Naga, 30 Nov 2010Hey, Can anyone tell me how is Defy's performance??? Tha... moreI've had the phone for almost a month now... got it the day it came out. I don't have much to compare it's performance to because my last phone wasn't an android. My last phone was a Motorola Motozine ZN5 and this phone stomps it except for the camera. If I had any complaint about this phone it would be the camera/flash. The flash is led and imo very weak. The ZN5 had a xenon flash that rocked. I'm looking into some of the other camera apps in the hopes that the problem is software related. Other than that I absolutely love this phone. It runs very well and handles everything I throw at it. Battery life is pretty good. Certainly better than my ZN5 and that phone didn't do anything compared to what this phone does. I do have to charge it every night. If I work the phone hard with music and apps I sometimes have to throw it on my car charger when I leave work. However, I don't consider myself a power user... maybe midrange. If you have a lot of experience with android then you are used to the wow factor of an android phone.. but I've been wowed by this phone.
This afternoon I listened to music while standing in the rain fishing. No rain jacket on so I got wet. Caught a nice bass, pulled the pone out and took a picture then uploaded it to facebook. Rain steady falling on the phone and I was not scared at all. I wouldn't jump in the water with my headphone plugged in but water was beading on the screen and running off and I had no problem.
I'm really impressed with this phone. It does everything I need it to do and probably more.

Typing this on my defy now.

So imressed with it. For the price I was expecting more of a mid range phone, but it's blown me away. It's built like a tank but still looks and feels stylish and light in the hand. Gorgeous screen very high res. The phone has a 3.7" screen, but somehow feels more compact.

Performance has far exceeded my expectations, 3d games such as asphalt 5 run beautifully with not a hint of lag. Did you know the phone benchmarks higher than the galaxy s? Browsing is smooth too.

Music sounds great to me, video playback is stunning. Photo's are ok but obviously not the best. Also pinch to zoom in the gallery seems slow compared to my dads htc desire.

Oh and I love swype lol. Well done moto, can't believe you gave us a phone like this for such a good price. I just wanted a decent android phone I wouldn't have to keep in a pouch and the defy is a dream come true.

Loki, 29 Nov 2010Thanks for your answer ;) Would you say the bass is good... moreit pepends on the headset you use ("bose triport" give rich and deep bass)and the setings (there is an extreme bass option which gives real bass boost, while bass punch gives a more tight and accurate bass control)

The most impressive thing about this phone for me is the IP67!!! GEEZUS!!

Thats awesome. Tradies will love this thing. The Samsung B2700 lasted 5 runovers of a V* supercar before it died. I love to see what this survives.

Hi all DEFY users..can anyone tell me whether we can read and edit MS Office documents on this mobile??

I would also like to know about its video and audio quality..both using speakers and headset..

I like this ANDROID device, hope it works fine as lot of MOTO devices have complaints on many aspects..

Loki, 27 Nov 2010Ok ... so the default music player doesn't have custom EQ, ... moresound quality through a pair of good head phones is excellent, equal to iphone (I happen to own iphone 3GS and 4),using the right preset options for sound

Ok ... so the default music player doesn't have custom EQ, only presets.
But ... what about sound QUALITY ? Not thru the speakers but thru earphones (good earphones) ... does it sound better/worst than a Nokia X6 or an iPhone ?

Can someone commento on this ?

only negative i have found for this phone so far is that the wifi connection is a little hit and miss dropping connection here and there, superb phone otherwise

music player is very good with many sound effects options. Just go to settings>sound & display>media audio effects>wired stereo devices and you will find 4 effects profiles, 3 surround and 5 preset equalizers. If you want custom equalizer you can download application MixZing free from android market

Telstra Australia will bring out the Defy with a 850Mhz 3G spec for their NextG network. Or maybe its a typo and they will screw all their rural customers!
