Don't / can't understand why people keep complaining about the headphone jack. I have been using mine since late Dec and not a single issue at all.

AnonD-2880, 02 Mar 2011Galaxy SL has: - a better screen @ SuperClear LCD.. it is ... moreyes, Galaxy SL has (shortly):
      - better and larger screen,
      - more RAM,
      - better video recording resolution,
      - newer Android out of the box (but Defy will also get 2.2 soon),
      - much better talk time ('cause it has slightly larger battery + much weaker reception than Defy),
      - more on-device storage,
      - front facing camera,
      - flash (defy will get it with 2.2 software update soon).

      but Defy has (shortly):
      - exclusivity of being a smartphone with best reception EVER (and at least several times better than Galaxy SL)- that is why Defy has less talk and standby time,
      - better durability (but, Defy's headphone jack can cause earpeace failing for european and asian users- not problem for me as I NEVER use headphones with my phone- only dedicated mp3 player),
      - much more compact dimensions etc.

Everybody should choose according to their requirements.

        - a better screen @ SuperClear LCD.. it is comparable to S-AMOLED (vs old TFT on DEFY)
        - a larger screen @4" (vs 3.7" in Defy)
        - more usable RAM @ 478MB (vs only 350mb in DEFY)
        - HD Video Recording at 720p (vs only VGA in DEFY)
        - Android 2.2 Froyo OS right out of box (vs 2.1 in DEFY)
        - 1Ghz A8 Cortex Processor (vs 800Mhz in DEFY)
        - PowerVR SGX530 GPU, TI OMAP 3630 chipset (vs older and slower GPU and 3610 chipset on DEFY)
        - TouchWiz 3.0 UI (vs no MOTOBLUR in Indian DEFYs)
        - 15 hours talktime battery (vs 6 hour talk time on DEFY)
        - Front facing camera (vs no front camera on DEFY)
        - 16GB internal storage (vs 2GB on DEFY)
        - Browser w/ Flash Support (no flash support on DEFY)

Does there need to be more proof? The Galaxy SL is clearly a much better phone than DEFY! Who cares if it is waterproof? Why do you want to expose your phone to water and use it underwater anyway?

          Shorter:

Galaxy SL has smaller resolution, smaller RAM and it's not water resistant. And it's expensive.

[deleted post]Galaxy SL has a smaller resolution and it isn't water resistant. Where do you see bigger specs at SL? CPU? Defy is overclockable to 1.2 GHz. GPU? Quadrant tests show that Defy also sports a PowerVR 530 GPU.

            Anything else?

if you are happy with the product by all means scream it to the heavens if you wish just problems are a known factor of this handset and i dont recomend it to anyone who enquires about it, all phones have there faults but this phone is without a doubt the most problematic phone i have ever dealt with and i dont accept it as a "great phone" if you are happy that is great for you.. until the speakers fail :)

Therefore if we are satisfied and appreciate the product Why should we not say so ? ?

Posted two photos yesterday of Motorola Defy with broken/shattered Gorilla Glass screens (comment wasn't approved). Also, have personally submitted at least 10 handsets for repair after phones suffered failed earpieces. Caveat Emptor!
