to rodgedz: I had a similar problem with my phone with a 34r flash, I can load it up with only around 11 mp3's (at 128kbps) or 42 mbs. If I tried to load more, the phone hangs. It also will not play mpeg files. I recently flashed to 96r-a and that solved the problem with the card, but I still can't play mpegs, and in usb connections, even if I connect it to the computer, it still does not recognize my phone as an extra drive. Can anyone help me?

HELP!!!!!!!!!!
Been using this phone and loving it, till now...
Just bought a 256MB T-Flash, but the phone just won't see the new card. Tried using the card in other device, where it works well, but phone just can't see it. tried format with card reader, but still won't work. is there a memory size limitation for this phone?

Actually, i have few questions...
(1) Does e398 support mpeg4 video files or only 3gp? I have tried converting some video files into mpeg4 format, but once played back in the phone, it doesn't have sound...y?What program should i use 4 converting video files to have a good quality video?
(2) How do i use v398 monster pack??????

phone is too good n useable colour is too broght and true.but have some fuctional problmae like not make any folder for varius picture or rigtons , songs also. not have a fm redio.

Oh! I've got it! I must remove the T-flash card from the phone before using mobile phone tools :D

I've got a little problem: I can't use PhoneTools with my phone. When I plug-in, it's recognised by Windows (I have XP) as a memory card. What can I do?

Hey Sharkblue,
it DOES void the warranty. and BTW Ikky the warranty covers the software too. actually tht's one of the main things that it covers. since ur not supposed to be meddling around with the core S/W of ur phone the warranty WILL be void if the phone gets messed up while u were trying to upgrade it. so my advise is better know wht ur doing sharkblue. better yet if ur not sure get someone else to do it. someone who knows this kinda thing. MOTOROLA service center would be a good place to start.

i know exactly wht ur prob is. well actually it's NOT a prob. are ur songs at a low quality like say below 128kbps? if they are then tht's simply due to the low quality of the songs. tht scratchy sound will come from no matter what u play ur songs from if u have lowered the song bit rates abit. i've kind of gotten used to it. its not much of a prob. my songs too are at around 96 kbps. at tht level tht scratchy sound is very minimal and happens only very rarely.
hope this reply helps.
if u wanna get rid of those sounds up the bitrate to at least abt 112 kbps. but then of course the song size is larger and the overall No. of songs u can store would be less.
just for the record i have 26 songs at abt 96-80 kbps range in my 60MB card.

as long u could revert back to original firmware, its still guaranteed for all i know....cuz a year waranty on the phone is usually regarding the condition of the phone / hardware, not software...
but im not sure, hehe, just giving my side of oppinion-

its a nice phone with some great features, but also have some lack point. Its so cheap, for phone with this great features. I just try mp3 player, it have good sound n bass, but why after i play alot of song, sometimes its got delay "like try to refresh the memory". i still use original firmware software with transflash 60 MB, n now just free around 300kb. I planning to upgrade to v398 ver.4, but will this break guarantee from vendor???

WalaBang this sh*t rocks. i just bought this phone and i cant take my eyes away from it. look and feel rock solid and i have a feeling one day if this phone aint paperweight, it be a tool and do damage someones head. hehe... mp3, memory card, camera, speaker phone, video playback and a surround stereo speaker loud and clear with low frequency vibrates that outta shake you at times.
and i found out about the firmware conversion from e398 to v398 capable of boosting the phone speed, camera quality and added voice recording feature. uh uh uh, this sh*t rocks, just hope i can revert back to my original firmware if somehow the phone needs medical replacement somewat.
for a phone from MOTOROLA with these features, i gotta say either theu are selling below cost. cuz with all dat features on other phones, it equals more close to RM1k for all i know...

This phone is superb, i just love the colours. But i have one problem: when i play certain songs ( e.g callin' out by lyrics born ) at high volumes, i can hear scratchy sounds, kinda like the ones u hear when the computer speaker's subwoofer is turned up too high. Does anyone have this problem?

hey i just got the e398 phone for my birthday. and all i got was the phone, battery, head set and the battery charger was any thing else meant to come with it like a usb cable or sumthin??

To lawrence.To play song from the transflash you nedd to go to Sounds then click the menu button .then switch to storage devices and you select TF.
