mode blah blah) on for a long time, the problem starts. The point to note is that even if u close the wireless manager by clicking the x button, it stays in memory. u need to go to start- settings-memory and stop it to completely remove it. no problems at all after that. superb call/signal quality. (except the well known 3d issue)

to all 3d whiner babies. yes it does suck, but with the rigt attitude, a little tweaking and less moaning, u can get a lot out of this device. mine fell five times, and I am a hazard to technology, but this phone is still as sturdy as ever. I think I shall put a complaint about the 3d on hello peter dot com. luv this phone

Has anybody successfully used this with a car kit via Bluetooth? Nokia CK7-W is useless and the echo for the other party is painful - and it makes our corporate voice dialler go all over the place. What do other people have that works?

PocketToolman is a small freeware app that has an os tweak to stop the phone going to sleep during a call. It's a handy little application that can also keep Wi-Fi alive etc etc. Here's the cab file http://www.speedyshare.com/273631642.html

Fantastic PDA I love all the things it can do. However one small niggling problem which NO ONE can fix is How to keep the keypad active during a call. It only stays visable for 20 seconds. This does not change even when the backlight option is max'd. The only way to bring the screen back to life is to touch the start button on the side of the phone. Any ideas on how this can be fixed

The screen is fine,as is the general build quality. It's the absence of drivers that's letting us down
