Similar to Apple, all Android phones offer the "back" or "cancel" button, so you can simply try almost everything you want, and in case you are not sure, just click "back".
Installing apps can never be easier! I had quite a headache with my previous smartphone, which was Windows Mobile. This time with Android, everything is a snap of a finger.
Maybe you can go to your local electronics shop / network service providers and just get a head start. Once you start using it, I'm sure you'll fall in love with it.
To me, Android offers almost everything an iphone does. My wife uses both iphone and Android Moto Flipout. She uses the iphone in front of her friends....the rest of the time she uses the Flipout.

No FRONT CAMERA, no way!
Why manufacturers save 50cents of froncam ?
Its unacceptable to pay 400€ and forget frontcam.
HOW I will use VIDEO CALL over INTERNET ???

Your opinion but I disagree. At just 13.5mm thick (half an inch) it makes no difference compared tio the iPhone4's 9.9mm. And it should not need a protective case like most others which will add a bit more. When phones get beneath 15mm tgw123 are fine.
@Moto 100
Thank you.
..... I know GSM Arena did an in-depth review of the iPhone's OS operating system but having searched for it I cannot find a similar review of Android's OS. Now that would be really handy, especially if it led new users through the OS and had hints and tips. Even better there was a review voted each update, eg, 2.1 Eclair, 2.2 Froyo, 2.3 Gingerbread .....

Had a Defy for a week, having swapped from an iPhone4 due to it being ruggedised. Amazed to have chosen a Motorola but very impressed on the whole although have not tried the camera yet, just internet and social networking and I must say that with heavy internet use it needs recharging after about 5-6 hours!
My question is..... I am new to smartphones and to the Android OS (2.1). I need help in getting used to its features. Without a detailed guide I think I will struggle to benefit from this phone's rich feature list and I really want to as I am starting to feel left behind by technology. Can anyone offer suggestions please?
PS: also, I did try an HTC HD running Android which also allowed text input via the virtual number keypad with predictive text, like on old-fashioned phones. Can I do this with the Defy and how? If not, is there an Android App that does this?
Thank you.

i have been using a htc desire for sometimes. i have had a look at the defy and like it very much considering that i have a 19 months son who finds his way around my phone every now and then. i am considering to change to this phone. one question that i would like to get clarified is, what is the exact memory available for downloading apps, as on my desire i keep running out of memory and having to uinstall apps. i know it says 2gb internal which seems very good to me but then in gsm arena review one of the negative points is "limited apps storage". can somebody using the phone please clarify what the exact space available is??

[deleted post]In HK the phone is selling for around US$420 without contract and unlock. First pre-order customers will also get the H690 Bluetooth handset for free, and one large electronic PHONE chain store replaces the 2GB (which comes with the phone) with an 8GB card.
