1- is the display better than midrange AMOLED displays?
YES! Display is fantastic compared to other midrange ones, colours are vibrant and doesnt look washed out
2- since the phone is thin but has metal built around it does the phone bind or brake easily?
The phone is durable, have been using it for 3 months now, and it is sturdy. But Display is not corning gorilla protected, so u might want to be careful with that.
3- since the phone been released a year ago does still run smoothly?
The phone was launched 5 months ago, and the processor is almost an equivalent of Snapdragon 888 processor, the phone is snappy, and Motorola has promised 2 versions of Android update, on papers it should receive Android 15

So my g82 unfortunately got damaged due to fall and i am considering replacing it with Edge 40 in case the display repair cost doesnt make sense. Can someone shed light on whether Mediatek Dimensity is in any way inferior to Snapdragon chipset when it comes mainly to non gaming day to day usage (navigation, texting, browsing) etc.?

Paying $600 for thes... moreWell I'm not looking at it in that way, I am paying 370eur, while S23 is is around 600eur, I was considering getting an S22, however used one, new one costs way more, used S22 with marks, and usually small cracks is around 360eur, so one in good condition is around 400-420, I honestly feel like it doesn't bring much more to the table than Edge 40, making it worth 50 bucks more

Device use Mediatek chip ,usually... moreTry to google for " Gcam for Moto Edge 40" and select the article from Gizmochina.
I was under the perception that Gcam works fine only on snapdragon devices but luckily it works fine for me
and make sure you download "MGC_8.8.224_A11_V14_aweme.apk

If anyone who has used for long duration without screen guard can comment if it is safe.

It didn't get any scratch during that time too. But, it was careful usage, phone didn't fall or like that by me.

Using this device for almost 2 months now, this is almost a perfect phone for day-to-day usage, I generally use it for checking messages, office mails, to watch an episode of series or a movie, Play Call of duty @ high resolution for 45 mins, check Instagram and listen to music. Haven't faced any issues till date.
I was previously using Lg G8x and compared to my old mobile, this one is actually good, it is light weight, looks classy and 144hz refresh rate is just beautiful.
It has all the ingredients of midrange, but once again it is down to one's personal preference. Am not a Moto fan , in fact this is my first moto phone in ages.
Default camera is not great but using Gcam makes lots of difference.
Battery could've been better but since it comes with 68w charger, hence it doesn't bother me much.

Have been using this phone for last 2 months. So many issues like heating like hell while charging, on video call, while taking photos. Added to that there appears screen issues like lines nearby the front camera.I haven't dropped the phone even for single time. Such a worst phone. Paying 30k for this phone is waste of your money. If these issues appears like this within 2 months means what will happen after few months. Worst purchase ever
