No really, Miui 12.5 now bans you from using gestures with launchers. Maybe the people you saw were on MIUI 11 (older version) or modded Miu 12.5 ROMs, like xiaomi EU ROM.
The complaints on the first video are of the system refusing to switch to gestures. I fixed that with a follow up tho
You heard of YT Vanced? On MIUI you can't install Vanced without disabling something called Miui optimization. Which should not be tampered with. It's literally hidden at the bottom of developer options. That's going to be my next video.
I found a safer workaround for that as well. Even Infinix doesn't have this problem smh

Pixel 6 and 6 Pro of course come with more than 60Hz, I'm talking about the rumoured Pixel 6a that has been in the news. And actually the Pixel 6 'only' having 90Hz has been the issue (while Redmi and Samsung has put 120Hz in midrangers). If Google put 120Hz in the Pixel 6, then Pixel 6a would have 90Hz. And sure enough, sure enough I would get it.

Pixel 6 and 6 pro come with above 60 right? If they sold I'm my country, xiaomi midrangers probably would not even be an option for me. I would never have gotten this phone.
Though don't get me wrong, I am definitely happy with it's performance, not it's UI skin. Xiaomi's UI is feature packed, but their decisions on what to keep and what to restrict is what has people mad. With bugs on top.

Miui doesn't like you installing launchers. I made videos on my YouTube channel explaining the best way to use gestures with third party launchers because Miui 12 just won't let you. Imagine that. You are left with no option but to switch to buttons.
Who the heck does that?? Not even Infinix!
Xiaomi's UI decisions are blockheaded and they just want only their products to be used. Which should not be the case on Android.
Animations break, recent apps switcher breaks (partly Miui has 2 recent apps style. And they force you to use their own when using a third party launcher vertical scrolling instead of horizontal).
I have to endure all these inconsistencies caused by xiaomi every single day.

I said "do not affect frame rates every single time" meaning, skins definitely do. But not everytime. Which is exactly why I used the app drawer as my example.
Frames don't drop on the launcher home screen. Just in the app drawer.
As for launchers solving xiaomi UI issues, no. That's far from the truth. Very far. I'm only using nova for it's extreme customizability and fluidity as opposed to the iOS clone that miui and
