Everytime I check online for any software updates,(using LG software), I get a new box appearing stating 'installing USB driver'. This box hangs there for a few minutes, and then a new box - 'Unable to connect to Server' - appears.
Anyone else experiencing this?

Kean, 02 Aug 2010Can you run apps from the SD card? I believe the internal m... more@ Kean,
No you can't run apps from the SD card, you need android 2.2 to do that, and the next update, which is on its way is Android 2.1 for this phone..
Still, with the apps as little as half a meg, you can install lots..
I've got about 12-14 installed on mine, and still have nearly 80meg left, and TBH, dont use half of them.
Quite possible LG may add this as a feature, or customise the OS to do something in either the next or a future update, or indeed someone to add it to a custom rom.

Can you run apps from the SD card? I believe the internal memory is quite limited in size.

Anonymous, 01 Aug 2010a few questions about this phone:
1. i havent found an o... more1. It's not an ipod, theres no lanyard hoop, so either look for a case with one, or live without, and just either use the phone as is, or buy a case to cover it.
2. You choose which way it's connected, some apps may point you to enable 1 or the other, but you can disable or enable either mobile network or wi-fi.
3. GPS can take some time, to get a position, and google navigation only works in some countries.
4. text messaging now is like an instant message conversation, so when you click on a conversation, all sent/received messages to that person are shown, but you also have the draft feature, etc.
There are other messaging apps, like Handcent, etc, that may be slightly different to the norm, and there may be some apps that act like the old outdated style of texting, with folders, but it's neater the way it is now.

Red, 01 Aug 2010One more question (probably to Yoda aka RottenFoxBreath!). ... more@ Red,
Yeah the mp3 player is very good, basic, no Equaliser, but does a good job nonetheless.
The phones speaker is pretty good quality, a bit flat, with little bass, but very clear.
With headphones on, it sounds just as good as any other mp3 player, and with plenty of media players on the market store, with adjustable Equalisers, shouldnt be too much of an issue if you are a basshead.

[deleted post]The phone will be sim-locked to o2, but there is no branding on it.
The phone can be unlocked easy enough, by purchasing a code, and entering it, into the phone, just like others.
But as far as o2 onscreen branding, theres no o2 boot screen, no o2 browser, etc..the only thing is pre-set API's which can be deleted, and the browser starts off on o2's homepage(a bookmark/homepage which can be deleted, and set to your own).

Anonymous, 01 Aug 2010a few questions about this phone:
1. i havent found an o... more@ Anonymous
1. There's no lanyard hole, what do you think it is, an ipod? lol
Buy a case/holder for the phone, they might come with one.
2. If all are off, you can choose, it won't auto prompt you all the time, it will just tell you to enable one or the other.
3. You have to be outside for the GPS to show and work correctly(clear view of the sky).
And its not instant, takes time to lock on..you can check, as it will tell your location, and you can check, etc.
If you are using a Nav programme, they usually have the GPS jiggery pokery in the settings somewhere, but I havent tried google maps with GPS yet, but GPS works fine on the GT540 in Copilot, and Navdroyd, for example, and gives detailed information, on the GPS connection.
4. Messaging is slightly different now, its not so much texting as Instant Messaging, so all the texts you send, are saved in a conversation with that person, and you just open the conversation, to see all sent and received messages..can't see why anyone would want to go back to the prehistoric folders options, when this is far quicker and cleaner, but hey ho...
you still have draft, etc in the main menu of the messaging programme, or why not search the market for messaging programmes, like Handcent, Pure messenger, etc.

a few questions about this phone:
1. i havent found an opening for the lanyard eyelet. there is a hook of some sorts below the batter, but the back cover fits tightly... anybody found a solution?
2. is there a way for the phone to ask you which connection (wap/wlan) you want to use when going online, like in symbian?
3. ive tried to use google maps, turned on the gps and the symbol of a satellite appeared. but when i pressed home button, that symbol disappeared... still, the maps app was still running, so i dont know is it still using the gps. or is there an app which shows the status/nubmer of satellites the phone locks to
4. is there an app which can display sms messages in folder, like inbox, sent, draft...?
thank you

ichisen, 31 Jul 2010I just purchased mine today. I am still getting confuse, tr... morebest advice, is RTFM!, specifically the setting section, it explains everything, and even the phone menu is simple, look in the settings for Sound and Display, or press the Menu sensor in app, etc.
Take your time, and learn about the new features you will get.
Also, from my post on page 4, if you want to customise, your ringtones, have different for/from message notifications, general notifications, etc, then follow these steps:
In the root of your SD card, create a folder called Media, and inside that folder, create another folder called Notifications(you can also add folders called Wallpaper, UI, Ringtones, for their own stuff).
Place your desired tones in the newly made Notifications folder, and in your main settings screen, you can select the Notifications sounds you want, for everything other than texts.
- this screen lets you select notifications for everything bar texts/MMS.
If you want to use a different text tone, than the normal ones, enter your text window(green icon on main home screen, and press menu, then settings, scroll down to ringtone, and it will show all the ones you have added.
This lets you use a ringtone for calls, in the main phone settings, a notification for everything(bar texts), and in the text menu, a seperate ringtone for texts/MMS, etc.
