Yesterday, I updated my T-Mobile GT540 from 1.6 to 2.1, using 'V20B_00(2).kdz'. It appears to be working fine.

I followed the excellent instructions laid out by Rotten Fox Breath (and others), so a big thanks to them.

The phone now seems to boot up a little bit quicker and it no longer has the long list of (mostly unnecessary) apps that LG had initially installed. Now off to the apps store to see what new goodies are awaiting ;-)

So its pretty balanced. You either get a good touch screen or a more wide range of apps. YOu can't get both unfortunately not yet. Until then...your decision.

And because he's one of the few people on this forum who actually knows what he's talking about, I followed his example. Now we both enjoy the benefits of a 480 x 800 AMOLED screen (which you can see in bright sunlight)!
                  Oh yes, and it's LOUD!

It still has issues, with the touch screen, as in, the edges..especially the notifications bar, and sides...this is the resistive techs downfall, that the touch is poor towards the edge of the screen.

That and it's really poor performance in medium+ sunlight, you can hardly make out whats on the screen.

It was a nice phone, but TBH, but the screen, it's far too small, looking back on it.

This touch screen is probably the most responsive RESISTIVE touch screen available. Nearly comparable to capacitive touch screen phones. Still good. Means that you don't accidentally click something always like you do with ultra responsive capacitive screens.

I bought this phone a week back. The touch is better than Nokia. It competes with capacitive screens. Its new to me so yet to deep dive for applications.

Just bought it a few days back.
+ve: Though resistive touchscreen but far better than Nokia touchscreen. Processor performance is good while running apps.

-ves: The battery runs out in 24-36 hrs on a normal usage even without 3G. Sound quality could have been better.I have already experienced call dropping issue twice. Seems the phone has advanced options but misses on basic things like call/battery/sound. Would comment more as I get to know it

Happy, 29 Oct 2010was video calling is possible into GT 540 plz reply me@ Happy,

No, there's no front secondary camera for video calling.

But there is an app, that lets you use the normal camera for video calls, but you would more than likely have to sit in front of a mirror for it to be of any use, as they wont see you, and you wont see them otherwise.
