Hey guys, i think i can help you with the battery life. always charge your battery when the charge is fully empty, charging in this way increases battery life. on the other hand, if the battery is charged several times before it runs out, it causes damage. i have experienced it with many motorola phones, but not sure about V8. i think it will work in this model too. people, please go through the user manual before using phones and try to follow the instructions.

mike, 07 Feb 2009can you have delivery reports for txt on this mobile?Dear Mike, on many Motorola phones you must choose to get a report each time you send sms, i mean you have to turn this function on for every sms you send. When you type new sms press options or middle button then enter 'Message Options' and you'll find reports there

100 Moto, 09 Feb 2009I'm a late comer in terms of using V8, as I got mine in ear... moreIt seems battery life for V8 has been and still is the issue brought up here. Many back pages ago I've posted my personal view regarding this and I do agree with you on having the mindset of "adapting" instead of "expecting". However, many others might not agree with me or you, I guess.

My personal experience on V8's battery life:
My daily usage on mobile phone is considered high and usually I unplug my previous V8 from its charger around 8am, starts work at 9am, by 2 to 3pm the battery bar would drop to 2 bars and from 2 bars to 1 bar is quite fast and then in rather short time, it'll shut off by itself. Once I've learnt the pattern, I made it a point to re-charge my V8 when it drops to 2 bars either with the car charger or the mobile charger (P790) for about 30 minutes or so, it'll then be able to last me until night time and if I'm still handling lots of call, sometimes I'll charge it again using the same method should I need to stay up late for further "drinking" meeting. (LOL). I've charged the V8 before up to 3 times a day maximum although most of the time I only require twice. I'm still putting both the chargers to good use now that I'm using ROKR E8 eventhough E8's 970 Mah battery is quite good to most people but for me, sometimes I still require additional charge in a day but much less than V8. Do I find it troublesome to charge the battery 2 to 3 times a day? I'd say no, not because I'm forced to say so or saying that to make me or others feel good, I just kind of accept there's no perfect phone .... yet and I don't believe there's any perfect life either. Maybe it's also about my opinion on what's important - that a mobile phone must perform its duty as a phone, to provide good communication audio quality between two parties irregardless of the background condition. This is one reason why I choose a phone with Crystaltalk technology, which is not available on others yet. Listening to a normal phone conversation in a quiet background environment does not show much on Crystaltalk's advantage but it really shines during conversation in a very noisy environment.

Overall for me V8's a good phone, the voice quality and reception strength were better than my current E8 and previous Z3. The reasons why I switched to E8, the bar design (easy single hand operation) and the built in 2GB with memory card extension. 100 Moto was right, the V8's voice quality and reception strength are the best I've ever experienced so far, it's too bad that I've decided to only choose bar and slide designs from now on.

HK, 07 Feb 2009I do not see what you point is? Everyone but you seems to u... moreI'm a late comer in terms of using V8, as I got mine in early Dec.

I admitted I use my V8 very little, which is on standby mode almost 24 hours a day, (never turn off at night) with "marginal" reception (as V8's strong reception allows calls across the border "without" roaming) for about 8 hours a day, maybe 3~5 calls for 3 mins each, plus some GPRS as mentioned, and I charge my phone every 3~4 days. (On the 3rd day, battery meter drops one grade, which means 50% for Moto)

For the battery cover, I do notice there is a slight difference between V8 and V9, with the one on V8 looks / feels a bit more flimsy. Though the worst is actually Moto's latest A3100, which I do worry it will come off sooner than my V8.

I have absolute no problem with the keypad on my V8, or V9 which I got since Sept last year.

For the clock on my V8, foturnately it has been accurate so far. I do admit the clocks on Moto phones are never as reliable as my good old Citizen watch. Not sure about other brands' accuracy though. Afterall a phone is a phone, a watch is a watch...

No phone is perfect, as even some almighty powerful phones drain power like SUV's with fuel. One just need to balance the needs, as I believe a phone is / should be made for communication, with all other things being "extra". If V8 provides the best in terms of voice quality / reception, I don't see how charging the phone everyday / twice a day is a problem at all.

100 Moto, 31 Jan 2009I do use my V8...though may not be as often as you do... ... moreI do not see what you point is? Everyone but you seems to understand that this phone sucks battery life like nothing out there. I am trying to tell you that even when the phone was not used the battery still exhibited a curiously low battery capacity. Even if the battery was good the other shortcomings ruin an otherwise nearly stellar design. The keypad problems that I had was some kind of bad joke. The fact that my phone lost two seconds every week on the clock was infuriating. The bizarre oversight by Motorola by not being able to check or see your missed calls is perplexing to say the least. Especially when you consider the fact that all their phones have been able to do this going back many years. Is there a person out there with a v8 who has not had the USB port cover come apart? Don't get me wrong, I still think the v8/v9 series have great possibilities, the design is truly second to none.

About battery life- my V8 lives 3 to 4 days with Battery Save option ON under Phone Settings.
Plus you can save some battery life by choosing band manually and turning bluetooth off (of course if you do not use it). And you can reduce Brightness even to 0, it shows everything clear enough:)

Though I do make s a few calls, and I actually use my V8 mostly surfing on the web with the unlimited GPRS through my network service provider. Doesn't that drain the battery too?

You asked for the Price...I work in a mobile Shop in switzerland. And we sell this one for 500Sfr.
It would be 400USD, so its your decision

i like the phone i had mine about 7months, maybe a bit longer my battery lasts three days almost if i dont use the mp3 player you can just use your phone to make calls and reduce the light on it to help conserve the battery overall i think its a really nice phone im very happy with it.
