Thong, use a sandisk card and you won't have a problem, some brands have issues reading in these phones

Help. I have a LG CU500. And I need that software but the link doesn't work does somebody else have another link. I have the USB cable and the 1gb microsd card. I even have a transflash card but it still doesn't work. If anyone has the software or a link to it I would totally appreciate it.

A previous poster discussed the need for a data cable and memory card. The card is necessary but instead of buying a cable, spend the 20 bucks and buy a memory card reader. They are 20.00 and can be used for micro, mini and sd through your usb port. No software needed and it works like a flash drive. You can load/unload your pics, videos and music by dropping and dragging in and out of the folders. The best part about this reader is that it works with any phone. You're not stuck with a useless cable when you get new phones down the road.

i have had this phone for about a month, and i love it! the only problem that i am having is that my CPU will not read the SD memory card that i have in it. when i have the memory card seperate the CPU will read it, but in the phone it will not. i have figured the bluetooth, but that is way too time consuming, and the only other thing in my home that has bluetooth is my dads PDA/CPU. can anyone offer any advice???

Found this on the net check it out...

What's with cell phone carriers in the U.S.!? LG gives away this software free in the box on every version of the phone in other countries; in Australia it's known as the "TU500" and has video-phone calling (our CU500 has the capability but it's disabled in the firmware because no telco here offers it)

Can you BELIEVE they went to all the trouble of making an entire Suite of software for this phone like moto phone tools, and Cingular decides we don't need it?

anywho, here's the link to download the software:
                            Download: http://au.lgmobile.com/webwar/jsp/phones/mnswList.jsp
you'll see the TU500 with pic, and a download link for the software, left-CLICK the link, don't rightclick and save-as, (it's java) it downloads the entire contents of the CD (including drivers and such)

Here's what the installer shows you:

                            PC Sync -
"LG Desktop" app is for Outlook or Outlook Express syncing (and CSV), also allows you to edit/view Contacts, Calendar, Memo, and Tasks.
"LG Sync Manager" (installs with LG Desktop) adds PDA like sync capability, you just plug in the phone (or bluetooth) right click the icon and click Syncronize, and you're always up to date. Very cool little mighty app that has conflict resolution and multiple data overwriting options similar to palm/activesync.
                            Phone Manager
"LG Phone Manager" is the FUN and VERY FUNCTIONAL watered down version of LG Desktop, but it's easier and lets you backup and restore the ENTIRE phonebook entries (INCLUDING CONTACT-PHOTOS and custom made avatars in it's little avatar creation app) on the phone and create/edit entries on the PC, a MUST. (you can even do your phone book using pics from your PC and it even helps you crop and resize the pics for the phone's screen!, and then uploads the pics at proper resolution when you do export to phone, it's so cool!!!!!!)
Internet Link - internet connection app, but all of it's presets are for EVERY COUNTRY ON THE GLOBE BESIDES THE U.S., so some tweaking will have to be done to get this one to work (most of the *XX# type codes are similar in other countries, and it lets you see what it's doing, shouldn't be too dificult)
USB Drivers - yes, USB drivers
Manual (for the TU500, same phone but different features)

anywho, after you install it, double click the LG Sync Manager app, you'll get a yellow swirly icon in your system tray, right click it and choose "configurations" (good spot to take notice what's in here too) go to communication settings, and choose bluetooth or USB, and pick the port (if it's not already highlighted), and VIOLA! full PC software suite for U.S. LG CU500 owners. I dont' even OWN the USB cable, I'm using a 4 year old Microsoft bluetooth dongle from a keyboard i used to own lol.

If you buy a USB bluetooth dongle you will not need software to send stuff to your phone. Just attach to your USB port and windows will detect it. I did download an MP3 splitter to create MP3 ringtones, split the song to the section you want and save it that way, then send it to your phone. You can also google MA730 which is a software package but i really don't recommend it because you will have to go to their website and download an update to support this phone. It's really up to you though. You will need to set up your phone for bluetooth also, just follow your user guide for this.Once bluetooth is enabled you can send pics, mp3s, etc to your phone, even to friends with bluetooth data capability. Have fun.

I have three questions (quick answers pleasse!)
-which phone is better-the sync or the cu500?
-can mp3s be set as ringtones or text message tones?
-can mp3s be transferred to the phone using itunes?
                                  thanks

You can also use a bluetooth dongle an attach it to your USB port, this will enable you to send MP3, pictures, etc, to your phone. All you have to do is set it up through you PC. It's cool. You will need a microSD card to store music. I bought mine online for 20 bucks, i also downloaded an MP3 splitter to create ringtones, for free. There's lots of cool features, you can attach earphone to use it as an MP3 player. Hope this helps, this phone is awesome!!!!!!!!!

To put music on your phone, go to the store and get this... SD Micro it is a small chip (about the size of a fingernail) that fits in behind your battery in a slot, its in the upper part of your cell.
You can find this chip at most home electronic stores (best buy, comp usa, etc)
you will also need the accessory pack that has he usb hookup for the cell phone...
They don't make it easy or cheap, but that is how to do it without doing the phone dial up downloads and paying all the time.
