blackhawk999, 21 Sep 2008Hi all,
I bought my V8 2gb version 4 on last monday 15th s... moreI can't tell exactly your problem as I've not faced it myself since mine's 512MB version. Just for sharing my opinion purpose, maybe you could go to your local authorised Motorola Service Centre to check if your software version is the latest. If not, get it updated, usually at no cost so hopefully your V8's purchased from your local authorised agent. I remembered my previous V8 has no lagging problem at all until the day I sold it recently.
My current phone is ROKR E8, also comes with 2GB built in, running on Linux too and with audios, pictures & some songs loaded in, I still have about 1.6GB in it and the performance is also alright.
So get it checked out by your local centre, hopefully your V8 will improve after that. Before sending it in, make sure your datas are backed up in your Motorola Phone Tool and copy all your videos, songs and so on into another folder in your PC because the back up is only applicable to your Contacts, Calendar and task items. For other items, they won't be backed up in MPT.
Hope this helps.

I just want to confirm what HK pointed out a few pages back, ie, the clock of the V8 loses minutes over a period of time. I'm experiencing this and it is irritating and frustrating.

Mark, 17 Sep 2008Stuart, An excellent piece of advise. Which is why I am now... moreThank you for agreeing with my comments.
The V3i was a good phone, still remembers its elegance perception and high price back in those days when it first came out. It was Motorola's ultimate signature.
As for now, the V3i's specs are consider norm or low but I'm still seeing quite a number of people using it. It's still available for sale (brand new) in my country and the price is about the range of a used V8.
Talking about used V8, there's something I did not mention at all in my past comments - my previous V8 was actually a used unit, 5 months old when I bought it at half the brand new price. Since it was still under warranty, I made couple of warranty claims and upgraded the software for free - all done at the local authorised Motorola's Service Centre. With all done up, the V8 served me very well until recently I sold it to a close friend. He knew it was a used unit but that phone was in immaculate condition, not a single scratch, fantastic voice quality, gave him 2 batteries, basically everything in the box intact. He likes the way I took care of the V8 and we frequently talk over the phone so he knew the performance of the phone too. This is one way of getting a bargain buy on the phone you like. Just make sure the used unit was imported by your local authorised distributor with proofs like receipt, hologram or so on.
Depending on your budget, or if budget is not a problem for you, between V8 & V3i, I'll recommend V8 for sure. No memory card but comes with 512MB (or lately came with 2GB), 500Mhz processor, Linux OS, Crystal Talk, better music quality & bluetooth version 2.
Hope this helps.

Stuart, 21 Aug 2008Just to share my opinion on 3G since there are many comment... moreStuart, An excellent piece of advise. Which is why I am now leaning more towards a V3i or V8 as my next purchase; I shouldn't have to pay for technology I won't be using at all.
You have given me a clear and concise look into the V8, so much so I know the good and the bad in this phone; I am now an informed purchaser. What is your opinion on a V3i?

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970The V9 and the V6 maxx are rather identical. I'd pick the V9 over the former, it is DEFINITELY BETTER in terms of quality materials used and design- which I must admit is subjective. Good luck!
@Stuart
Spot on there mate! Let a customer make the decision and not you. Rather put at least three different handsets to widen the scope for him or her. Good luck Michelle!

Michelle, 15 Sep 2008I am doing an upgrade for one of my clients to a motorola R... moreMichelle, I must say my comments below are solely my personal opinion & suggestion. You don't need to accept them if you feel they are inaccurate.
If your client insist on Motorola, why not give him what he wants? It is much more safe for you instead of recommending something your client is not familiar with. Should anything goes wrong, your client might put the blame on you first - human nature. Maybe your client has used Motorola before or maybe he's heard from a close friend that Motorola is good, we won't know. There are other factors to consider too:
1.Does your client like flip phone, slide design or candybar design?
2.Is 3G important to them?
3.Is battery life important to them?
If you have more information, I believe you can narrow down to the type of phone your client like. Come back with more info if you can, I'll definitely try to help.

Badigo, 15 Sep 2008Stuart!
In my opinion, this phone is cool, very slim than ... moreBadigo,
1) Number of messages
Based on my personal experience, I've about 200 text messages in my Inbox and about 170 from my Outbox at one time, about 10 full songs and some (not many) pictures taken with the camera and I remembered viewing my memory, I still got about 280 MB of space inside. I believe the number of messages it can store also depends on whether there are text (depending on how long's your text) or MMS. So it's pretty hard to answer your question accurately.
2). Generally no problem with my V8, only small issues like microUSB cover was replaced and same goes to battery cover too - under warranty claim. Upgraded my software once in April this year and up till the time I sold off my V8 2 weeks ago, it was in real good shape. Performance was really good, voice quality very good, reception really good for me, (signal bar is more stable than my current E8). The battery is reasonable but if you are a high phone user, you'll need to charge it for a short while sometime in the afternoon. Using it without bluetooth turn on should last you much more longer than 1 day in the average.
The above are based on my experience, some other people may have different feedbacks. Hope this helps.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970Stuart!
In my opinion, this phone is cool, very slim than the original Motorola V3, big external display, has Crystal Talk, etc. I think the lack of this phone is doesn't support UMTS. If this phone supports UMTS, it will be better. Although I don't have a Motorola RAZR2 V8 yet, may I ask you?
1. How many messages can be saved in the inbox (not in the SIM card) of Motorola RAZR2 V8?
2. Have you ever got problem with Motorola RAZR2 V8?
Maybe next time I planning to buy a Motorola phone, but the Motorola RAZR2 V8 is still expensive in my country (Indonesia). It,s about $300.
I hope you are wiiling to answer my question, thank you before!
