So why did I get a V8? Mainly for the "best reception" among all the Moto phones that I currently use. The flip design with Crystal Talk also guarantees the best voice quality available in any phone by any brand.
Whether or not US$200 is worth for a phone with the best reception and voice quality, I don't know because such judgement is totally personal and subjective.

Can anybody tell me if delivery reports are saved in their own folder or in inbox, together with messages? Also, does V8 receive reports like Nokia (just a silent notification) or like older Samsungs (as a regular sms)? How long is the lag when entering inbox? Is it hard top open the phone with one hand? Thx...

Okay guys and girls, here is the final chapter of my experience with the V8. Several days ago the hinge caused the exterior plastic outer structure to crack. The crack starts to right-hand side right over the battery cover and extends mid-way into the depth of the phone. Until it reaches the steel frame I presume. Now the crack did not cause any physical impairment to the use of the phone, the hinge was still solid, but the right knuckle of the hinge was beginning to be compromised since the crack weekend it's support. Now the phone will not function properly. I think it may have something to do with the open/close actuator that is located near the crack. Anyway, sometime I get nothing but "call failed", when I send a text message it may take hours for it to get sent, and I am hardly ever able to receive calls as they go right to my voicemail. I will also add that the phone constantly goes from 0 bars to 5 bars and sometimes it states "unregistered sim". God I love everything about this phone other than the phone itself. It was a great design just poorly implemented. I will be using a Z10 temporarily until I can figure out what my next phone will be.

My on... moreI just bought a V8 about 3 weeks ago and found the micro-USB charger cover is a bit different from V9 (which I've been using for about 3 months now), and sad to say I found the cover on V8 seems a bit flimsy when being compared with that of V9.
About the battery problem, may I have multiple phones which I spread my phone calls with, I don't need to charge my V8/V9 everyday. Nevertheless, both phones in a way come with "dual" chargers...as each should come with a micro-USB cable which one can simply plug into a computer and have the phone be charged.
I personally charge my phones at my desktop quite often, and I don't understand why it seems hard for other brands to offer the same feature...charging by USB.

My only major issue with my previous V8 was the battery life, it was due to my heavy usage but I "managed" it by having a car charger and a portable charger. Other than that, another minor issue on the microUSB cover which was replaced once under warranty and the cover was alright until the day I sold the phone. Besides these 2 issues I've faced after buying the phone, I would say the V8's a good phone, superb voice clarity (better than my current E8 which is already good), really really good reception signal and nice design factor. I sold it off and purchased an E8 as I discovered that I needed a phone which is easier to operate with one hand due the nature of my work. I carry lots of things wherever I go like laptop, files, brochures or even bags. So I decided that I will either use a slider or a bar design from now on, well that's me. Maybe I see things differently, I'll still recommend the V8 to others but if you're a heavy phone user, an extra charger (car or portable like the Motorola P790) will put the battery issue to rest permanently.
I usually tries to look at matters from various perspective. As with other phone brands, if you look at their websites, you'll still find issues on them so there's no perfect phone for everyone. Maybe my approach is different again or maybe I'm a little more compromising, I usually adapt myself to things rather than expecting things to suit me.... may be it's this philosophy that made me less disappointed. However, for those who decided to purchase this phone, were they all aware this phone offers "2" screens, likely bigger than single screen of most other phones?
To me, complaining about the battery life of V8 seems like complaining the fuel economy of an SUV, or the limited legroom for the rear seats of a sports coupe.
Sad to hear most of the issues seem to come from US, as where I live, most users don't seem to have any problem with V8, especially like having parts falling off or faulty keypad or reboot...(not so on my V9 which I've been using for 3 months with over 15 hours of talk time, and my V8 is about 1 month old)

Exactly what problems you have faced with the phone? And are you located in US (especially with t-mobile), where the operator has reinstalled software on the phone to cause more troubles?
I've been using V9 since late Sept, while I also got a V8 (for EDGE as I subscribed to unlimited GPRS for about US$15 per month in my area) for about 3 weeks and I have not encountered a single problem with my V8.
