According to your comment, it seems that you are very new to touchscreen phone since we all knew long time ago that resistive cant do multitouch. You also have no idea about Android whatsoever but i think u just wanted something new and packed with the newest OS doesnt matter you know how to use them or not....

Carbonize, 15 Aug 2010Well I just upgraded from an 18 month old LG Arena to this ... morethe promixity sensor is not needed on a resistive phone so much. also, ending a call is done by swiping, not a press
and on a small screen, resistive is preferable due to the higher precision
i just love people going around saying "this phone doesnt have this and that"
there are phones that have those things and are more expensive for it. so go look at them

I don't think LG will give this phone the Android 2.2 Frayo upgrade even though the Optimus is capable of it because LG is going to bring out new phones that have will have 2.2 built-in!
Its a shame that LG don't bother to support their products. HTC beats them back, they are giving all their phones released this year the 2.2 upgrade!

Oh and OS support. Android has many companies supporting it and hundreds of people developing apps for it, Bada only has Samsung.

Well I just upgraded from an 18 month old LG Arena to this and apart from the OS it's a bit of a come down. Given the Arena is almost 2 years old surely the parts must be cheaper these days? I mean this phone has resitive touchscreen where as the Arena had capacitive with multi touch. This phone only shows 256k colours but the Arena shows over 16m. No proximity sensor is stupid in a touchscreen. The Arena's camera is 5 MP with Schneider-Kreuznach optics and LED flash. I'm sure they could of quite easily used all of the above in the Optimus with only a minimal price increase.
Other than that it's a great phone. I wanted an Android phone but they are all to big for my tastes. and this just fits nicely in the pocket. Also there is an update coming for this phone towards the end of September that bring Android 2.1 to it.
As with all Android phones remember to install a decent app killer as it has a habit of not terminating the apps properly when you have finished with them and so ends up eating your battery.

Thanks,
Yes, indeed, I can spot what looks like a tiny bubble, and it started to peel close to the buttons now. It really is almost invisible. I got mine on carphonewarehouse.
Screen is quite responsive even with it on (never had a touch-screen phone before), so I'm willing to compromise on this.
Any important update from 10A to 10D? This LG update tool, crashes on windows 7, even with compatibility to windows 2000 and administrative rights.

Yes, on the back and front, there should be the standard plastic strips found on stuff these days..
the one on the back is kind of flimsy, and peels off easily, whereas the front, its well stuck on, goes to the full area of the screen, and down to just above the buttons.
Almost invisible on mine it was, until i started to pick at the screen, - I did think it strange there wasnt any protection, but it's well stuck on.
Screen is more responsive with it off, but obviously more protection with it on..
I've seen this on both mine, and someones Orange model, so it's factory done..
the front one is pretty good, and Yes, i would say it's as close to a screen protector, as you will get.

[deleted post]If you looked at the improvements from 1.6 GT540 to 2.1 GT540, you would see that its minor, and some have been integrated already, in the custom software that LG do, so please refrain from namecalling, as it's not big, and not clever, and really, it shows a weak mind.
