With the stock music player, I wasn't satisfied. But with a good third party player like Poweramp, the sound quality was good. Really, the audio test results on gsmarena is misleading- it's not as bad as they make it out to be.
My previous phone was a Sony W8 and the O4X scores over it in many areas. My Westone 4 used to hiss with the W8 but it doesn't do so with the O4X. That's a good thing- it means that the headphone out has low impedance.

pino, 05 Feb 2013root has nothing to do with your 3g. but if you have wifi ... morethanks pin obut i think u dont understand me ...... my phone is unlocked it works on any network but downloading data via wifi only no 3g at all even downloading from the play store it just downloads on wifi can i unlock that ??? thanks for ur patients with me

but if you have wifi enabled and a netowrk in use your phone should always use wifi instead of 3g.

Zono, 05 Feb 2013Hey I forgive you for your comment. Are you kidding me? LG ... morecare to explain youe statements? the lg battery lasts as long as any other phone out there and for sure longer then the one x (same power hoggig cpu but only 1900 mah).
non gaming about all phones dont get more then 3.5 to 5 hours battery time depending on what apps you use its a simple fact with these immensely powerfull quad cores.
idle this phone uses no battery at all which is just fine.
audio and camera are in my opinion about equal also but lets face ti none of them can beat a 5.1 surround set or a digital camera.
they simply arent made for that.

everything on the web is based arround LG pre reforming the mobile phone department.
its true they used to be really slow up intill the 4x speed.
they released this phone in mid june last year and have since then released 7 updates!
thats not only more then samsung and HTC its also in a really short timespan.
and when you consider that JB was released for the one x on dec 5 but the one x was released 2 months earlyer Q1 2013 for LG is actualy about the same timespan as HTC did it for the one x which is quite good.
as for audio opinions differ for it id say walk into a store and test it with your own headphones same for the camera take your own micro sd card put it in and test it.
everyone has different opinions and standards.

4. opinions on this are varying widely some say its bad some say its good but i personaly think its good enough if you have good headphones and not use the default player.
3rd party players see to use better decoding.
then again i dont listen to any bass heavy music so how bass sounds i dont know my ears cant stand it.
5. depends on what colour you like both have a advantage.
black because the LG Touch led notification work great on it as a notification led which the phone lacks.
white because you dont see fingerprints as much and theres a other app to compensate for the lack of notification leds. (missed message flasher not free for whatsapp tho).
6. yes however as far as im aware this is for EU open versions onlybut you can alwasy flash a EU open rom to the phone then flash a eu jellybean and then once you ahve a unlocked bootloader im sure cygenomod will be hppy to provide 4.2 for the 4x hd :)
the only thing holding back development so far is the darn locked bootloader.
once thats uplocked im sure there will be several roms released even tho that might take a little while.

I am about to buy this phone but there are a fe... more1. i dont think your gonna get a much better camera then these 3 high end phones unless you get the nokie phone with high MP camera but i doubt you want that :).
all 3 these phones have flaws in the camera and the pics it produces.
the S3 seems to have brightness set to high which makes the photos a little washed out in cerain situations and it hard to fix on the computer.
the one x seems to often produce a yellow ting (this can either be a wrong setting in the camera software or its the white balance serring thats just wrong.
the LH seems to often create photos that are a little to dark but this can be ajusted for in the software by adding +1 exposure or even +1.5
as far as night photos go none of them will be close to any recent point and shoot camera and none will ever be near to the quality of a more expencive camera.
personaly i think the photos are quite descent for a phone camera and the KDR function seems tobe doing quite well if you hold the phone realy stikk and really brightens up the dark spaces.
2. i cannot help you here ive not tested this nore do i care for video so yu need to play with a phone orlook at a lot of youtube movies.
3. im not sure what battery issues you talk about but theres a lot of misinderstandings about the battery.
people think that they last all day which is true but only with normal usage.
if you browse or watch movies non stop you should expect a batery time of 3.5 to 5 hours depending on the apps you use.
but if you use some whatsapp 5 min here and there and send quick messages make some short phonecalls you should easely last all day.
in standby the phone should not use more then 5-10% a day and thats me being really generoud.
past 24 hours (wifi on 3g off) my phone used less then 3% battery in standby.
so on average the phone battery is as good as any other phone out there even with the tegra 3 being a battery sucker but as with any device if you play a lot with it (which you will the first days) you will need to charge it more the once a day.
currently im on 1 day and 7 hours in my current charge and the screen has bin on for 1 hour and 41 minutes (so whatsapp wordfeud and inyourfacebook and some short browsing)and i have 63% battery left.
so as you can see with average use your battery will last quite long.
im faily sure that standby time without doing anything with wifi on is up to 7 days which is more them my old dumbphone samsung jet with a amoled screen!

play store realy needs paypall and Ideal (dutch online banking) support.

halo, 05 Feb 2013it's funny that some people here claim their LG 4X HD's bat... moreYou know, I was tempted to lash out at you, but you're right. It's pretty sad that one can't have good battery life and good performance at the same time these days. The beastly Tegra 3 quad processor and a big 720p hd screen will always be battery hogs. The only solutions are either to minimize unnecessary usage by other apps/services or get an extended battery or a spare one.
I don't use most features like maps, lg remote call, todays weather, etc. There's a reason why they (except maps- they're useful) are called crapware- that's because they do nothing useful but run in background all the same and consume battery. Unfortunately, in Android, it's up to us to manage this if the stock system do a good job.
I kind of miss the old days when Nokia ruled with Symbian non-touch handsets. Those things could last for a long time even if you were heavy with its features. My old Nokia 5320 XM could easily last for a couple of days even with a lot of gaming and music listening and its battery was 890 mAH! It only had a 2" screeen though :P Still miss it- it was one of my favorite mobiles ever.

1) Cam quality- I'm not a demanding cam user and for me, the O4X's cam is pretty good. The led flash is strong. There is a cam mod in xda which improves low light performance- I think it works only till V10F firmwares.
2) Video playback? Flawless with mxplayer- can play almost anything I throw at it. If you mean video capture, it had issues in focussing in the initial firmwares. Not sure if this is resolved now as the camera is one of the least used features on my phone.
3) I don't think it had battery issues in the first place. The O4X is pretty frugal while idle but is a guzzler while playing games and browsing the web. The phone can get warm while doing cpu intensive tasks- esp in the area below the LG logo at the rear. There won't be any thermal shutdowns but if you're paranoid about stuff like this, you should be aware of it.
4) I'd talked about the audio quality earlier. I hope my earlier posts can give you a better idea.
5) The screen has a black border inside the bezel that is very noticeable on a white model but isn't noticeable on a black one. So..it's a matter of personal preference. I always like black because I think it looks classier and don't show up stains and dirt as easily as white. On the other hand, if you're a girl, white might suit your tastes.
6) Yes, with an unlocked BL, more custom roms would be available. Already, there are a couple of almost complete custom JB roms available- one is a cm/aosp/pa hybrid while the other one is a cm10.1 port.
If you like custom roms and want them right now, the S3 and the One X are better choices. For the most feature loaded handset that's almost perfect in all aspects except for the bland feminine design- go for the S3. The One X has the best out of the box experience and the best build and design but has caveats in the form of non-removable battery and lack of expansion slots.
The O4X is actually a very well rounded handset- I'm almost surprised that LG could make something that's this good. The main thing against it is the LG brand- people are still sour from the lousy experience they had with the O2X. I don't think that resale value will be a strong point for the O4X either. Local shopkeepers will quote low resale prices for most mobiles that aren't Samsung, HTC, or the new Sonys.

Its battery is not good at all, let alone camera and audio quality. Did you own one? I didn't just comment without knowing. And let's be clear. " i'm not LG's hater". I have used 3 so far: LG KF750, optimus white, and this one 4X HD.

Jelly Bean is coming in 1Q for European users and 1H for Asia, along with unlocked bootloader. The news is there on XDA Developer forums for anyone to see. So time to enjoy your 4X HD. :=))
