I love this phone. I had two Audiovox SMT5600, a kyocera smartphone and a then the MPx220. It is the best smartphone I have had ever. Second editon of course.

It plays back .WMA .WMV .AVI .MP4 and MPeG - via Xvid. DIVX, PacketVideo player - codecs are obviously xVid, DiVX, MPEG, windows media and many other port - it also streams media upto 384K - really fast for just a mobile phone... sometims I wonder who let this slipped out of Motorola´s hands - way too advance for its time.

I just received the phone as a christmas gift. I was wondering if someone can hook me up with some softwares in a legal way w/out spending too much. And how do I connect to the internet with this phone? I have DSL at home! And the market just came out with a Mini SD Wifi card, will it work on our phone as well?

            - Airscanner Mobile Antivirus (SMARTPHONE)
            - Jeyo Mobile Companion
            - Smart Movie for Smartphones
            - PacketPlayer
            - Repligo (excel, word, powerpoint)
            - Opera Browser
            - Photocontacts
            - SmartBrowser
            - SmartExplorer
            - Modaco FTP client for MPX
            - TaskManager
            ... etc....

these are just some utilities I got on my cell - but your needs might be different, keep in mind that this phone uses an ARM processor so most ipaq applications perfectly fit in the device... and for god s sake.... DO NOT INSTALL IN THE PHONE, INSTALL EVERYTHING IN THE MEMORY CARD WHEN ASKED! - have a good one then... Merry Xmas...

... Also, as crazy as it may sounds, you can surf the internet either via PASSTHRU or BLUETOOTH using this baby... big loophole on the wap service... if you succesfull connect to the internet you can watch TV for free through the media player streaming capabilities... www.tv4all.com - go there and just copy and paste the link into the media player and BAM!** you watching TV from any country they have available, also Radio Stations from anywhere in the world... etc... if you are into gaming... hey, ATARI, SNES, NES, and much more emulators are availble on the net for you. Please remember the big companies want you to use the phone *TO TALK* not to play MP3s cos the dont make money off you with that... so support on how to work your phone will never happen, they will help u on how to make more and more calls... :( - anyways my friends, anyhelp will be given for SURE - but I can tell you that this phone is GREAT... and please DONT EMAIL ME - post your messages, I will for sure reply.

I am with you on this DarkDawn - this is a wonderful phone. Impressive hardware sadly backed up by the weak windows ce operating system that cripples it to the ground but on the other hand, the device is excellent - PEOPLE LEARN TO USE THE PHONE. As a smartphone with an operating system, it is bound to crash sometimes, freeze and do whatever desktops and laptops do. It is just incredible that this type of devices are available for the general public that most times do not appreciate the talent of these engineers. - now, you need to get yourselves hands in some good software because let me tell you something - would you run your Pc without windows XP, NO!, would you do without Microst Office in any of their versions, NO! and unles you have a Mac (like me, but still using Virtual PC.. lol) you know what Im talking about. This phone needs an antivirus, photomanagement application and a real mp3 player since WMP simply plays them back, - thats all. Also get your hands into movies, full lenghts movies, show off because this baby got power TO SHOW OFF... if you need help obtaining applications just email me - Ill tell you where to get them from in a legal way and NO I AM NOT SELLING ANYTHING. you can even install the XVID plug in to view XVID/DIVX in your cell... Im posting some links for some real applications for this phone... and PLEASE DONT BUY THE PHONE FROM PROVIDERS... buy it from Motorola, yes you can buy from them directly like I did - it will come in a blue box and it is unloked and unbranded with everything inside...

Dont take ur anger on the phone!!!! if the company sold u a bad phone or if the company is cheating people, this doesn't make the phone bad!
please people learn how to use the phone correctly before making any judgments!

I've had the phone for a year and a half. For the first time a month ago, I had a charging problem. I recieved a replacement yesterday and it has the same problem. What the hell is wrong with this company. I have bought new batteries, and chargers. It's not the accessories its the PHONE. I can't express in words my disgust with this phone and Cingular.

Cingular is pulling some kind of scam. I bought the MPx220. Had all kinds of problems turning off/on, bad photos, etc. It went dead in 6 mo. Returned it and that one went dead. They told me it was still under warranty and to mail in, I did (carefully wrapped). They said it had moisture damage and charged my account $425! Nothing was ever spilled on it! They then returned the phone not even wrapped up, just thrown in a brown box with no return address! Crooks!

Boost your MP3 ringtones in your PC before you upload them to your phone - use Quicktime or Goldwave (both nice sharewares) to edit and downsample to MP3 to MONO 96K and raise the volume to 150 (in Goldwave) then save it and the file will be louder, repeat the process to make it louder. Please dont set Stereo mp3 files as ringotnes because the device joins both channels before playing them back and the volumes goes down. Use a Mono file and u will be ok.

Shut up man - this phone is GREAT!!! - right now Im online with it posting this message. I had an MPX200 flashed with wm2003 and the only thing missing was bluettoth and camera. now that i got it - this is mobile fun for a long long time... THE PHONE IS INCREDIBLE and yes.. try and get the verison without any provider stupidness (cingular, orange, etc) try and get the moedl straight out from motorola itself, the one in the blue box - most likely eBay will help on this - and if you have an MPX200 and have no need for camera or bluetooth just flash your phone with the new wm2003 - if you dont have i willemali it to you FREE, like 34MB though so your inbox better be big... :) - Im out friends.

this fone is awesome. I have the new black asian version so the parts and frimware is the best. I really like this phone. Recommend it but only the ones without the cingular firmare or software. Heard there are many problem with the cingular mpxs.

This phone is only good for people that have excellant hearing. The sound is terrible and I have done everything to increase the sound. Of course there was no reply from Motorola.

Outside of the weak sound, the phone is somewhat complicated to use.

                                      Not recommended at any price.
