Anonymous, 26 Jul 2023what happened to the good old LCD panels?I would say "Yesss!!" an Oled. I hate LCD displays just because of the glare there is as a result of the back-lighting that these panels require. Also the colours are in most cases less attractive. Of course this is my preference and I already had discussions on GSM Arena with people who prefer LCD and I'm fine with that.

Super Android 22, 18 Jul 2023The 8g2 is as good/better in most aspects vs even the a16 (... moreNo, it's not, also A16 wasn't even a planned upgrade - it's the same SoC as A15 is, could say Apple didn't even bother - because they can not to..

One M had curved back, front speakers and centered camera.
Iphone 6/6s had flat back, cam in the corner and bottom speaker.

DarlingYext, 20 Jul 2023Now, that's just saddening. Can you link me/us some ar... moreThese were in the FIH mobile server, currently inaccessible to us at the moment.
If they manage to allow access to their servers at some point in the future, then we've hit the jackpot!!
Apart from that, under Steve Jobs' rule, design flaws were addressed without sacrificing functionality for the succeeding product.
Abandoning a functional feature as a response to a design failure is something Foxconn did as a tradition, and that tradition continues to date.
It's understandable why HTC quit the mobile business after the pressure-sensitive button failure from the U12+ and why Nokia abandoned Foxconn because of loose USB-C ports and power button failure from the notification LED placed within it.

DarlingYext, 20 Jul 2023To my knowledge they didn't sell their U series, but e... moreApple uses ODM manufacturing too, which was evident by winding up the Foxconn contact
after the iPhone 7 Plus and signing a contract between Huaqin and Tinno for all of their mobile devices (excluding MacBooks, of course). The saddest part is that this information isn't readily available online, and Apple uses sneaky tactics to hide its facts.
Also, Apple designs were outsourced exclusively to Foxconn and Pegatron after the demise of Steve Jobs, hence why HTC and Apple used to share similar designs.

So, their U series is also made by an ODM yes, but it's not licensed/sold to a random cheap company, which then comissions, but rather HTC comissioned it themselves.

Anonymous, 20 Jul 2023Crazy how you're straight up lying to cope with how me... moreDidn't I say "to my knowledge"? I didn't think that would be so hard to understand, but I guess it was.
Anyways, if you have any sources on them using ODM designs for their U series and which ODM are they buying from to be exact, feel free to share it with me/us.

Minu, 20 Jul 2023No hate, but this new breed of ODM-based HTC-branded phones... moreTo my knowledge they didn't sell their U series, but even if they did, the U23 and U23 Pro are actually great phones, so I don't really mind them being ODM.
Every company uses ODM designs, pretty much only Apple is the one that doesn't. Even Samsung uses ODM designs for their A series.

That doesn't mean I hate HTC though, because I always wanted to see HTC come back

30 watt charging, fair enough they are behind in all the phone technology but at least have 80w or 150w if not put a 6000 mah battery inside, I use to love HTC now I wouldn't even take this phone free

Competition is always appreciated and is always good and besides that HTC has always been a great brand and they seem to be readying for a comeback.
