Will Froyo be available as an undate on this phone? If yes, then will the video be upgraded to 720p @30fps too - similar to HTC Desire? Already pre-ordered the phone and I just can't wait 'til November!

For the United States the phone will be offered on T-Mobile with their 3G UMTS: Band IV (1700/2100). But for me, by far the most interesting feature offered by T-Mobile USA is uma -- wifi calling. A deal-maker for me on this phone.

Anonymous, 24 Oct 2010It seems to be VGA,26-30 fps http://www.motorola.com/C... moreSite seems to only say the fps? VGA being 640x480? I guess that's not too bad.. would like HD a lot better. The camera will be more important to me than the video. Hopefully this phone will be modifiable like my other Motorola phones. I'm looking forward to this phone, cheap and fits what I need.

Anyone know what kind of video this phone takes?

I don't care about games or most of the other stuff. I work at a golf course and get wet and dirty all the time... sometimes with no warning! If this phone will play my music, give me animated radar, take good pictures and hopefully good video, and survive my work environment, $99 is an awesome price.
I can't wait to see some actual reviews!

Sooo apparently Motorola is being ridiculous by not shipping the Defy in Europe and delaying the release-date further and further. Probably will be a simultaneous release in Europe and the US now.

Anonymous, 21 Oct 2010I know what is reported by insiders and press. Just Google ... moreYou might be right if you used the term "Europe" instead of "global". I live in Asia and Moto is releasing at least one new model every month, mostly Android.

While the Chinese market sees some China specific models. While the Korean market is still doing good.

So I don't understand how you used the term "global" when you didn't mention a single thing about what's happening in Moto Asia.

Front facing camera is a funny gimmic. I am not really sure of its existance/spreed on the US market but in Europe it has existed now for more than 6 years. The veridict is that nobody use it, it still cost more than 10 times the price of a normal voice call. Actually, I have never since those first days when it was new and fun to try, seen someone use it (Sweden), pretty (un)impressive since a very big part of the phones here have those capabilites.

The "only one" that has had a big/important use of video calling obviously are hearing impaired, whom now can use sign language....

Anonymous, 20 Oct 2010Why not 4G ?1.Because nobody needs it?
2.There are almost no 4G phones on the market, especially in Europe (if any) because there is no 4G available?
                            3.It's not a spec-heavy device?
                            4.It will cost more?

Is it really that difficult to understand?

Same goes for front camera. Video calls are a waste of bandwith, battery and a gimmick the majority of people is neither interested in nor will use in any "mobile" situation.

They have very limited assembling facilities, so they are looking to close global Motorola mobility division to keep up the American market and T-Mobile. Situation is very bad and complicated.
