Hey guys,
I'm considering buying a cheap LG v20 as I can't afford a flagship phone currently but I'm worried about the self shattering of camera lens glass that was reported by some v20 owners back in 2016. I would love to hear your experiences with v20 in regard to my concern. 🙏

Anonymous, 07 Oct 2019Ghosting or image retention in some V20's is a known issue.... moreFor ghosting/image retention, one can also use 'Color Calibrator' app by HalfCycle. Download and install it from Playstore, turn the upper right toggle switch to 'ON' and set the brightness slider (the 'sun' icon) located at the lowest bottom portion to around 10% to 20%. The lower value for mild image retention/ghosting while the higher one for stronger image retention/ghosting. You can actually choose any value which works best for your phone. Leave all of the other sliders to default (0%) unless if you want to adjust also your V20's color balance. (I use this same app to tame my tab's contrast to reduce oversaturation from the amoled panel).

Gizi, 05 Oct 2019Who else is experiencing image ghosting or image retention,... moreIf you have a rooted phone with a custom kernel, this can be partially fixed through changes in the "screen' settings. Another option is to turn off the "second screen" when the screen is off. I use an app called "Glimpse Notifications" to basically have the same effect as an iPhone where the screen turns on automatically when I life the phone up to look at it.

If you take off the bumpers a lot, those areas can actually get bent up and have a weaker connection. That's what happened to me anyways.

Pristine phone! It was and is to this very day. I well constructed and thought out device. LG did a fantastic job with cleaning up the LG V10 and LG G5. This phone redefined how we use our technology. The cameras, on the rear and front are all awesome! The removable battery, expandable storage and quad dac was what truly got this phone into your pocket. Not forgetting to mention that incredible display and somewhat premium feel in the hands. LG, you made a near perfect phone! One year worth of software support, no one is feeling that :(

A really decent phone, you get a removable battery, a headphone jack, IR blaster (Control any TV with your phone), and a very decent camera with expandable storage. Main issue with this phone is that I have 3 other V20s and they all have reception issues. Very unfortunate, because it is such a good phone but terrible design left it with very unreliable reception issues. I have had no service in some places while someone remarked they had full bars.

To all Indian users of LG V20 who are looking for new batteries- The best option is getting an original battery. They are almost exclusively available from the authorized LG service centers. Most of them in metros would be keeping stock of V20 spares- I got a couple manufactured in August 2019 with GST invoice. Locate the nearest center near you from the LG India website, give them a call and if they are friendly, they would happily courier them to you.
Online availability of spare batteries is bad here. Stay clear of sellers who claim to sell original LG V20 batteries- they are in all probability fake. While the good branded spare batteries from the likes of Powerbear, Zero Lemon, etc. are available easily abroad, they aren't easily available here or would be prohibitively expensive.
Hope this helps in keeping your V20-s ticking for at least a couple of years longer. This phone's the last of its kind- a flagship that was built well with durability in mind. Features like the removable battery, hifi dac, dual 4G sim card slots with dedicated memory card slot, etc are consumer friendly. These traits are absent in the new flagships which are built nowhere as well and are much more fragile. Enjoy this piece of fine engineering while you can.

Ghosting or image retention in some V20's is a known issue. Search back previous posts from August 16, 2019 and apply the recommended fix stated there.
