sachin, 18 Jan 2011guys plz help me
I was going to buy samsung wave but by se... moreI've previously made the mistake to buy a Samsung phone because of the spec sheet, the i8910...
The operating system probably makes the biggest difference in being able to use the phone for what you want to do.
It was a huge mistake, for one, Samsung's support and updates are slow in coming if at all, they stopped supporting new updates less than half a year after release of the phone.
And it had Symbian... touted as "open" it really isn't, any application needs a certificate from the Symbian Foundation, which is expensive, and basically freezes small developers out of the market. To make matters worse, those certificates expire in a year, suddenly you can't install even the certified app, cause the cert expired... sure, you can hack the phone, and set the date back. But that gets to be like fighting Apple every step of the way out of their jail.
On Android, none of these problems exist. The big thing people complain with android is "fragmentation" meaning that not all apps run on all versions.. Thats an easy problem, and exists on all platforms anyway. So you just have to pick the apps that work for your version, and nobody is going to give you a hard time installing the stuff you want to use.

Darren, 18 Jan 2011I have had my Defy for 12 days and the screen cracked in th... moreJust an update on this.
The carrier sent the phone to the repair centre, who took one look at it and said it had been physically abused. I asked what constitutes 'physical abuse' and they said a cracked screen.
I next spoke to Motorola, who really didn't care at all, despite 'understanding'. They said their phone must have been physically abused because it had a cracked screen.
The Motorola guy kept saying it was only shock 'resistant' not shock 'proof', despite me repeated saying that the phone was on charge at the time.
Next stop, consumer affairs. The carrier run an ad on TV where a girl drops the defy from her purse on to a hard dance floor and everything is fine - I charge mine and it cracks.
The thing everyone seems to agree on is that the only possible way to break a screen on a phone is by dropping it. HTC has showed us that is complete BS.

chris, 24 Jan 2011can anybody tell me if the motorala defy is next g compatab... moreYes the Telstra version of Defy is great for the outback areas as it has these specs WCDMA 850/2100, GSM 850/900/1800/1900.
If the Defy box has the Telstra blue tick on the front then you can be sure it will provide the absolute best coverage available, compare the specs and you will see that all Defy's are not created equal when it comes to signal coverage options.
Telstra has the Defy on plans, it also may be purchased outright and not locked for AUS $600, i purchased mine outright from a Telstra shop.
Just be aware if your simcard has been locked by another handset then you must remove the simlock before inserting it into the DEFY.
