Try clearing your inbox? (There's SMS backup software)
Turn your phone off and on again?
If all else fails...
1) Reset your phone (not recommended)
2) Get other SMS app (Highly unlikely problem will go away)

i called my network but according to them there is no specific setting to open my gprs

i bought this phone about 10 days from now, i think its cool since it's my first wifi, and touch screen phone.. but i have a problem cause i receive a message on the same day and it keeps on appearing in my notification drawer even the message was sent 10days ago, i also keep on seeing a 1 message received when you unlocked it though you can't find it in the inbox... and one more thing i cannot open the gprs of this phone or even connect to the internet using mobile connect.... PLEASE HELP ME...

I bought this phone a day ago and used it for 24 hours.
You read about the wi-fi, the apps, this and that which are all lovely. What you don't read is the basic things that we still want in a phone to be simple and straight forward.
Texting:
I own a Samsung D600. From receiving a text, Slide up, 'View'. Two steps and you are reading your text.
On the GT540, it takes FOUR steps. Wake phone, Slide to unlock across screen, click Messages, click on message from thread to view.
It's a faff!!
Contacts:
Every phone I've used has a method to state if a phone number is Home, Office or Mobile. Sometimes more.
The GT540 doesn't. It only has 'Mobile' and clicking it you don't get further options.
O2 have not helped at all, and are pointing me to LG.
Searching Contacts:
My D600, you click Contacts and immediately you can start typing to get your friend's name.
The GT540, you get to contacts, then you either scroll down, or have to click search, to click in the search field to then start typing the name.
Like the text... It's a faff.
NO FLASH.
Cannot use Skype as it isn't supported yet.
Cannot use iPlayer, mainly coz of Flash, but also, iPlayer web site states it doesn't support it.
YouTube app is fine, but be nice to be able to download clips to watch them 'offline', ie. on a plane.
I thought I would be a big fan of this phone. But just 24 hours has made me go right off it.
Great to give excellence in new areas, but for goodness sake, give excellence in the 'current' areas that we have all been use to.
I like LG. I like Samsung. I generally like O2 (tho support on this has been low).
But this phone: sorry, for the faff of the basics alone, it falls below an overall 7/10. More like a 6 or 6.5 for me.

Hi, I've been using this phone for a few days now n I must say its alot better then I thought it will be, n I'm surprised wit the screen cuz I have an iPod Touch n knowing LG has resistive sreen I wasnt expecting much from its sreen but it turned out great n quiet sensitive for an resistive touch screen. This is the first Android I'm using, I was happy with iOS but I think Android is even better now wen i started using it. I'm verry happy with the phone. But I have one silly question, well i have a car charger for an iPod Touch, its an adapter for the ligher in the car n it has USB exit on it so you can plug in any USB cable in it, but since its made for the iPod Touch i wonder if its goin to work with this phone n is there any change that I could damage my phone so if anyone can help me with that I would appreciate it cuz I dont want to damage my phone or battery. I tried the charger wit my old Sony Ericsson and nothing bad happend to the phone it just didnt charge so i guess its not goin to damage this one either but I want to make sure because I just got it lol... Thanks for help.

Wifi, or 3G browsing will kill the battery, it's the same on all phones.

but i hv been facing problem with its battery backup... if i am browsing continuously for 2-3 hrs it battery becomes empty....
is this with everyone who is using this cell....???

i hav been using lg optimus gt 540 for about 3 days from now.. its a great phone, but i have a small problem my auto - rotate is not working from today morning ... please help me......

Thanks to magabubbletea. fistly i've never knowingly flashed my ROM at anyone. but if you mean, what program did i use, then i can help. it was the LG mobile phone software update program. have down loaded all usb drivers,pc suite lv. etc etc. have tried mounting phone, but that's only for sd card, so when instructed i just plugged it in. admin mode, i havn't a clue. went through motions, opened lg tool, plugged phone when prompted, connection progress bar ok. move onto update window. analisis, enviroment, battery level, connection etc. then onto update window. progress bar doesn't move (remains empty) after approx 5 min it just kicks me out, 'failed to gather update info, check internet connection/try later. and that is about where i am. fish out of water. sigh.

I do however, keep getting a warning triangle (top left)) that is why i wanted the manual in the first place. The manual on the lg site is the same as what comes with phone. ie, not sufficient.

lg is great. Make my life good. Great i root my phone and updated my gt540 to android 2.2 froyo. Now it give fast performance. Dnt lag. Lots of app N games now i can install. Tethering working fine. sd card i can use now to install app. Its awesome. Superb. Great phone thanks lg
