This is the most slippery phone I've ever owned. It'll be a miracle if it lasts until the grip cover arrives. I really wonder why mfrs go backward with things like that and Android moving the 'Clear All' button away from the controls. (I'm not able to upgrade my Android version now.)
And why on earth are phones so preposterously thin now? Makes them so much easier to break. This one is barely thicker than a piece of paper. Interferes with battery power/function too. Well that's all I have today ;)

Had been using H990DS for almost a year now. Upgraded from a Redmi Note 4. Prior to this, I used to have an LG Optimus 4X which was an absolute dog even though it had a nice build and a sweet screen.
Likes:
1) Fantastic audio quality with good headphones. It's even better than some dedicated audio players. Main reason for me getting this phone.
2) Separate dual SIM slots and a microSD slot. Can use my work and home SIMs in one phone. Automatic call forwarding from one SIM to another. The hybrid SIM/SD card slot in my old RN4 was a major irritant in this regard.
3) The screen is an upgrade from the RN4. Glad that this one is a proper 16:9 screen with square corners instead of the silly tall aspect screens with the rounded corners.
4) Not a huge photography buff, but I can see that this phone can take seriously impressive photos in the right hands.
5) Build quality is fantastic. Love the solid heavy feel this has. None of that pansy glass sandwich crap going on here.
6) Removable battery is a major, major plus.
7) Latest Oreo update hasn't slowed things down or caused any battery drain. Seems pretty stable and smooth.Though LG is late with the updates, the software seems to work well. Way better than the crap that was in the Optimus 4X.
8) I like that this has QuickCharge 3 and USB Type C.
Dislikes:
1) Battery Life is poor since I'm coming from the RN4. FWIW, it is worlds better than the Optimus 4X which had useless GPS and also used to heat up at the slightest load. Switching to Battery saver mode is essential to make it through a day of reasonably heavy calls. Having multiple batteries is more like a necessity if one is going for a trip. Finding new batteries is becoming a chore, though.
2) Curved screen is an annoyance. Sticking on a screen guard that is case friendly is also a challenge- the sides peel off and trap dust. Didn't face this issue with the RN4 which even though it had a curved screen and a case too.
3) Audio can be muffled or indistinct in calls since the screen is big and if we move our mouths away from the base for even a bit. Could also be that I do not speak loudly :D
4) Second screen is nice and all, but since I'm mostly in battery saver mode which turns it off, I wish that real estate was used for the main screen which would have hopefully made it a 6 incher.
Verdict: Call me old school, but I like my gadgets well made and lasting for quite a while. I used the Optimus 4X till it died. The present smartphone design landscape doesn't sit well with me- it's all show and not much utility. The glass sandwich, the notch/water droplet/ punch hole, tall screens with rounded corners, axing the headphone jack and SD card slot are all steps back. A polycarbonate or a well made metal body with a proper 16:9 screen, good audio, nice battery and storage options make a great daily phone for me. That's what the V20 is- a solid, rugged, dependable phone that's good for multimedia creation (this can be a pretty good photograper/ videographer's phone.. when the battery dies, just swap in another one) that was thoughtfully designed and made to last. I'll be using my V20 till this dies or when the smartphone designers come to their senses and start adding some genuine utility instead of this notch and folding nonsense.. (unlikely, though)

Miranda, 22 Apr 2019Hi, I'm new to this phone and a couple of the design choice... moreIn V20's with Nougat, 'Clear All' is stupidly located all the way near the top. But if you happen to upgrade your V20 to Oreo, its already conveniently placed at the bottom near the navigation bar.

Hi, I'm new to this phone and a couple of the design choices mystify me, coming from the V10. First, why did they revert to a smooth case back, after the grippy material on the V10? This one falls to the floor if you put it on most any surface. Fortunately I have padded carpeting, and I've caught it each time anyway. Then, why is the CLEAR ALL button so far away from the Home Touch Buttons? Since that's something I do a hundred times a day, it's dismaying that they've made it more difficult and time-consuming. Previously the two buttons were immediately adjacent, which makes sense since they're used in conjunction. Is there any way to remedy this? TIA.

Leader, 11 Apr 2019Hey guys !!! Sorry i didn't know where to comment so i jus... moreNope. There's no bootloop issue with the V20 not like the G4 which had a large portion of early production units suffering from bootloops due to poor soldering quality. Just buy the V20 brand new or if used, from someone reliable. That way, you'll have no hardware issues.

RunCheetah08, 09 Apr 2019I used this phone for almost 2 yrs and still thought it's g... moreLove my V20 H990DS too despite zero android version updates. (It's stuck with Nougat 7.0, the software it launched with, in 2016). It will be 3 years old late this year but I have a feeling I'm going to have it for 3 more years for a total of 6 years. My Powerbear 6500mAh extended battery used with this phone is really spoiling me. No 2019 phone/phablet can still quite beat its endurance and stamina with the 6500mAh extended battery attached. The battery doesn't sacrifice portability and pocketability (not like those 10,000mAh extended batteries).
I also love that despite having no 5G, 4G+ is still very fast for my streaming and downloading needs. And the dual sim + dedicated micro sd card slot is making me download as much Google and Netflix movies at my home wifi, as much as I want, for watching anywhere, on travels, vacations, etc., no data required. 400GB micro sd cards are now so cheap and soon those 1TB cards will become affordable too. No storage shortage whatsoever even if you record at the highest bitrate 4K video for hours thanks to the dedicated card slot.
The slimport functionality is just excellent too for the best 4K video playback on a large screen tv anywhere (defeats wireless screen share in video quality and fluidity everytime - except in tge area of convenience - no wires needed). And the 4K video quality at low to medium ISO's is just astounding and excellent that I never want to record Full HD videos anymore - ever. The camera can capture excellent low light photos too using manual modes. The manual focus and manual shutter speed (up to 30s) really helps. The audio recording and playback features are without comparison. Lots of manual audio settings too that enables the experienced user to control microphone directivity and gain for that perfect concert recording every time. And the headphone jack audio quality and built-in FM radio makes for a pleasant all around entertainment and listening experience online or offline.
And oh, I love my master remote too. I really can't imagine losing my all-in-one, always with me, cable, tv, aircon, appliance, etc. master remote in the V20. (It's got an IR blaster that can learn/clone IR based remotes) .
Also love that the V20 allows hidden hotspot so nobody asks for my hotspot/wifi password when I'm sharing my phone's mobile data to other devices.
And lastly, that LTE-only mode that keeps the V20 data connection stay on fast 4G connection without automatically switching to 3G/WCDMA whenever the 4G signal is weak in an area I'm in. And oh, that second screen that's always on and contains my favorite shortcuts and can display short greetings and emoticons, as well as notifications. Nothing quite like it.
The 16:9 QHD IPS display has remained very good too - no loss in brightness, no permanent screen burn and no color shifts after all these years not like in amoleds after years of use.
I guess the only thing it doesn't have is a major android software update. It's a good thing I bought two V20's. The other one got updated to Oreo. But really, Nougat or Oreo, I'm staying with my V20's and won't be buying a brand new smartphone in the near future. Will use the money instead to buy a 79" 4K IPS LCD TV soon or perhaps buy a new dSLR camera/lens or mirrorless interchangeable lens camera system. No point for me wasting money on new disposable flagship phones that cost a fortune and die with their sealed batteries yet don't even have half of the features/functionality my V20 has or is able do.

I used this phone for almost 2 yrs and still thought it's good. The battery may have degraded over the time. But, replace it easily, and voila I got the same battery performance 2 yrs ago. The design may be seen obsolete, but I found it unique. LG put their design style waaayy to good in V20 so the phone still looks great in 2019. The military grade make me want to stay with this phone. The glass, camera, or inside hardware never caught a problem even though i dropped it a lot. Love this phone a lot
