however defy can update to 2.2 and 2.3

is there any way to go back to eclair? i do not find that froyo brings me anything worth keeping. my battery life is worse, even with some specific programs to deal with this issue. thank you.

Very good phone but has one negative part which could be crucial on buying it.
This is that 3G does not work on all networks, ( I am using Cyprus Cyta-Vodafone network) and 3G does not work.
However other Android Phones do work using exactly the same setting (i.e Sony Ericssons). I don't know if this i a hardware or a software issue, but is there.
From Moto Forums I have found that this is a known issue on many Mobile Providers.

If For durability from falls and other day to day problems, get DEFY.
But in my opinion, a GALAXY SL will provide better android feel with 2.2. And it may get 2.3.
Also bootloaders of MOTOROLA DEFY are locked. Hence you cannot install custom firmwares. No such problems with galaxy.
Rest is your decision.
