Battery is dying, oh let me change the modular. You guys look funny having all of this modular. you become a marine or a soldier. carrying them like ammo clip around your waist. Go get a life. Life's Good? if you say so darling.

I prefer the smaller screen size, had my hands on the new Nexus 6P made by Huawei and it's far too big. For me a phone is supposed to be portable and that means still being able to fit it in your pocket!
Kudos to LG for trying something different, Love that they've managed to keep the removable battery and upgrade to a metal body.
Smaller battery size isn't great and my LG G2 that I have at the moment has to be charged twice a day, I do use it a lot however, mostly to check the time. I hate clocks/watches (the ticking!) so I don't have any in the house and rely on my phone and TV for the time, I must check my phone 100 times a day for the time. Therefore the always on display is perfect for me.
Love that the volume buttons have been moved to the side that was the one thing that irritated me about the previous LG G range, having ot pick the phone up to change the volume.
LG bloatware is no where near as irritating as Samsung's (have a Samsung Tab S 10.5 tablet) so I'd never get a Samsung phone for that reason.
Not really interested in a fingerprint scanner, don't really see the point. I'll just be using a passcode.
Would have preferred a 64GB option too I know it's expandable but it's not quite the same most apps can't be stored on an SD card for obvious reasons so really it's just music and photos. I use Spotify so I doubt that stores on the SD when you download it.
Overall a great phone, Give me a date and I'll be the first person buying it!

I'll support LG until they eliminate removable batteries on their flagships as they seem the only smart global brand who hasn't removed it yet.
LOL @ the haters. This is Samsung's tock year. The Galaxy S7 is basically the "s" year like iPhone 6s or HTC One M8 and M9. LG went tick. Hoping HTC goes tick this year after rehashing two years in a row.
LG is pulling off REAL INNOVATION here. Stuff others will eventually copy from. It just hasn't marinated on all you numbskulls yet. And give them credit for going METAL. I prefer matte soft plastic but I would pick metal over glass any day. So when Samsung refines and rehashes, they get praised? When LG tries to innovate (yet again), they get criticized? The G4 was basically a rehash of the G3. If G5 rehashed like what HTC did to the M9 last year, they surely would get criticized for it too.
Project Ara is upon us... What the G5 is doing is giving back more control to the users and an early preview on what our 2020's decade smartphones might look and act like. At least a modular design seems to be more useful than some flashy and gimmicky dual-edged screen.

AnonD-492885, 22 Feb 2016You must be bloody joking m8I'm not the one who's joking. Actually LG is a joke in terms of smartphone. This modular is an old school idea of HTC Salsa.

The more I read about the G5, the more I want it over the S7 edge. LG is really thinking for the next decade. You can only do so much with a slab design. The biggest G5 complaints I hear are...
- FUGLY design. I think it is ok. When the Nexus 6P came out, not many people complained on the looks. What LG proved is you can have a metal design and still have a removable battery like the old HTC days. I think the slide-out modular design is a fantastic concept that is probably a few years ahead of its time. Some thought the fingerprint scanner was a gimmick before becoming a mainstay. Apple even copied the always-on Siri taking cues from the og Moto X.
- 2800 mAh battery. This might not be remedied except through the fast charging (0-83% in 30 minutes) and being swappable for something bigger.
Too many people complaining on the superficial when the real beauty with the G5 is within.. and it slides out too. I have went back and forth with the pluses and minuses of removable battery which other OEM's have gone away because of the metal or glass designs. LG just showed us how to have the best of both worlds while opening up potential with LG Friends with the other. By the 2020's decade, how we all use our smartphone will change with our daily habits.
LG G5 might be the most innovative smartphone since the original iPhone. But it is the LG hardware and not Apple software like what iOS brought to the table. The S6/S7 edge is more "gimmick" than the modular design of the G5. I hope more OEM's actually copy this modular design to revive removable batteries again. Because we all know battery is the first one to go broke after so many charges.
