deeboy, 02 Mar 2013S3 is a nice phone. Don't Mind what pple say about it. If u... moreas for people wondering why i dont find the galaxy S3 screen a real 1280x720 screen here are some samples.

as you can see the amoled screen only had 2 coloured subpixels per pixel whre a IPS screen had all 3 colours per sub pixel thus giving a higher actual resolution due to every colour being availeble in every pixel.

heres a example that shows the difference even more clearly :

top is ips en bottom is the pentile amoled as you can see the resolution is clearly lower due to only every second pixel having the red sub pixel.

there is even a entire black line missing on the top there on the pentile screen plus its less sharp.

so amoled with 3 coloured sub pixels = good (if tuned correctly)

pentile amoled = pethethic.

on the note 2 they learned something and went with a 3 sub pixel amoled screen.
and even tho the 1 vertical 2 horizontal layour is odd it still shows:

you just cant argue with the quality difference of 3 sub pixels.
and on phones this expencive pentile amoled just is a comprimise noone should be making.


so less sub pixels = less sharpness (about 30% less !) less details and lower colour accuracy.

how this will work out on these 1920x1080 phones which in theory have more pixels then the eye can see is yet to be seen if they are even stupid enough to make those screens again.
for the sake of quality lets hope they stick with the note 2 screen design or even revert to the normal rgb layout.

anyway hoe this gives some information that helps people understand why i find this s3 screen a fake HD screen.

    anyway be aware that the S3 16 gb variant is dropping in price a lot but the 32 gb variant seems to stay expencive so you might be tricked into thinking its cheaper but your buying a 16 gb instead of 32 gb phone :)

      I have just brought this today and when I got home I tried to connect it to my wifi but when I did it the normal( setting, wifi, search, enter pin, connect,) it's shows its authorised and connected but it doesn't show the icon on the top of the screen nore allow me access to the Internet ? I'm confused because as you can see my Internet is fine :) any ideas? Other than this I'm really happy with this phone it helps me explain things to my wife with the amazing quick note option

If u can get ova de cheap plastic, u 'll definitely have a great device in it. Plus it has suddenly reduced it price in my country, and ofcos nationwide, it's prized at $480-500 now. Pretty much de same with problematic 4x...

          for me the choice was pretty simpel.
          i had the following demands and always came back to the 4x HD no matter how hard i looked.

          -atleast 16gb space
          -1gb ram
          -Micro sd card slot
          -HD screen
          -removable battery as i intend to use this phone for 3 years.
          -400 euro or less (i just think thats a max price for a phone thats hald a months salary).


          so with those things in mind there is only 1 option.
          after i kept gettng that result on every site i kept checking revieuws look for inconsistencys between reviews (take out the fanboy reviews) get to the bottum of those points by mailing LG asking several people who had the phone and readin up on the net.

          and after i had all my doubts and worries removed and the price dropped to a acceptable level i bouhght it (for 365 euro).
          and i must say i havent regretted the choice since.

          doing research and knowing what you want is a must in my opinion if you spend a lot of money.
          that way you know what you get and what you can expect (hence me not whining about battery use i know where it was at and saw there was no better choice).


          wel ive done more then anough typing here for a while hehe ill check back for questions and updates lateron hehe i feel like im writing a book about how to buy a phone here haha.

            update: just finished another test with 2 xores at 1500 mhz and i once more got 5 hours and 30 minutes.
            so you get about 1 hour and 15 min use time from disabing 2 cores.
            i did 1 hours of video and 1.5 hours of browsing
            i also spend 5% of the battery on gaming (which was SHORT) and today i chose dead trigger as a game as its a verry heavy game and it ran as smooth as games do on these phones.

            so there is about a 30% gain in battery life from disabling the 2 cores.
            as a con you do get the rare stutter on heavy tasks but barely noticible otherwise.
            i think ill leave it like this.

            i also once more confirmed the weird battery monitor.

            100% to 90% lasten 1.5 hours use time then it drained like a mofo and got stuck on 22% for a long time again.
            this is something that really needs further investigation as it might explain why some people have weird unusual battery drains and might be a bug.
            the overal battery time is fine but it makes me wonder if the battery is actualy empty if the battery is @ 2% .

            sure the S3 wins but its nit like a rave between a porsche and a volkswagen polo its barely any difference ans not a diffence worth mentioning.
            as for the camera i disagree.
            whe S3 photos are washed out and not because they are over exposed just because there is a white glow to them.
            the 4x is a but dark but thats fixable a white glow is not.
            as fir features yes the s3 is a but faster at burst HOWEVER lg makes photos before and after you shot the actual phoros in its memoery so thats why its slower and you can pick other photos from that anyway.
            so no effective burst that stores all photos but you can choose and store some afterwards which is a neat and storage saving feature.
            as for panorama all phones have that these days 4x hd included.
            then again you can always use different camera apps and then they are about equal.
            and thats the phole point of camparisons use the same software.

            as for updates ive said this over and over and over.
            there is no need for 4.1 as the rom on the 4x is already 100% smooth so project butter adds nothing to the 4x hd then a second user which is useless on a phone and eats memory.

            so at the end these phones dont differ much apart from the massive price difference,the fake hd high saturation screen vs the true hd screen.
            and the fact that one has a sleek rom and the other has a bloated rom.

            what people prefer is up to them but thats just my opinion.
            and before i bought this 4x hd i have to admit i had my doubts because of all the whiners on the net.
            but frankly its proves to me they are just that whiners that prolly are grumpy and sad because they payed WAY to much for there galaxy S3 , one x and xperia S phones.

              + camera in s3 is awesome with the panoroma shot and burst shot +easily u can get all the updates asap nt lyk 4x still in ice cream sandwich ;(

              even though i lv optimus 4x hd,sg3 lyk a gay phone ;)

                  -the rom is better as its smoother and has less clutter installed as i dnt care for most features on the samsung anyway,

                  -the screen is better as the amoled isnt real 720p due to the pentile screen and even tho its less efficient on dark contend its better on white contend so on average power use isnt much different.

                  - and the biggest one is that its dirt cheap compared to the S3.


                  the s3 also has some benefits that you may or may nor care for.

                  -option of a 32 gb rom instead of 16

                  -the cpu is slightly faster but not noticible (2 to 5%)

                  -0.1 inch bigger screen but thats a tiny difference again.

                  so the question remains is tat 5% at best cpu speed 16 gb rom memory and 0.1 inch bigger screen worth the cons and the massive pricetag.

                  the 16 gb version is already 110 euro more expecive (about 35% more expencive)
                  and the 32 gb versionis just stupidly expencive at 200 euros more.
                  thats 90 euros for 16 gb...
                  you can get 64 gb sandisk extreme microsd for that which is double as fast.

                  so price preformance there just is no better choice unless you like the samsung stuff on the rom and dont care forthe sluggishness on the rom and have money to burn.

                      as even with 2 cores on lower mhz the phone gets just as warm making me believe its the gpu part that heats the phone.

                        as for updates id update to v10H of possible for your country otherwise you mst have atleast v10f.

                        if those arent available flash the alternative way (can find this on XDA forums) and flash the eu open v10h.

Of course i would pay attention to manufacturer because of the current and voltage stabilizer they are using. I mean what is the point of saving 10-20$ if i'm going to burn down the phone which costs 350$.

                                on that second one also igno re the vable.

                                and rememver these packs give over 8 times as much power as the stock battery.
                                in total this gives you over 30 hours of battery time (active use) where 4 hours is normal !

I heard that thos batteries arent really good compared to numbers writen on them. Only Mugen Power is a real thing but that battery is really expencive(90$).
