          Welsh_Dude, 04 Aug 2010I've had the phone for a week now - a couple of questions: ... more@ Welsh_Dude,

          1. Pass...haven't bothered with the contacts.

          2. No update yet, 1.6 is it, but guaranteed to be posted here when there is.

          3. www.google.com/calendar
          go to settings..
          then select "Calendar Settings"
then with the tabs which say "General, Calendars, Mobile settings, etc, click "Calendars", then on the right, click "Browse interesting Calendars".
          Click "More".
look for “Contacts’ birthdays and events”, then click "Subscribe
Just resync your phone, and it should update at some point.

And if yours is faulty, then so is mine, as it can get warm if in your pocket, or you have been using it.

I've had the phone for a week now - a couple of questions:

            i) Is it possible to sort contacts by surname?
ii) Is there an update for the Android version (mine's currently 1.6) and if not, how will I know when an update is available?
iii) How do I make my contacts' birthdays appear on the calendar?

Also, my phone gets a little hot sometimes in my pocket - is this normal?

Yeah, it can ring quite loudly, speaker phone can be quite loud too, still clear though, avi playback is fine, audio isnt too loud, but loud enough to be heard in an average room quite well..

headphones would be better for watching movies or videos i guess, as i said the speaker is quite clear, but flat..so even maybe a different media player than the stock one..

as for youtube, as you know, some videos audio is terrible, some good, some loud, and some quiet..so that's all youtube dependant...

and reception on o2 is crystal clear..
other owners might be able to say what it's like on other networks, but should be just as good as any other phone.

ste, 03 Aug 2010Hi just bought a optimus 2day i love the phone in all ways ... more@ ste,

I've posted this several times, so a quick look over the past few pages would show it, but here it is one more time....

To change your Notifications to something other than the stock ones:

In the root of your SD card, create a folder called Media, and inside that folder, create another folder called Notifications(you can also add folders called Wallpaper, UI, Ringtones, for their own stuff).
Place your desired tones in the newly made Notifications folder, and in your main settings screen, you can select the Notifications sounds you want, for everything other than texts.
                          - this screen lets you select notifications for everything bar texts/MMS.

If you want to use a different text tone, than the normal ones, enter your messaging programme window(green icon on main home screen, and press menu, then settings, scroll down to ringtone, and it will show all the ones you have added.
This lets you use a ringtone for calls, in the main phone settings, a notification for everything(bar texts), and in the text menu, a seperate ringtone for texts/MMS, etc.

TBH, I haven't experienced that yet, and I've had Copilot running(you can back out of it and re-enter and it will continue), alongside Twitter app/Facebook app, GPS on, quickly(in my mind) downloading/installing an app or two, getting texts, and receiving calls..

Suppose that's not running it hard, but TBH, never had any kind of lag, or warnings yet.

                                  1. Either get a case/gel skin, which have started to appear now, or live with it is the only solution, lanyards are so 10 years ago, and not 100% reliable either..lol.

                                  2. No, they can't, most you get is a "turn on wi-fi", or "this app needs wi-fi on - set to on?".
Not so much of a hardship to press the Menu touch sensitive button, and hit the wi-fi button, as a quick step.

                                  3. If the satellite icon is still on the top bar, then yes, it's still running.

                                  4. the old way was clunky, and in reality, the instant message way seems a lot quicker, no browsing through folders, you just scroll through a conversation.

If you have the o2 version, theres no software updates as of yet, just to save you the trouble..
I'm sure it tells you prior to this though, that theres no software update(you can cancel the install, if it recognises the phone, as the driver is already installed, otherwise it wouldnt see the phone.)

                                    Server might be down, etc...
I know it works, as i installed the drivers before, but each time i check, "No updates" is what i get.
