It's still a good phone after 4 years, better than most actual mid range devices. Graphic chipset is similar to high end snapdragons from same era., this was a high end phone in 2018-2019 nevertheless.

I tried to update to EMUI 12 but could not , can you s... moreDon't bother with EMUI 12 update, it lags more than EMUI 10, which is most noticeable when you open any picture in Gallery app, animation has huge stutter lag. Also, depends on what you need/want, but now when you slide down from upper part of the phone, if you want control panel, you need to slide from right, if you want notification center, you need to slide from left. Music widget nor any other widget cannot be removed from control center. On EMUI10 control panel and notification center is together, which is better for my needs.
EMUI 12 looks like unfinished and unpolished product. I reverted back to EMUI 10.

Your USB port ISN'T WORN OUT!
There's simple solution. 😊
I had same problem and cable couldn't be in fixed position, nor phone could be properly charged.
All you have to do it is clean usb port using needle, or even thinner tool, and gently ditch out the dust and small particles out untill you see clear USB port.. You won't believe how much garbage is compressed in the USB port! It's 3 minutes job tho, so my Huawei hangs on cable again with no detaching 😊

B... moreYou can buy it still but I prefer that you buy a One plus with more ram and latest android software in the same range or if you want to enjoy Huawei features then go for P20 pro or p30(google apps supported). They have more ram and better camera. Although huawei p20 and onward uses machine learning to manage only important resources on your device so the ram is not an issue for now atleast.

1. It is much smoother and stable now.
2. Lots of changes in the interface that make it more user friendly.
3. You can no longer check your device's android version but I used a 3rd party app to confirm that it is still running on android 10 but seems much more like android 12.
4. If you face any lag, make sure your device storage is not close to being full. On lesser storage it works just fine.
5. Make sure you read everything carefully when device restarts after the update. Disable what you don't need such as personalized ads.
6. I prefer google feed over the AI assistant in the news feed.
7. The P20 series was designed for professionals and camera photographers. So if you use it in a professional way(i.e. don't degrade its chipset with heavy games and heating), It can still work well for 2 more years at least.

It is slugish a bit, battery doesnt last that long anymore, especially in standby although i changed it for the original one in huawei service center. From what i see alot of data is sent to huawei, e.g. when you use gallery app for looking at camera pictures or when you want to edit video which is a bit strange. Also alot of useless calls to google eats battery as well. Display started to show white spots which you can only see on white background so it is not that big of a deal. Speakerphone quality is not that good, usb port is worn out so when i want to charge it, charger can fall off.
I still cannot find good upgrade for this phone, flagship grade which is light,smaller phone with IPS screen, good camera with optical stabilization and good battery.

Anyways I've seen it work well on other Huawei devices and actually simplifies things. And you can always revert your phone back to emui 10 using hi suite on pc so just go ahead and try. I'm pressing the download and Install button as soon as I'm done writing this reply. Hopefully it'll be better than the previous version.

Had mine since 2017 still working great. It didn't slow down like some phones do. I dropped it many times and the only thing I has to replace was the glass lens cover but it was cheap and easy to do, myself
10/10 phone. Won't be replacing this until it dies, if it dies. 5 years solid daily use do far.

This is one of the best huawei gadgets i ever own.The phone run smoothly ,the speed is fast thanks for huawei. It offer the best camera .. Am using mostly to game . General performance is pleasing guys i have two months using it. Good one to go

Had this phone since 2018 and still works perfectly, I take it with me everywhere and it's survived an eventful life. (does have small crack on the screen now however). Phone was top of the range when I first bought it. Adjusting to no headphone jack was a bit annoying, ended up buying bluetooth headphones which I actually really like now. Time to think about finding a replacement phone, but not sure what phones can be as good for similar money.
