I live in Canada and LG are now repairing the boot loop issue but there's a catch... They repair only the phone that are in perfect condition. I hope everyone keep a note on how LG handled this issue before buying another LG product. They should have recalled all phone to fix the issue since it's there for everyone! That's what a serious company would have done to keep their reputation.

Here's my story:
LG customer support asked me to send the phone to a repair shop. I did and then, they charged me 35$ and did not repair the phone because it had a scratch in the glass! LG confirmed that it's their policy. I tried to explain that the scratch in the glass and the boot loop issue are not related but they just repeated the same non sense over and over.

I had to explain the 30 month warranty to them but they then complied. Would have thought they would offer a discount for a new LG. Thx

When I had the boot loop problem I was considering it but it all seemed to be a rather arduous task. I chose to let LG do the repair when I found it was possible for free within three years from the purchase (in Sweden). My guess is that you can probably ruin the phone even more if you don't have any experience doing these kind of repairs and you still have to buy the parts. I may have a go at this though for fun in the future if the phone breaks down again.

I bought my phone in november 2015 and the battery still gets me through the day. I am perhaps not an extremely heavy user playing video games all day long but I have certainly used the phone a lot, so I suppose it can vary with different phones how well the battery lasts. I got the boot loop after 2 years and 3 months, got it repaired without costs, and now it is working fine again, but I avoid letting the phone get to hot.

After 2 years and 2 months with the phone I ve seen the good and the bad of this phone.
                        Advantages:
                        - Maybe the best camera for this price range
                        - Great android experience for light users (Running many apps can fill up the 2 GB RAM easily)
                        - Pretty fast for its time. The processor is good enough even in 2018 (still for light users only due to low RAM)
                        Disadvantages:
                        - Bad battery life (I could never get more than 4 hours and 30 minutes SOT) usually max 2 hours 30 minutes if I tried to keep it alive after 24 hours.
                        - Bootloop or Logic Board failure is a very common issue for this device, mine died one week before.
                        - Overheating especially at summer is leading to cpu throttling and eventually to some lag on UI.

I bought the Google Nexus 5x in May of 2016 and back then I was so excited about it because of its amazing camera, fingerprint sensor and the stock android experience. Two years later and my opinion is now totally different. First of all let's start with the build quality. The fact that this phone is made out of plastic makes it feel cheap and also the color makes it very slippery( The third day I had it it slipped out of my hands and the phone made it's first scuff). Second thing I want to mention is the battery because it's very very bad now that the phone runs on Android 8.1.0. and I can't make a day without charging it 3 or 4 times (bare in mind I make a heavy use ). Also another thing that is seriously affected by the android version is its performance. The phone has become so slow and baggy and it gets extremely annoying especially in every day use. For example when you get out of an app the home screen is empty for a couple of seconds and it also might rotate in landscape even if you hold it horizontally. The multitasking has become a serious problem too and the fact that even Google apps become hard to use annoys me the most. Besides all those drawbacks though the Nexus 5x has a really big advantage and that is the camera. You can take incredible pictures with it and although it was made in 2015 it can still hold up really well with other big flagships today like the iPhone X. In the end though I am not really happy with it and I would not recommend it to anyone even if his looking for a budget smartphone.

The camera has always been very good for me (accept for the upside down videos when using a third party program) and is one of the reasons I like the phone so much. my LG Nexus 5X died about year and a half since i've bought it. i still have love-hate relationship with this particular type because i loved it for many reasons but it got bad pretty fast. Black dot appeared on camera and never went away, sometimes when used it was too hot to be held comfortably, in winter i couldn't use it outside because the cold made it turn off...often i had problems with the screen freezing randomly and i still loved the phone because it wasn't THAT bad. But then one day it just died...no warning, no possibility of entering the boot mode, wasn't charging, not one sign of life. The evaluation process from my carrier is still in progress and i'll wait and see if they repair it under warranty which expires on 27.10.2018

The problem with this phone is overheating. Using the phone for just 5 minutes is enough to make it overheat when I used it at summer. So after 2 year and 2 months it died. And I always tried to avoid games and heavy apps in order to avoid this problem but I guess it happens to everyone eventually.

Yes, it is the heat that destroys the motherboard which causes the bootloop and makes the phone useless. I managed to get mine repaired without costs after I had been using it for over two years. I really like this phone and want to be able to use it for as long as possible so now I try not to let the phone get too hot. The camera is great, the fingerprint function is good and I appreciate the clean Android and always getting the latest updates (at least so far).
