I actually use Lux app. You can set brightness to sub zero percent levels, dimming the screen way below 0% so you can read in pitch black conditions without disturbing others with stray light from your phone. The Lux app has settings for auto brightness and you can save profiles. I set the 'cinema profile' to be really dark for reading at night with all lights turned off. I also use it during daytime if I don't want anyone to snoop on what I'm typing in bright indoor or day time lighting as a sort of 'privacy' screen so thay nobody can read what I'm typing.

you are right right, the only reason newer phones are switching to amoled is to extend time between charging. amoled use less battery. further more its only advantage to ips is at night when you really really want to dim the screen. other than that nada. when you compare it side by side to an ips you will notice its bluish color and in time its brightness decreases. Ive learned this from experience. not from going to a retail store, observing it for a minute then bashing someone in the comments section who is really an expert about phones specially the LGV20..

Let me reiterate again the V20 features/advantages over many 'modern' flagship phones that make the V20 truly one-of-a kind that V20-envious users keep on claiming is also available on other phones (except that you have to buy multiple phones to get them all in one phone) :
1. The V20 has a built-in IR blaster to control all your appliances including those of your noisy neighbors. Volume of their sound system too high? Turn it down or turn it off with your V20 secretly through their window. It will scare the hell out of them so they will stop being noisy. Want to input your song number in a karaoke player? You can do it with your V20! Aircon? TV? Washing Machine? Car stereo? Teach your V20. It has a learn mode! Just REALLY spend time learning how to use it and customizing it and you'll wonder how you ever survived using a phone without one.

2. The V20 has dedicated sd card slot, not that stupid hybrid slot where you are forced to choose between dual SIM or one SIM + SD card only. With the V20, you can use the 2 SIM slots AND still add your SD card. What's more, the V20 supports up to 2TB micro sd cards.

3. The V20 is probably the ONLY recent flagship with analog FM radio. All the rest have removed it. When theres a calamity, you'll realize its utmost value when nothing other than your FM radio is working. When you just have to listen to your favorite DJ on those long trips without data available, you are going to realize how much you miss not having an FM radio with you, anytime, anywhere, without wasting data and draining your battery in the process.

4. The V20 has drop resistance which ensures your phone will handle drops. More important than waterproofing really. I have dropped my phone a lot more times than wetting it with liquid and damaging it in the process.

5. The V20 has slimport (hdmi out/4K video out) capability. Wireless screen share of movies is nice but results to downgrade in video quality due to WiDi bandwidth limitations. Not so with slimport. Also, the V20 is licensed to play Google Play movies in HD. You may not be aware of it or notice it but on a Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo, Vivo, Oneplus, Lenovo, and other lesser known phones, HD playback on the phone of Google play movies is not allowed even if the phone is capable. It's a DRM (digital rights management) /studio thing. You can't change it.

6. The V20 has removable battery. Low batt? Replace with a fully charged spare while charging the depleted battery using an external charger accessory. That means no charging time needed, no wear and tear of usb port (loosening), and no frequent exposure of phone internals from heat generated due to charging. Forget slow wireless charging! Why accelerate battery wear with even more heat? External charging is best!

7. The V20 has high quality audio recording, high-quality 4K video capture with manual controls and superb photo capture with dual cameras and full manual controls.

8. The V20 has a high resolution QHD IPS display with SECOND SCREEN. Place app shortcuts, your name or even Christmas greetings or whatever you like (Halloween, Valentines, emojis, etc.) on the second screen.

9. The V20 has fast charging when you need it through USB-C. It's OTG compatible too! Usb thumb drives, external hard drives, even those in NTFS and exFAT formats (not limited to FAT32) can be read with the proper app.

10. The V20 has analog headphone jack when all the rest have removed it.

11. The V20 has LTE advanced (4G+) with support for wall penetrating 700mhz. It has ABILITY to FORCE network mode to 4G/4G+ only (LTE only) for those places where the auto mode (GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto) keeps on giving you the slower HSPA/HSPA+ (H/H+) signal. You can't do that on iPhones, Huaweis and Samsungs.

12. The V20's screen is a bright, 5.7" IPS panel in ideal 16:9 aspect ratio. 18:9 may be IN nowadays but consider this: 18:9 screen actually makes Facebook photo feeds smaller! 18:9 is too narrow. It makes keyboard typing cramped for the same screen diagonal! Reading in 18:9 curved phones look like reading text from a bottle of shampoo! Too much scroll! Amoled screens look nice, but if you didn't know already, they actually have much shorter life span than IPS panels. Amoleds tend to burn all their blue pixels and white pixels faster than the red and green ones, losing brightness faster with time and skewing the white balance towards reddish or amber tones.

13. The V20 has a powerful processor but costs only half to 1/3 the price of current flagships. Do you need the fastest processor for Facebook, Mobile Legends and Clash of Clans? No! Even the midrange snapdragon 625 will be do. Processors are like cars. The only benefit of the fastest cars are bragging rights and speeds in the race track. They're barely noticeable in everyday city driving.

14. The V20 supports hidden SSID in hotspot. Want to share your V20's data connection to your other devices via wifi hotspot without letting others know? Just set the SSID to hidden and nobody will ever ask you what your wifi/hotspot password is.

What's next? Add the 'active' version for the 4000mAh and continue to falsely claim the S7 has at least 7/14 features of the V20? It's really the V20-envy at work here.

And you claim people don't need the V20's features because all the people ever need are a good screen, good battery, memory (whatever you mean by that) and camera. What? Who told you that? If that's all you're after, even midrange phones have them for so much less than the 'modern' disposable curved screen sealed battery flagships of today. And who told you the V20's QHD screen is 'below average' when you can clearly see it even under the noon sun and that ips through nature of the technology is inherently superior to amoled in maximum brightness. Besides, if you are at all concerned with longevity and color accuracy, IPS wins every time which ultimately, is what matters most. Unless you like to replace phones every year or two. You claim the V20 has poor battery. What? It's actually average that gets you 6 hrs SOT, even better than your S7's 3000mAh. Better still, if you want more battery life, you have an option for spare OEM batteries or 3rd party extended batteries. You clearly have v20-envy because the V20 is loaded with features and is designed to last a long long time while your S7 is probably already suffering from horrid, permanent screen burns, magenta bars, and you are already probably terhered to your wall or wireless charger because of your sealed phone's dying battery. No one you have V20 envy. Contented Samsung users don't waste their time here.

The US s7 has a FM chip built in, and the software update a while back allowed access to it. There is software support for the s7 FM radio.

The argument you wanted was about a different phone having at least half the feature set you claimed unique earlier, whether it completely matched the feature set you gave of the v20 wasn't the issue.

I clearly said in my last post how close I was to buying one only to be disappointed when I saw it in person. Like I said, anyone who actually wants a v20 can get a v20. I just don't want people to buy one based on your heaviliy biased opinions. I'm here because of your posts. You obviously just want to self validate your purchase which could leave anyone who bought one based on your opinions disappointed.

This forum should be about support, I wouldn't recommend anyone buy any phone released in 2016 because now that it's 2018 they are all pretty much at the end of their support cycle. IF you must buy this phone in 2018 make sure you actually get a chance to hold and use one first as I do admit this phone looks great on paper but not so much in real life, so much it made me change my mind when even I was set on buying it.

Fyi although not currently using them I still own more LG phones than any other brand which is why I still sometimes browse LG forums when I found your ridiculous posts. You keep straying off topic as just another desparate form of manipulating the conversation to prove your points, or lack of.

Your condescending remarks that people buy the V20 simply because it is heavily discounted rather than because it has features no other recent flagship has is self serving. The fact that you spend an awful lot of time here discounting every feature of the V20 as nothing special only means that you have V20-envy. Well why not? Satisfied Samsung owners don't care about an almost 2-year old phone to waste so much time in the V20 forum.

I'm keeping the perspective on the V20 itself. I've always said the v20 is a good phone, maybe a great phone and possibly the last best phone with a removable battery but for you to be here blabbing on and on about how this is still the best phone in the world is only some weak attempt for you to self validate your purchase. As I said before, this phone is not exclusive so I don't know why you keep making it sound so exclusive. It's cheap and available. Anyone who wants one can get one, or even two for that matter. But so many people have chosen other phones, and that doesn't make them wrong either. You really want to convince people to buy a 2016 phone in 2018 just so you can feel better about your purchase? That's not very nice.

Again, you seem to be totally brainwashed by features on paper VS the actual user experience of using the phone day-to-day. Yes, most people value core features over secondary features, you apparently do not. So if a phone has a below average screen, below average battery life, BUT, it has a IR blaster and FM radio, you're sold. That's your choice. It's interesting because when I saw this phone launched it looked so good on paper and the price dropped so fast, I actually even told colleagues when I was going out to buy one and that when I come back I'll have a v20 but when I actually tried out a demo unit at a Broadway store in Hong Kong I was so disappointed that 1) the phone didn't look as good as the illustrations in advertisements and 2) the screen was dim, dimmer than the G4 I was using at the time. I really couldn't believe how dim the screen was, I found my G4 acceptable set to 65% but I had to have the v20 set to 85% to be acceptable to me and I knew having it set that high would take a hit on battery life. Too disappointed I decided not to buy it. I don't regret it, either.

The international exynos s7 model is unlocked and has international LTE bands but no FM radio hardware at all. However, it has hybrid dual sim so you can choose to have 2 sims and an sd card or 1 sim and an sd card which you can't do on the US locked snapdragon version. Combine the two so you'll have the complete feature set of the V20 right? That's your argument. :)

You did not understand my point. the FM radio is enabled, if you buy the phone today from retail it will have it on the phone? It does not make it less of a feature if the FM radio was not enabled prior to the v20 release... your analogy is completely unrelated, and it seems to me you've full on committed to arguing on the SD card slot now rather than my other points.

Many Samsung, Huawei and Xiaomi users have damaged their hybrid slots because they are desperate in trying to fit 2 sims and an sd card in a phone which only has a hybrid slot. And no, an FM radio hardware without Samsung software support to make it functional is not the same as having an FM radio. You are like telling people a person with erectile dysfunction is the same as one without because they have the same hardware. :)

For the record I don't need or use ir blaster or fm radio on my phone, or dual SIM for that matter. My G4 had all these features, too, never used them. And my phone has a sd card slot so it's not like I can't expand the memory.

Lg' s marketing has somehow totally brainwashed you. It's not like the v20 is some expensive exclusive phone you know, anyone who wants one can have one. Me, like most people, don't want one because it's lacking in two of the four core features.

Buy a cheap Oppo or Vivo with multiple, high megapixel selfie cameras if you are obsessed with selfies. Otherwise, if you like the professional look of ultrawide shots (as contrasted to fake, amateur, panoramic stitching), the V20 should be without comparison. If you are getting low quality blurry photos all over from the V20, you probably have a defective unit with broken lens, etc. or you probably need to learn more about photography.

If it's obvious you are talking about the international version of the v20, then it's not cheap. Bottom line is that claim you made about it's price point being low that is unique to the v20 a few posts ago is false -> "13. The sd card point I made is to show that a phone having an SD card slot. whether hybrid or not, is not a unique selling point feature of the v20. If you feel the need to persist that a physical SD card slot designated as hybrid or dedicated is such a compelling difference to a user, then that's your business.

The FM radio being software disabled until late 2016 doesn't change the fact that there is a physical FM radio unit in the phone... when explaining it as a feature what difference does it make that it was inaccessible before a software update up to a certain point in time?

The whole point of this was to show that there's a phone in the market released at the same time frame of the v20 that has at least half the features you claimed to be unique. Given that "unique" feature 13. is false now that you've mentioned you are explicitly comparing the international variant of the phone, the s7 already has at least half the features you described. Your feature list is overblown for a phone who's main value is in the fact that it kept some features dropped by the phone industry today.

The main camera produces natural colours but it's a hit or miss it overexpose specially during the day.
My friend mid range huawei produces more accurate colours.
I think the phone also have problem with display i can see gray patch at the right hand corner just below the always on screen.
I bought this last moth and im planning to return it. But they are going to charge me for restocking fee.
Sad i though t this phone was really nice . but the camera and display was a let down.
The sound was really good hands down. But im still not happy with my purchase a bit disappointment
